America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...

With a hattip to Rush ( His idea during the Clinton plague upon America ) I am starting a file on “The One,” mostly starting from the election date.

Older stuff- links, quotes, quips, and sometimes pointed graphics can be found by scrolling back from these two posts:

-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research--

-Sarah Palin- links, from the beginning--

There is some good material in those posts that raises a lot of uncomfortable questions that everyone ought to be asking, and probably will once the “new” wears off, and we are stuck with four ( more likely eight, since 95% of the news & entertainment media are in his pocket ) years of a typical corrupt Chicago Political Machine Politician trying to jerk the whole country in one direction and then the next.

You've all heard the saying,

”People get the kind of government they want...
...and deserve?”

Well, America, you are about to “get it, good & hard...”

Don't say you weren't warned- we tried to tell you...

We did everything we could, and our state went for the Old Guy & the Naughty Librarian, but too many other voters were made stupid by the TV and public schools for it to matter.

We're in a Hell of a mess, and the worst thing is, "we"- the collective we, not you & I-- got us here.

Is Obama really the Abyss...

staring back at us?

I like to make points with humorous graphics- this one sums it up as well as any:

Then, in a nutshell, "everything I see going bad with all this hopi- changi- stuff The One is peddling-- forced labor, censorship, spin, and pure mean-spirited rudness:

Email of the day

Atlas readers rock! I am blown away by the overwhelming response to this post  (and this one) to get involved to take back our country from the Soros, socialists, and the self proclaimed messiah - oy. More than one email brought a tear to my eye but I wanted to share this one with you.

If this best represents who we are, what we want and where we are going, there is no way we can lose. Greatness is in the house. I am proud to count you as my friends. Prouder still to stand with you and fight this great fight.

I want to lead a county.

I was born in Cuba, and know the language of Communism, Obama speaks it well.  My grandfather's family had to flee Lebanon because of the Muslims to Cuba. We fled Cuba because of Castro.

This is the best country in the whole wide world.  I was a child when I left Cuba with the clothe on my back, we left my parent's sister and I, left behind everything.

America is Worth fighting for and Freedom is worth defending.  I do not want my children to grow up in oppression, nor do I wish exile upon them.

Please allow me to help, again, Id like to lead a county.

My name is Ingrid and Im in Miami, in Miami Dade County

May the Light always shine upon America,

Ingrid

UPDATE: In case there was any doubt as to what the victorious zombies have in mind. Check out this comment (left in the comment section) . Can you say rude awakening?

You people are pathetic!

Your racist fear mongering will not go unchallenged!  Soon we will shut down your hate spewing web sites.  We will confiscate your firearms.  In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways.  We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice.  We will have a new American Republic of justice and order for all!

You time is almost up!  Prepare for the dung heap of history!

It sounds insane (which it is) but I believe the writer is quite serious.

"We will confiscate your firearms. In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways. We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice".....

Heh heh heh....I am sure you are serious, but that is funny!

Values of social justice....like Mao? Stalin? Lenin? Ho-chi Min? Pol Pot? Which of these butchers of social justice did you have in mind?"

170,000,000
That's the number of civilians that have been murdered by their own governments in the 20th century alone.

Innocents Betrayed is a must see video produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms (scroll down to see links to view the Introduction to Innocents Betrayed)

Now consider Obama's 'civilian defense force' which he intends to fund and equip as well as our standing military coupled with his promise to revisit the second amendment (repeal concealed carry privilege) and then compound this injury with Ayers' inspired youth corps.

CHANGE.GOV OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT (hat tip rut)

Obamessiah has a new site up as President-elect soliciting ideas form the proletariat.
Let's hope it doesn't become the hub for the hate whitey and Jew boy Obamavomit that his last site was.

Surf the site. Take note. Keep your eye on the The Obama National Service Plan- the page is empty (how apropos) but that piques my interest.

