The night we waved goodbye to America... our last best hope on Earth
The Daily Mail ^ | November 8, 2008 | Peter Hitchens

Posted on 11/08/2008 11:10:49 PM PST by Pinkbell

Anyone would think we had just elected a hip, skinny and youthful replacement for God, with a plan to modernise Heaven and Hell – or that at the very least John Lennon had come back from the dead.

The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship – its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.

I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts.

It already has all the signs of such a thing. The newspapers which recorded Obama’s victory have become valuable relics. You may buy Obama picture books and Obama calendars and if there isn’t yet a children’s picture version of his story, there soon will be.

Proper books, recording his sordid associates, his cowardly voting record, his astonishingly militant commitment to unrestricted abortion and his blundering trip to Africa, are little-read and hard to find.

If you can believe that this undistinguished and conventionally Left-wing machine politician is a sort of secular saviour, then you can believe anything. He plainly doesn’t believe it himself. His cliche-stuffed, PC clunker of an acceptance speech suffered badly from nerves. It was what you would expect from someone who knew he’d promised too much and that from now on the easy bit was over.

The ONLY good thing about Obama’s election is that ALL the reporting will be POSITIVE....no one in Govt. will be DESTROYED, the outlook for AMERICA in the world will be rosy, there will be NO BAD NEWS (unless it’s to blame Bush) but the MSM will NOT be trying to DESTROY RETAILERS and other businesses.

He’s got it right. When a co-worker’s phone “rang” and it was Obama’s voice as the ringtone, I knew we were in for a tough 4 years (4, not 8 — hopefully the US wises up in 4 and realizes that calling him an empty suit was giving him too much credit.)

America elected a half & half black, racists, Chicago gang land thug, proven Marxist, lying, cheating, slime ball, piece of pig's scum, for free stuff. 40 plus million idiots with no more than a 6th grade education, fatherless homes, drug and alcohol using bums. The others were simply sick of Bush, did not like McCain, bought the lies that republicans caused the financial melt down and housing industry melt down. RINOs in the RINO party destroyed the base, a lot of conservatives stayed home. This election that was going to turn out massive numbers that never materialized, as 04 out drew 08. Through stupidity, greed for free money by sitting on said butts, getting free health care, believing that Obama is going to pay their gas bills, car payments and mortgages, did it. This election for the republicans was a train wreck that started in 2004.

You are so right, even some Americans who say they oppose affirmative action undoubtedly hopped on the Oprah-Obama bandwagon with the ultimate endorsement of affirmative action. And even John McPain seemed comfortable with his loss, as did Bob Dole twelve years ago. This white guilt is a force to contend with.

I was surprised that so many “conservatives” stayed home and let others rule the country for them. Maybe they are not very intelligent people either, just unable to understand public affairs or even the simplest problems.

Why would you think the American people would “wise” up in four years. I don’t think their brains can be jump-started.

It’s because the American people lack the intelligence and shrewdness to understand what is happening around them.

In reality, the idea of America died a long time ago. The state non longer believed it at least by WWI, and the majority of the people since the 80’s.

Most people on the left proudly proclaim themselves as a citizen of the world. But as a Christian, I have never thought of myself as that. Just a pilgrim on the path to the city of God.

So the dream of America is dead. So be it. It had major flaws in it that could not last forever. Such as the assumption that the majority of the people are good and will vote accordingly. Not really possible. And that you can kill off 10-20% of you population in infanticide and not have a seriously warped world view.

The real question is, what now? Do we head to the catacombs, or overseas?

We now know that a large segment of “the American people” are perfectly comfortable for abortion for “others”. Not for themselves, because they have already been born, to paraphrase Reagan.

It took 25 years of liberal education to brainwash the public. Everyone under 30 now is a friggin no mind liberal with little or no critical thinking skills.Add to that a media system that was in the tank for the guy and there you go.Dumb down , brainless public with a dose of white guilt is what we have.
NOW , we all need to do more than talk of FR we need to organize ( I don’t me a GOP affair , screw them too) I mean a grassroots patriot movement to save this country and fight Obama at every singe move he makes. I’m in NJ , anyone know of anyone interested in doing this ? If we sit and watch it will be all over .

Perfect description. I did not watch, but from his earlier speeches, I can imagine. I heard him say getting there whatever that means. I probably won’t be watching news stations for a long time because I don’t want to see or hear The Chosen One voice. I am scared that I might be hypnotized also. ha ha ha.
What will the media do without the GOP to slander?

I saw an interview on Friday. In June 2009 the FCC terms are up and O gets to appoint the new board of 5. Since it is a D President they get the majority and the other 2 are R’s. A day later by a majority vote of three the “fairness doctrine” becomes a new regulation. This is not a senate or house bill it is a regulation. The guy O has appointed to help him with those appointments, can’t remember his name, an avid supporter of the fairness doctrine when Reagan took it away. He is coming back with a vengence and wants the change.
