Ed Morrissey: Calm Down and Play Nice, ODS sufferers
Protein wisdom ^ | 11/11/08 | Jeff G

Really, people. Don’t act like those odious Democrats did. Describing Obama’s attempts to move the country far to the left should be undertaken in the measured and refined tones of a Bill Buckley fart. Because Republicans, why, they have more class.

– Oh. And a few million less presidential votes, fewer House and Senate seats, and, soon, a diminished role in the judiciary.

But still: they have more class!

So, like, GO TEAM!

**** update: for the strangely gleeful.

update 2: Rather than develop an entire new post dedicated to answering Patterico, I’ll just point you here, here, and here.

update 3: Despite my having answered him several times — and providing links to those answers — Patterico continues to insist I haven’t answered him. So I answered him again.

A right blog fisticuffs.

Jeff at Protein Wisdom took issue with Ed Morrisey's piece on Hot Air warning against ODS.

-------------------- Morrisey:

For the past seven-plus years, the Left has suffered from Bush Derangement Syndrome. Well, actually, the rest of us have suffered from their embrace of BDS, which one might think would inoculate us from any related maladies. As Jake Tapper notes, though, the onset of Obama Derangement Syndrome might prove that wrong:

We all remember “Bush derangement syndrome” — defined by Charles Krauthammer as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush.”

We already need a name for the reverse disorder.

Rep. Paul Broun, R-Georgia, recently said that he fears President-elect Obama may create a security force akin to the Gestapo to impose a Marxist dictatorship.

“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force,” Broun told The Associated Press. “I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may - may not, I hope not - but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.”

Broun refers to this portion of a speech Obama gave in July in Colorado. The media dropped two sentences from its reporting of the speech, which set off critics when World Net Daily reported it:

It should be called FDS—Fascism Derangement Syndrome—though I don’t see anything deranged about anger with creeping fascism.

Obama is not intelligent enough to be a Marxist. Look at the din-bulb friends he has. He is - at best - a woefully average odd bird who will be delightfully outclassed by virtually every world leader he has the misfortune to meet.

In addition, his clueless friends are doing to do a super job of ruining the economy. Yup, Herbert Obama. Coming soon to your local food line.

Uh no thanks. They called Bush a fascist, Nazi, right-wing nut, blah blah blah from the second he was sworn in and didn’t let up for 4 years.

And after September 11th instead of ‘coming together’ they took every opportunity to undermine President Bush. So uh ODS sufferer? What a jerk this guy is.

I will call Obama a communist, socialist, Marxist, thug from Chicago A) Because that’s what he is. And B) Because payback is a *****.

Captain Ed has appointed himself the gatekeeper of online conservatism. I’m still trying to figure out what he has actually done for conservatism to have earned such a role.

I saw that column by Morrissey, and I decided Hot Air might not need me to visit their site much anymore.

I don’t want to get lectured by Ed and Allahpundit.

I’m sick of people preaching about “ playing nice “ .... it’s as annoying as “ Change “ .

How about for a “ Change “ our side “ plays mean “ and tries to win on Conservative principles ?

I must say I miss “ The Hammer “ Tom Delay . He knew how to crush the opposition and keep them crushed .

We appreciate the warning from Broun, but why can’t he say something like this:

“Given that president-elect Obama has affirmed that he will create something called a ‘Citizen’s National Security Force,’ and given that such citizens’ security forces in modern history have often been a prelude to a rigidly controlled police state, I urge as many citizens as possible to mitigate against this possibility by exercising their Second Amendment right by acquiring, through lawful means, a firearm for the defense of their property and themselves.”

Such a statement would send a clear message to the obamunists that any force used by his Citizens’ Security Force against private citizens might be answered in kind.

Too much of that. We need to speak out.

Almost every other person you meet voted for McCain (more or less depending on location.)

We need to be loud and proud.

Done nothing that I can see. One can hear him and his Northern Alliance snots doing nothing for conservatism every Saturday on Mpls radio. They, like Hugh (or as as the WaPo retread Mike Allen says, Heeeeewww) Hewitt, prefer "center-right" doncha know.

Success for the marxist messiah is the destruction of everything this country once stood for. To wish him well is to doom our children to chains forged by our own hands.

So I echo your BARF and pray unending confusion to him and his followers.

