PHOENIX (Reuters) - Sales of rifles, pistols and ammo are surging in parts of the United States, as many gun owners fear President-elect Barack Obama's administration may seek to tighten ownership of certain weapons.
"The day after the election, I had many more calls than usual from people looking for semi-automatic rifles," said David Greenberg, the owner of the Second Amendment Family Gun Shop, in Bisbee, Arizona, who sold out of AR-15 rifles in recent days.
"There seems to be a fear they will be banned, and it's fairly likely," he added. "Obama and Biden are driven to eliminate firearms from the face of the country."

Among other complaints, they accused Obama of endorsing a 500-percent increase in the federal excise tax on firearms and ammunition -- a comment he made as an Illinois state Senator in Illinois in 1999, but has not repeated.
The sentiments are so strong Wall Street is taking notice. BB&T Capital Markets analyst Frank Mitsch on Wednesday raised estimates for Olin Corp due in part to expected increased sales from its Winchester firearms ammunition business.

Isn't oenerous tax levied on ammunition akin to a poll tax? The 2nd Amendment is not something which only a few can afford.
But this is not an argument I have heard, though one I believe is true.
And FWIW, my fiancee bought the last AR-15 in the 3 county radius yesterday. And I have purchased about 4 guns since mid-October.
Anyone who owns guns and voted for Obama needs thei head examined.
Gun sales are up as much as 700% in some areas.
Again? Another run?
“Anyone who owns guns and voted for Obama needs thei head examined.”
We had a table at a gun show here in NY this weekend. Guy came up from Penn. looking for a M1 Garand and ended up buying one from my BIL.
Got to chatting, and I had to ask how they could have voted Murtha back in after his insults. He said “ Who”? WTH He then said he would have voted for Obama if his registration hadn’t expired. Talk about head up a$$.
When I stocked up on hollow points at Walmart, the clerk asked me my name and address. I told him “None of your business”
Then he asked “What kind of gun are these for?” I replied “None of your business!”
He then asked why I was buying hollow points, and I again told him “None of your business!”
Then he said “I am supposed to ask”. I told him that “I don’t care what you are supposed to ask, it’s still none of your business!”
It aint cheep but is some of the best prices on the market at the momemt
Walmart here has to ask if they are for a handgun. The register even prompts them to ask.
BLOAT!
I just left the Nashville gun show, Bought my son his first gun. A stainless all weather Ruger 10/22. Everyone’s arsenal should have at least one, it is the small block chevy of firearms. Many dealers were sold out of popular caliber ammo.
I wouldn’t tell them anyway. Do they think a criminal is going to answer that truthfully?
How much for the M1 Garand?
$800.00
ping for later
Full capacity magazines for handguns and rifles are going fast also. Some sales are made by plain folks hedging their supply, and some sales are speculators stocking up for when a 30 round ar mag will be going for 50 or 100 dollars.
Gear up, ammo up, mag up
It’s the American way!
Don’t forget, a muzzle loader is a great way to deliver 300 grains.
What chance does a renewed AWB have of being passed?
Most of the gun stores here (Anchorage) are just about BINGO for ammo.
Reloading components are getting hard to come by as is, of all things, black powder.
I also noted at the local big box store that air gun ‘ammo’ (pellets) was all but gone - I got the last of the good .22 hunting pellets.
Guess it is time to break down and purchase some more molds.....
Welcome to Barama world.
I have started saving brass. Time to learn the art of reloading
I would give absurd answers, like “because I’m bored” or “I don’t know.” It’s none of their business, but I would handle with humor.
With a dem executive, congress, senate and judiciary?
Odds are good.
The only thing that will stop it is the realization that loads of Dems are 2nd amendment supporters too.
I dont trust these guys to realize that.
I think the first time I told them “target practice”. Then they really made me mad.