President Obama To Bring Back Slavery

Just in case anyone think Mr. Obama is not serious about this, bear in mind that his new Chief of Staff wrote a book demanding this very thing:

Amazon.com: The Plan: Big Ideas for America: Rahm Emanuel, Bruce Reed: Books
http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Big.....038;sr=1-1

Don’t forget they want a Gestapo/KKK civilian force the size of the pentagon to keep everybody inline and things running smoothly.

“Suddenly, all mention of “required” has been disappeared. ”

SOME THOUGHTS ON OBAMA'S mandatory volunteerism plan. Plus, reader Nancy Anne Potts writes:

Looks like the change.gov site is true to it's title - it changes!

During the time when I was looking at the blog you linked to concerned mandatory community service the change.gov page saying "require community service" changed to goal for community service. The new wording is:

"..... Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free."

I found the the cached page on Google it has the original "required" wording.

Looks like they caught their "mistake". Now will the real plan please step forward -- goal or required. (Although the way government sets goals, they often wind up looking like requirements so maybe the two aren't all that different.)

Ugh! I see card check made the economy page too. He may be the president elect but I don't have to like his plans!

Not until the second term. Then that will be made mandatory, too . . . .

Meanwhile, Robert Bidinotto comments: "Anyone recall what the Soviets used to do to history books?" The Obama folks have a history of airbrushing.

IF YOU VOTED FOR MCCAIN, you're a racist. Just in case nobody had bothered to tell you.

President-elect Barack Obama's First Press Conference - Complete Video 11/7/08

Obama Mocks Nancy Reagan in 1st Press Conference

It's  classless to mock a frail, elderly woman. (Note he was not kind in his revelation about his own "typical white person" grandmother, either.)

It's even worse to mock the widow of a great former president. Whatever you think of her, she deserves respect.

Especially classless was mocking Nancy Reagan on stage, before hundreds of reporters and television cameras, knowing the "joke" would be heard by millions. This wasn't some private remark that got picked up by a live mike.

On Concerns Over Gun Control, Gun Sales Are Up

From "Change.gov", the official transition website. Agenda tab and then select "urban policy" and go down to "Crime Control".

Address Gun Violence in Cities:
As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

There will be no one left to protect you
Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans. Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies...

Hmmmm... this one is very difficult. I was in the military, and we were taught we salute the uniform, not the man. So I respect the office, not the man. However, I am adopting a wait and see. If Obama governs as if he cares about America, even if we disagree, I can accept that. If Obama governs as I expect, like a Manchurian candidate who is bent on America’s deconstruction, that is when he will disqualify himself as being my president.

An array of other advocacy groups are stepping forward with their priorities for the new Congress.

Barack Obama: The Kingfish Reborn

Do Unto Obama As Liberals Did Unto Bush

Coal stocks plummet. Average 15%, many over 30% since Tuesday Gee, wonder why?

Kate, this is important and you should listen to it. It's about Obama's cult of personality and it is short.

From the blogs- and, always, read the Anchoress:

Bush, Obama, & Ghosts of Hate - UPDATED

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Lincoln’s Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862.

I would love nothing better than to be able to stop writing about “left” and “right.” I wish we had a better vocabulary to describe our distinctions, because these words are limiting and off-putting. I am determined, with the merciful conclusion of this abusively long election season, to work diligently at spending less time entertaining these distinctions. But for today, I think it is only fair to note a very important and glaring difference between “left and right” - and in so doing - consider how we may, finally, stop needing to indulge in what is tedious.

Victor Davis Hanson
says Let’s not imitate the left in our opposition. I agree.

It has been wonderful - really beyond wonderful - to consider how differently most of the right has reacted to their defeat than the left did in 2000 and 2004. In the two previous elections, the left responded by calling the other half of the country “stupid,” “morons,” and “Nazis” - Jane Smiley called them “unteachably ignorant” - they indulged in high drama, sniffling “apologies” to the globe, and denunciations of their fellow countrymen as “lying between repugnant and reptile in the dictionary.”

