Transition: President-elect Obama isn't planning to wait for Congress to pass his agenda. On Day One, he plans to rescind Bush executive orders on everything from embryonic stem cell research to offshore drilling.
The Democrats knew otherwise. They'd run out the clock knowing that a President Obama and a re-elected Democratic Congress would undo this right-wing mischief. As Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., noted at a Sept. 18 press conference: "Nobody's going to be drilling offshore in the next three months."
Judging by statements made by John Podesta, nobody's going to be drilling anywhere domestically for a very long time. On "Fox News Sunday," Obama's transition chief called the federal Bureau of Land Management's plan to open about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling "a mistake."
"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. Expect Obama to rescind that action and reissue the executive order banning offshore drilling in protected waters.

Piss.
News like this could send futures higher and lead to short-term (and possibly permanent) increases in prices at the pump.
Well, there goes my winter break road trip.
I’ll get the tar if someone else gets the feathers.
Gruppe marche! Links! Recht! Links! Recht! Links! Recht!
Didn’t Obama state (and was ignored completely by his followers) something about gas would probably go up to $10/gal and we the people would just have to put up with it?
SOmething along those lines. I remember the $10 figure, and he was evidently anticipating it but not the least bit concerned about his subjects when it happened. Probably something along the lines of ‘well you will all have to give thing up for my common good’ crap.
The president won’t have to pay for gas and neither does congress. It only affects us peons out here.
I figured if 0bama got into office that the economy would tank and fuel prices would skyrocket.
Might as well enjoy it while we can.
The really depressing thing is that the Dems will again turn everyone’s focus on the oil companies as the villains and the sheeple will believe them. I’m coming to the conclusion that Mark Twain and HL Mencken were right about man.
So those obama zombies who were delirious with the thought of not now having to worry about filling up their gas tank were right. Now it’s going to be completely out of their reach, so it won’t even be an option for them any more.
Obama to the US citizens: You’ll take my mandate, AND supply the vaseline too.
What an insolent turd this guy is. Just wholesale undo everything your predecessor has done.
At what point is he going to start building instead of just destroying?
When we are all sitting on piles of rubble, like the al-qaeda?
Anyone who believes the economy is better under the democRats needs their head examined
and thx again for all you principles conservatives who sat home 2 yrs ago, giving the rats the senate and the house....
Obama has a rather ‘cool detachment’ from his subjects. Seems few of them have noticed. If they start to notice; Obama will find/declare/create another ‘crisis’ to get their minds focused on something more important.
. . .and not to engage in a battle; but too many of the same; sat on their hands or voted for Obama this time around. IMHO. . .a choice, of course. . .but to jettison one’s Country raises the ‘t’ word, next to the ‘R’. . .and again, IMHO.
It’s going to get real bad. He’s planning to close Guantanomo Bay and releasing the terrorist to the continental States to tried in civilian courts and he plans to make Janie Gorelick his Attorney general according to the NYT
