It's been interesting reading conservative blogs over the past couple of days. There appears to be one main issue floating about: how should we treat President-Elect Barack Obama? There are two schools of thought. The first being that he has been elected President of the United States of America and we should treat him with the respect that is due to his office, unlike the left, who attacked President Bush from day one and compared him to Hitler, called him Chimpy, etc. Criticize his policies, but do it respectfully. Those that adhere to this school of thought seems to believe, by doing this, they will be taking the moral high ground, thus following through on their conservative principles. While the debate about just what "conservative principles" actually should be in the wake of McCain's defeat still rages, they're nonetheless all about keeping it classy, because conservatives, apparently, should be classy. The second school of thought is, basically, screw Obama, he's going to get it from all angles, and who cares if he's President---he's not their president, they don't agree with his policies, they think he's a bald-faced liar, and they're going after him.

While I appreciate what the first school is attempting to do, I have to say, my gut instinct is, if we do that, if we take the high road, Republicans will lose the next election. And the one after that. And the one after that...

I wonder what the increase in Home Schooling & Private Schooling will be in the coming years?

If it starts to become significant, it will be made illegal. Of course lots of things that are hard to detect are illegal, but still go on. Still it will have to be "after hours" and the kids will still have to show up for the indoctrination sessions from 9-3 or maybe 8-5.

yes, we all know the assault on our guns will be coming, and from many directions. He'll have a battle on his hands that he won't relish if he does. Not a threat, just a prediction.
If he's stupid enough to follow Clintons plan of focusing the federal government on investigating and harassing citizens that happen to be pro second amendment, he'll have his hat handed to him, as will any democrats that support his policies. He's lied to Americans on this issue before and during the election, to roll out this as an agenda is pure foolishness on his part. Of course, all of his agenda is foolishness, but that's another subject entirely.

You’re right. It’s already happening, in the street, on the blogs, on the news. Anyone who questions 0bama is labeled a sore loser, nutty, extremist.

If conservatives ever want to be elected again, they/we are going to have to start with basics again. It’s no good to tell people that 0bama’s going to ruin the country because they won’t believe you; they don’t want to believe you.

I think maybe start reminding people, one at a time if need be, that for the most part, people live conservative lives. I plan to gently remind the liberals I know that they live the same as I do; work hard, pay taxes, spend time with their children. Contrasting 0bama’s policies with the way they live doesn’t work, because most democrats have their heads in the clouds on how they think the world should be.

But if we can contrast how they live and how it mirrors the way conservatives live, maybe they can make the connection on their own that conservatism isn’t the evil thing they’ve been told.

I am as anti-abortion as the next guy, but it is a law that should be state by state. There is no state that can outlaw abortion, so why even use it as an issue........just to keep the religious and the conservatives afraid.

When our military members start putting in their papers to come off of active duty because they cannot in good conscience follow orders from a communist wanting to destroy our nation, more people will awaken to the horror they elected.
