Excerpts from Sarah Palin's Interview With Fox News
Time ^

Posted on 11/10/2008 6:04:22 PM PST by mathwhizz

On accusations of her going rogue during the campaign: “So, as days went on, it was good, it was fine. But being quite independent, just like John McCain is also, yes, maybe there is some characterizing of me going rogue when once in a while I would say something that -- hey, I said it from the heart. I believed in going off script once in a while in some of the rallies in order to really reiterate, perhaps, something that I believed about John McCain.”

“Maybe it wasn't written in the script, but so what. Geez, if this is all going to be so scripted and kind of like a movie screen and we have to follow verbatim everything that somebody writes for you, I don't want any part of that. That's not who I am and that's not who John McCain is either.”

“So, if I went off script once in a while, I can't for the life of me remember any one time where it would have harmed him, or the ticket. So I don't regret it.”

That’s what we need: More good Christain judgemental screed!

The word screed is a count noun, not a mass noun, and a four-sentence comment hardly meets the definition of a screed. Also, the a in Christian comes after the second i, not before it, and judgmental only contains one e.

I’m guessing you also like to dress up in brown shirts and give Seig Heil salutes on the weekend.

Then your guess is wrong.

Humble apologies for skipping spell-check. How about this?

That's what we need. More judgmental crap from misguided folks who call themselves Christians.

dont you know that gee is the short form of jesus and wiz is the short form of “wizard” as in grand dragon, etc?

Main Entry: [3]gee
Function: interjection
Etymology: euphemism for Jesus
Date: 1884
used as an introductory expletive or to express surprise or enthusiasm
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gee[3] [emphases mine]

whiz
"clever person," 1914, probably a special use of whiz "something remarkable" (1908), an extended sense of whizz; or perhaps a shortened form of wizard...

To get this from FoxNews, instead of Time/CNN, go to

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,449884,00.html

Time/CNN start:
“During Governor Sarah Palin first post-election sit-down with FOX News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren from Wasilla, Alaska”

The second sentence of the Fox story says”
“We are live in Anchorage, Alaska”

Did Time magazine, in connection with CNN, falsely change the location from Anchorage to Wasilla?

Wrong. Geez is a contraction of Gee Whizz. Not Jesus.

Bush's pronunciation of the word nuclear is an acceptable pronunciation. LBJ pronounced it the same way. It may be a Texas thing.

That the left jumps on such things merely shows their pettiness and lack of judgment. American liberals, working on the Manhattan project, gave our nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. Not to worry though, they pronounced the word nuclear to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the info. I did find out the meaning and I sure did not know about it! A case of being offensive to some who knew and not having any idea that I was because I didn’t know.

I stand corrected and apologize.

Don't be such a ******* Kurt

I'm not, but you are.

You know she did not mean to be irreverant or to use the Lord's name in vain.

I don't know what she meant to do. Ping to #106.

By the way, you put the a in "irreverant"...

I stand corrected and apologize.

I saw your previous apology and thought you were still being sarcastic. Now I'm starting to think you really mean it. That's a fine display of character right there. Kudos to you.

Oh get over yourself. Oh...maybe I should get back in the kitchen and leave you men to talk.

That is not how people use that term...and you know it.

But a man with a specail needs child can be president, right?

That would probably depend on exactly what special needs the child had.

gag... go back to your cave.

Gag. Learn to proofread. ("Specail"?)

Thank you. Yes, I certainly did mean my apology. I am a 67 year old who did not have a clue that “geez” or “gee wiz” had any such offensive meaning like taking the Lord's name in vain! I feel sure that I am not alone in being ignorant of the offensive meaning and sure Sarah Palin is another person who does not know. Can't believe she would ever take the Lord's name in vain any more than I would!
