If Morning Joe seems every-so-slightly less up-to-date, there's a reason for it. The show is now seven seconds behind the times. A tape delay has been instituted in the wake of Joe Scarborough's unintentional dropping of an f-bomb two days ago.
B&C reported the move yesterday, and the Morning Joe crew had fun with it on today's show. Coming back from its first break, the show aired tape [via Jimmy Kimmel Live] of CNN's Rick Sanchez coming back from a break of his own. With a screen over his shoulder reading "Transition to Power," Sanchez said: "We welcome you black. Uh, welcome you back." Point made: Joe's not the only cable TV guy capable of an embarrassing slip 'o the tongue.
The crew proceeded to a light-hearted discussion of the move to tape delay, with executive producer Chris Licht proudly displaying his finger poised on the red button.

F-bomb fallout ping to Today show list.
Yawn. Sounds like MSNBS is trying to drive up ratings. What better way to do it than to say a naughty word, and since no one was watching to begin with, announce to everyone that measures will be put into place to reduce the number of naughty words spoken on air.
Gee, I’m sorry,...I need to care about this nonsense WHY???
Oh, their so “edgy”...
I doubt if their viewers were offended.
Neither of them.
I saw a blog the other day about the coming newspaper crash of 2009. They had several suggestions on what we could do - cancel subscription, teach older people how to do computers, etc. They suggested we would know when our job was done by when they turned out the lights at the New York Times.
Mark, I look forward to the day you no longer have to monitor Today or Morning Joe for us. When their lights go out, I’ll buy you a drink for all you’ve done for us.
Doc, I write about Morning Joe almost daily. They do have about the best guest list in the business, from presidential candidates on down. The tape delay be a minor point, but it’s all part of my reporting on the show.
Thanks, abb: I’ll take you up on that! Guess I can always go to video clips of me reading the morning funnies ;-)
I just switched over from Cablevision to Verizon FIOS TV. Now, I get Fox Business but no MSNBC. I don’t miss it.
Huh?!? Is that show still airing?! I took them and NBC as well out of my channel line-up - I blocked their channels last winter. I haven't missed them any in the least. Ho-hum....
What’s MSNBC?
That echos a quote from Atlas Shrugged...
He said that we had to extinguish the lights of the world, and when we would see the lights of New York go out, we would know that our job was done.
File under, who gives a f*&%
Further evidence of America’s failing language and manners. Crude, in your face, irreverance. Tis a shame.
I just want you to know Verizon doesn’t include MSNBC in their line-up or offer it at all. And I left Cablevision as I get so many more channels.
The Network that hired the 21st Century version of Ted Baxter to emcee the Countdown program.
Best,
Chris