Let’s review just a few of the Democrat Party tactics:

They spent the first four years calling President Bush “illegitimate”, grown men and women in Congress (and the MSM) told Americans everyday that this President STOLE an election, they deliberately fostered hate and fear, knowing it was a lie.

Nancy spent the last four years saying nothing but “failure, failure, failure.” It got to the point where Ring Around The Collar was Bush’s fault. She, Obama, and Harry Reid declared the Iraq war LOST and tried their damnedest to lose it, all to score political points and turn Iraq into another Vietnam that the Democrats could run against for another 30 years. They stole our troops honor in death, and stole their victories.

The entire Valerie Plame “scandal” was made up out of whole cloth by the Kerry campaign, in conjunction with David Corn. It planted the “Bush lied” meme that Democrats rode all the way through the 2006 elections. Then they pulled the Dan Rather bull with the fake TANG memos to try to nail George W. Bush. Only thanks to Buckhead, on a Republican internet forum, they did not get away with it. Ray Nagin refused to call a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans, left 200 school buses unused, and made no contingency plans for getting people out of the Superdome or the Convention Center after Katrina. But Reid was right there to blame Bush.

No terrorist attacks on U.S. soil since 9/11. But all the Dems says is “we are not safer” and the media laps it up. Not to mention that after 9/11 ....SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON HOLDING UP A FRONT PAGE OF A NEWSPAPER, ON THE UNITED STATES SENATE FLOOR...SAYING BUSH KNEW! They started websites, made movies, wore T-shirts, ran protests with hanging effigies and Hitler photo shops constantly in order to destroy the President and the Vice President of the United States.

Now they have foisted an anti-American President on us...who sat in an anti-American racist church with his children for 20 years, and a man who has friends in the WeatherUnderground. This political party proved they will lie, publish forged documents, and try to lose a war in order to gain power.

A little more reality:

So far, I’ve been successful in keeping the blood pressure down. Then I saw this site: From 52 to 48 With Love , in which the same group of spoiled little brats that threw a full-throated temper tantrum after losing in 2004 now tell us that everything’s okay because they finally got the kool-aid flavored lollipop they wanted. As Treacher says “There’s nothing easier than telling the guy you just beat that he should forget the depths you plumbed to do so.” Precisely. It’s a nice sentiment, but maybe you should have thought of it before taking the time to make signs apologizing to the world because those mean nasty Republicans didn’t let you win. Sorry, folks. No frakkin’ sale.

We remember “Jesusland.” And if you have a few hours, scroll through Malkin’s “Bush Derangement Syndrome” archive. We remember everything - being called racist warmongers, Christianist nutbags, racists, and all the rest of the vitriol you folks threw at us in your “AAAHHH CHIMPY MCBUSHITLER HALLIBURTON IS THE EVILEST” stage of political development.

You spent the last eight years engaged in a disgusting orgy of divisive political hatred and now you want to play nice and pretend we’re all united now? When we asked you to unite for the country it was in the course of a shooting war with an enemy who would like to kill us all. You told us to stuff it.

I have never felt the mounting fury that they have provoked in me over the last 8 years. This goes deep and hot and I will not yield on this one.

Jonah Goldberg wrote on NRO that the Democrats have spent the last eight years blackmailing the country: give us power or we will destroy America. We’ll stab the troops in the back, leak classified intelligence, block George Bush at every turn, loudly protest and bring things to a halt, do our best to drive the economy into the ground and make this country a smoldering ruin until you let us win. And now they want to kiss and make up? #### them. And their teleprompter Jesus.

I will laugh at every stumble he makes, applaud his mistakes and cheer his enemies. I want him to spend the next four years cowering in a corner while our economy crashes and burns and our enemies kick his bony ass. I want him to leave office a broken man. And I want every disloyal asshole who voted for him to share his pain.

These rotten bastards poisoned the well for the last eight years, and I want them to choke on it now. *No* bipartisanship, *no *compromise, *no* surrender *

Create doubt. Question his judgment. Support his opponents. Ridicule his errors. Mitigate his successes with suggestion of unintended consequences. Refuse to praise his work. Challenge his advocates when they advocate; don’t let them own the conversation. Contrast failures of the future with GOP successes of the past.
