BUSH ANGER: OBAMA AIDES LEAK CHAT DETAILS
Drudge Report ^ | 11/11/2008 | Drudge

Just hours after President Bush and President-elect Obama met in the Oval Office of the White House, details of their confidential conversation began leaking out to the press, igniting anger from the president, sources claim.

"Senator Obama would be wise to keep close counsel," a top Bush source warned.

"BUSH AND OBAMA AT ODDS OVER AID FOR AUTO INDUSTRY," splashed the NEW YORK TIMES in an exclusive Monday evening, quoting "people familiar with the discussion."

The two met at the White House in private, without staff.

"Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Obama and congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia," claimed the TIMES.

The ASSOCIATED PRESS quickly followed with details of the conversation, citing "aides who described the discussion on grounds of anonymity, citing the private nature of the meeting."

Bush advisers view the leaks as an effort to undermine the president's remaining days in office.

"Senator Obama may not be familiar with a long-standing tradition of presidents holding their private conversations, private," a senior adviser explained to the DRUDGE REPORT.

Time magazine is going to make me vomit over the next four years, isn’t it?

Time will make you vomit over whatever portion of those four years they actually remain in print.

In his first press conference as President-elect he said that "President Bush has invited Michelle and I..."

His use of "enormity" in his speech after winning the election was a usage error, one replete with irony (if you look at his exams archived at the New York Times, you will see that Senator "Coke-head" Obama misuses words surprisingly often).

In this case, reading from a prepared speech where he had plenty of time to weigh his words, he said "You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead"; the normal definition for "enormity" is "an act of extreme wickedness", and not the erroneous vulgarism of equating it with "enormousness".

While it is conceivable that someone speaking extemporaneously might make this mistake, it's not the kind of irony-tinged error that the former head of the Harvard Law Review should make when reading from a prepared text. (Kudos to Peter Hitchens for pointing this error out.)

(The speech can be found here.)

My brother was in Paris last week and the overwhelming sentiment is that “the world” is totally behind the Celebrity in Chief. They don’t have a clue.

I suspect the President elect has been given many, many lessons over the past two weeks and is easily confused by the myriad of issues the CIC must grasp intuitively.

He is probably just confusing the previous strategic policy of MAD, with our Strategic Triad.

Given recent economic constraints, he probably thought he would save money by eliminating one leg of the Triad and instead has errantly decided to remove “MUTUALLY” from strategic policy, resulting in a new Obamanation of US strategic policy to be known as “AD” (vice “MAD).

AD seems to be consistent with everything he has done for the US since his election, don’t we agree?

Per the story... "The two met at the White House in private, without staff."

Absolutely. So any 'leaks' are either coming from Obama himself or are based on second hand information (i.e. a briefing he gave his staff after the meeting).

I do wish Obama would fire himself. ;)

As if you needed proof, it is now obvious that President–Elect Obama is anything but a class act. Make no mistake the individual that is about to move into the most hallowed and prestigious residence in the world stands to lower the bar well below what we thought possible during the Clinton years. The complete lack of caution displayed by Obama and his transition team in disclosing the confidential discussion with President Bush on Monday should prove this to any honest observer. Team Obama wasted no time in running full speed to their favorite mouth pieces The New York Times and the AP in order to try and smear the sitting president in an attack that reeks of nothing more than rumor mongering and back stabbing. These tactics should come as no surprise to anyone who has paid the slight bit of attention to how Obama ran his campaign and the tactics used in the past to destroy his opponents....

That’s what I think. Obama knew he would win. ACORN has been working for what—ten years? They made sure early voting, absentee voting and his magical internet/phone agendas were in working order during the campaign. They’ve got the big states/electorals and it’s going to take some serious effort to disengage this machine.
