Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who has emerged as one of the hottest names in national Republican circles since John McCain's defeat last week, was never vetted as a vice presidential pick, according to sources close to the Pelican State chief executive.
Jindal was approached by McCain forces to gauge his interest in the vice presidency and told them he was not interested in being vetted due to his desire to continue on with his current job, to which he was elected just one year ago.
While the official reason that Jindal took his name out of contention was his lack of a desire to leave the Louisiana governorship, there was also real trepidation within his political inner circle that Jindal might wind up as the pick -- McCain was attracted to his comprehensive health-care knowledge -- and be caught up in what they believed to be a less-than-stellar campaign that could pin a loss on Jindal without much ability to change or control the direction of the contest

Even if he wanted to run as VP he could not have served as Pres if McCain dropped dead on Jan 31, 09, he is too young. 2012 is a different story.
I agree.
Funny thing is, the same thing happened to me yesterday. A friend—Obama supporter—told me she likes Jindal because he’s moderate. I didn’t try and persuade her otherwise.
Maybe Jindal can fool the public like Obama did.
Jindal is 37; Constitution requires 35. He’s not too young.
Is he willing to release his birth certificate? Just saying...
Yes, but she had executive experince going back further than that. And though people might scoff at being a mayor or agency commissioner, executive experience at any level is valuable compared to being in the legislature where few people lead and the buck is easy to pass. Of course, Jindal has that too, having run a state agency and a hospital system before he went for elected office.
Palin's the only reason this wasn't a 15 point blowout. That takes nothing away from Jindal as far as I'm concerned; I hope he whips Louisiana into shape and then makes it to the White House sometime soon. If I were McCain I never would have looked at him simply because the opportunity in LA is something we might get once in 20 or 30 years, and he may be the only guy in the state who can take care of it.
You can bet the house that the MSM will vet him just like they did Sarah (and didn’t vet Obama).

Jindal played it smart to stay away from McCain. I also think, however, that Palin played it smart by taking the gig. There is no way given her gender and the remoteness of
Alaska that she could have ever generated this much buzz on her own. She became a household name at no cost to her.
She was probably partly happy that she last b/c she knew that a McLame presidency would tarnish her forever. She can remake herself in 4 years.
I think we'll know by primary time if he' the guy...either to be the top of the ticket or go in as Palin's veep. And in general I agree with you: Caution is advised with Jindal or ANY name that's being shopped around four years before the next primary.
Bobby’s a good man, but he now has an image that may be a bit too geekish and wonkish.
If he wants support from AH-nold and other “he-man” types, I guess he’d better hire a personal trainer, lift some weights, learn to do squats, and put a little meat on those thin arms and legs!
(Or would he then lose support from the single women and the other “sensitive” folks who voted for the Big 0?)
Smart man. This election was a boondoggle, he needed to stay out of it.
No, he’s 37 now, he would have been able to serve. The Constitutional age requirement is 35.
Jindal should run in 2016. Why? Hussein’s loyal cult will likely disintegrate for the most part, and dumb Americans will want to elect another non-white guy just to go along with the trend. It will be a win for sure.
It’s what he does on those jobs that counts. He is an efficiency genius who instinctively knows how to streamline things down to the bare bones while providing more services in return. He is solutions/results oriented.
Dang straight!
Mike Ramirez should just get the Pulitzer for catooning every year until he retires.
Me bad.
Sarah added 13 points to the total. That is the best estimate that I have seen.
My neighbor wasn’t either.
