Q -- Why did your campaign lose? A -- I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration, how have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration.

I don’t dig it at all.
Bush failed to use the Bully pulpit and bring things to the people. He instead let the media and the left use the pulpit day in and day out to trash him.
It would have been a different story had he challenged them daily on their propaganda.
Had that happened the republicans would have won overwhelmingly in 2002 and again in 2004. The incompetence of Gore would have made that inevitable.
Yes, well in politics, you have to pick your battles.
The media created so much, people listened.
Clintoon presided during the information revolution and gutting the Defence dept (becsue we "won" the cold war.) Trillions of dollars in new businesses started, Microsoft, etc. Hell, The Bent One even benefited from Enron and all those other phony companies. A chimpanzee could balance a budget with that new revenue stream back then.
Iget mad every time I hear those idiots taking credit for stuff they were actually against.
there is a time to be politik, and a time to be real, we just got shellacked, was she supposed to lie about the reasons for the posterizing we just suffered?
Bump for later read.
Sorry, I forgot that is was a women’s organization. They need to have a “Guys For Sarah” section too. I joined so will ask about it! My hubby would join for sure as he just loves Sarah!
Correct.
Good. They were taking the line about Palin not knowing if Africa was a continent or country and playing some game they called "Are You Smarter Than Sarah Palin." Forget them.
IIRC, it was the repubs that got the line item veto passed. Dems didn’t want it and took it the Supreme Court and it was overturned.
i can’t remember any public person more vilified in such a short time during my life.
There are a number of reasons why Obama was elected. Finance contribution fraud, voter fraud, MSM gross negligent, MSM campaigning for Obama, etc., etc..... This wasn’t simply about fools voting.
Lest we fail to forget, Obama received approximately 52% of the popular vote. This is revealing.
McCain and his advisers also ran a less than effective presidential campaign.
This cycle was unique in that the stakes were higher than in recent history. Some conservatives, which included yours truly, felt that despite the fact that McCain is not a true conservative, he, along with Gov. Palin on the ticket, was a better choice than a Communist Muslim. I know that I share the same sentiments with a number of other conservatives.
We also had conservatives that slip the vote by supporting Baldwin.
Regardless, it’s time to be all the more diligent. Conservatives must realize, just as the Socialists/Communists in this country have for decades, that change must start in public education, not just the next election.
Read my tag.
We need to stop making excuses. Other Presidents managed to get by without a line item veto or gutting the military.
Bush did too much horsetrading with the Dems, and came out on the short end of almost every trade.
Ah, I think you are right. Either way, I am not too sure that Clinton ever successfully used the line item veto. Or if he did, not for very long.
well, you said you were no fan of bashing a friend and I agree
I think she’s being polite. It’s true that the Bush years were a big handicap, not only because of the spending, but because Bush couldn’t even defend the good things he did. He let the Dems blame him for everything and never fought back. But there were other reasons that had nothing to do with Bush.
For one thing, the Obama camp outspent McCain 4 to 1, and were totally ruthless and dishonest, lying about everything and getting away with it because the press was totally on Obama’s side. Axelrod ran a campaign based entirely on right-brain, emotional responses, and the McCain campaign was (until the very end) left-brain, rational and based on argument and explanations. For an Oprahfied universe, that is not particularly convincing; McCain’s only hope was to offer a clear message, but he wasn’t able to do this. Instead, he was so low-key and unwilling to engage that he looked elderly and timid. Things only picked up when Palin came along.
In other words, there were a lot of factors, but had Palin mentioned them, she would have come across as offering excuses and being whiny. I’m sure - well, not sure, but I hope - the GOP has learned from this.
one less for sure. The only reason everyone I know voted for McCain was because Palin was on the ticket.
In other countries, nobody hands over the power this peacefully.
It stinks for us right now, but it’s what separates America from Kenya, Cuba and Sudan.
We congratulate the victor and moveon.org. The new leader gets a transition team and help from the current leader. We’re all civil.
Until the sheeple ask... where the heck is my disability check and mortgage payment that Hussein promised me...I voted for him 6 times!
Then there will be civil unrest. No justice, no peace, yo!
The new tone set up Bush and the Repub to be defenseless against non stop DNC and DNC media attacks.
Bush as leader of the GOP put US in a defenseless position.
He did not stop the non lies told about Iraqi, etc...
and he let the DOJ get taken over by Shummer’s buddy which is why the Ohio Voter theft was never challenged in court before the election!
He let the Dems stay in key federal positions that they used to leak classified data and spread lies about policies !
Look at his boy Paulson who set up the market crash with Shummer in order to get Obama elected .
Bush was a disaster .