And oh, yeah (eyeroll) George W. Bush was not “their” president.

While you’ll see a few disgruntled extremists on the right say foolish, even ignorant things - and many throwing daggers at the sickening double-standards of the press - they’re not indulging in that sort of dehumanizing (and very adolescent) hate of their fellow countrymen or the president-elect. The reports they’re filing read very differently than those following the Bush wins. They read as grown-up, tolerant, open-minded discourses, not tantrums. There is a willingness to be hopeful, even in defeat.

And there is a determined respectfulness being offered to the winners - people who could not manage maturity and respectfulness in their defeat and who, sadly, are not always managing it in their victory, either.

I’m hopeful that the left - if it takes the time to actually condescend to notice how well it is being treated by the vanquished - might consider that self-indulgent defamation is the lesser way; that such a consideration may inspire introspection, and perhaps the smallest bit of regret for some of their appalling excesses toward the right and toward the American President who did not return hate in-kind.

I’m hopeful. I’m an optimist. I KNOW that the folks on the right - for all of their faults, and both sides certainly have faults - want America to be successful and strong and exceptional and free. I’m hopeful that hugely empowered left will discover that - beyond the feel-goodism of “free social programs” which are never free -they actually, really do want all of those things, too. That they’ll look back on the last 8 years and realize, finally, that their enemy was never George W. Bush. Bush, the guy who never dehumanized them, was only trying serve those corny ideals.

And then, miraculously, we may actually have unity.

Some similar thinking from my girl crush, Donna Brazile:

“The one mistake that we continue to make is that we label people. We say you’re conservatives, liberal, progressive, right wing, left wing. I think people just want to spend one day being Americans. They want to come together around a common purpose, common values.”

I wondered the other day if the catharsis of this election might open up “a vein of generosity” (or at least decency) from the left as concerns President Bush. I have not seen it yet, but I’m going to be optimistic and keep looking.

But maybe it’s enough just to see a little appreciation from the right, to start. Like this, for instance:

I link, therefore, I Err has a little mini-round-up of appreciation for George W. Bush. You’ll want to read it all.

From Alppuccino at Protein Wisdom:

At 10:40, President Bush will keep his streak alive by telling everyone how much he loves America. Just as he always has. And he’ll show everyone how much he loves America by preparing Obama as best he can for the next 4 years.

Read it all; it’s doubtful that Obama’s team will come into the White House finding O’s missing from their keyboards, any rude messages greeting them. And that is how it should be in America, a respectful transition.

Michael Gerson:

Many liberals refuse to concede Bush’s humanity, much less his achievements.

But that humanity is precisely what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency — a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

[In 2005]…the White House senior staff overwhelmingly opposed a new initiative to fight malaria in Africa for reasons of cost and ideology…In the crucial policy meeting, one person supported it: the president of the United States, shutting off debate with a moral certitude that others have criticized. I saw how this moral framework led him to an immediate identification with the dying African child, the Chinese dissident, the Sudanese former slave, the Burmese women’s advocate. It is one reason I will never be cynical about government — or about President Bush.

Jeffery Scott Shapiro:

[The treatment of President Bush] from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have…Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Until we fix, within ourselves, our enthrallment with hate for others, simply because they hold differing views, we’ll never pull it together. In 2006 we watched a right-wing blogger be called less than human by a left-wing reader. We’ve seen President Bush being referred to as “the chimp” and “the monkey” by the wits who insisted that ideology trumped having a decent respect for another’s humanity. I wrote about that a little here:

Thus, George W. Bush is “Chimpy McHitler.” Hillary Clinton is “a pig in a pantsuit.” Barack Obama is “O-Bambi.” Cindy McCain, who has exhibited some courage and laudable compassion in her life, is reduced to a “pill-popping beer-frau,” and so forth. From there it is smooth sailing down an ever-descending river of hatred, until we are incapable of seeing anything good in the “other,” both because we have willfully hardened our hearts, and because our hate — especially when it is supported by a group of like minds — feels safe and inviolable.

