WASHINGTON -- Students at a private school in Washington's tony Georgetown neighborhood were buzzing after a visit from Michelle Obama, who is scouting new schools for her two daughters.
Michelle Obama flew to Washington ahead of her husband on Monday and then visited Georgetown Day School.
Reporters and camera crews had camped out at two other Washington private schools: Sidwell Friends School and the Maret School.

But that's what I thought the Secret Service's job is: to protect them. They'd be the safest kids in school.
But I guess they'd rather be with [cue Reverand Wright's voice,] "rich, white PEE-ple."
Aren’t Government Schools good enough for Government People?
Hypocrisy is the MO (modus operendi) of not only MO (Michelle Obama) but Dems in general. Consider the inconvenient truth of Al Gore, the Carbon Indulgence Broker who travels, like Robert Kennedy in private jets and SUV caravans, with multiple 20,000 sf homes. What about the Breck Girl who made over $50 million on lawsuits for the poor, indifferent to those across the street?
Think how disruptive the SS would be in the classroom.
That's true, but they've been going to private school in Chicago since even before Obama was a US Senator.
I'd agree completely with your thought. However the hypocrites in our elite governing class seem not to care that their little darlings are just as vulnerable to a drive by at the uptown Wisconsin Avenue Lacrosse and Field Hockey institutions, where the blazer-clad brats hang out on the curbs smoking imported cigarettes, as they would be if they were pursuing Carjacking Basics at the MS-13 Middle School on Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave.
I agree, but liberals will never home school these days, even though Caroline K was home schooled while she was there.
I could be wrong but I think Chelsea Clinton spent some years at Sidwell Friends private school, one of those visited by Mrs. Obammy
Holy Hell...here comes the Cosby Kids.
Wouldn't he want to "spread and share" the safe environment?
Michelle has always made the money, so my guess is she just pays for it, considering she didn’t have it when she was young.
awe c’mon dallas, her ass is fatter than that!!
As far as needing a swanky private school so the kids will be safe, that wasn't true for Amy Carter, and there will have to be Secret Service men along with the girls all the time in whatever school they attend, private or public (and it WILL be private, believe me).
How many public school TEACHERS actually send their kids to public schools. That says more than a President’s kids.
Even if she wanted to send her girls to public school, the Secret Service would probably put their foot down and say, “No way!”
There are black people at these schools. Way back when I went to prep school in DC, the children of black lawyers, doctors, etc. whet to Georgetown Day, Visitation, Maret (almost wound up there myself), St Albans, and similar schools.
When I went to Michigan, most of my new Michigan friends had never heard of blacks having the kinds of jobs held by my parents' and their cohort. They certainly had never heard of a black kid having a debutante ball and being introduced to society.
So, if this was true back in the 70's, I'm sure that even more black kids go to these schools now. It's a big world with a lot of opportunity. Not every black person is in a ghetto.
I know that is true, still, Michelle’s actions do appear “off-message”.
i live in the noVA suburbs and i send my kids to private school, but i am NOT a hypocrite like that are, and don't claim that private and public schools are equal and don't take money from the teachers unions. that is a LIBERAL's argument there, and i know because my husband just had it with a liberal last week after the election, on this topic.