With that in mind, you’ll want to read this excellent piece over at Conversion Diary, wherein Jenifer ponders pictures from a Nazi-era photo album and wonders, how such common-variety people managed to support and enable such profound evil.

One thing that stands out in all these examples is that the victims of the widespread evil were categorized as something less than human…not only that innocent people were killed or enslaved, but that their humanity was taken away by the societies around them…So here is the advice I would offer to my children, and to my children’s children:

Every decade or so, take a look around the society in which you live, and ask yourself if there is any group of human beings who are seen as something less than human. A big tipoff is if dehumanizing words — terms other than “man,” “woman,” “child,” “baby,” or “person” — are used to describe any category of people.

And if you ever see that going on, you might be in the midst of something gravely evil.

Dehumanizing people begins with baby-steps like name-calling, or the sort of intellectual dishonesty that delights in deliberately twisting the meaning of others in negative and misrepresentative ways. Those are the little gateways to the great evils that come once you’ve managed to thoroughly de-humanize others.

We’ve had 8 years - I’d say 12, really - of people demonizing and dehumanizing others, from both sides, and it is not getting us anyplace good. I believe that the response of most of the right to Obama’s victory is a step toward changing that. But the left has to do their part, too.

Pope Benedict XVI said, “those who hope live differently.” The election of Barack Obama was borne on this word, “Hope.”

If the people who voted for “hope” were sincere, then let them begin, today, to embrace it - and to live differently - without the kneejerk move to hate “the other side.” The right, responding levelly to their defeat, has offered the opening. Will the left take it?

UPDATE: Seems some will. Here is mostly accurate, and apprecited praise from a surprising quarter:

Would America have elected Barack Obama if white Americans had not gotten accustomed to seeing (in succession) two African-American Secretaries of State? I don’t think so. Before Bush, African-Americans were appointed to some good posts but not to our #1 foreign policy job. Two African Americans (one with a pretty odd first name) served as America’s face to the world. That eased Obama’s way. It is not Tiger Woods in whose footsteps Obama is walking — it’s Rice and Powell….Fact is, “W” never gave any evidence of holding racist attitudes…even just the slur the occasionally slips out of the mouth of even our most liberal leaders.

Same with Arabs and Muslims…Bush, after 9/11, never resorted to anti-Arab or Muslim stereotypes. He drew distinctions between terrorists and Arabs…Had he not done these things, Arabs and Muslims might have experienced not just hate crimes but pogroms.

Meanwhile, from Grand Rants:

Here is a man who is regularly compared to Hitler in casual conversation in Leftist circles high and low. His honor has been regularly impugned, his intelligence (or, as the press loves to put it, his “intellectual curiousity”) constantly demeaned, his verbal stumblings consistently mocked, and his accomplishments in office discounted or ignored. He is a man who kept his head down and did his job, despite the slings and arrows hurled at him by fortune made all the more outrageous by nearly the entire Democratic party.

I for one, would like to say thank you to Pres. Bush. For keeping us safe. For watching out for us. For persevering in spite of all the spite. I believe history will ultimately judge you as one of America’s best presidents, and I believe you deserve that judgement.

H/T to Opinionated Catholic, who writes:

The throwing under the bus of the President by even his friends and indeed the base has been shocking to me. Many groups will find out soon enough how they took Bush’s support and advocacy for them for granted, Catholics, especially.

Meanwhile, Jules Crittenden is beginning to enjoy Omerica, Quin Hillyer is saying America is over, kaput, finished, Evan Thomas suddenly finds Obama “slightly creepy” and when you refuse to release medical records, and the press doesn’t care…conjecture begins about your mental health.

Forty-Fourth President, Twelfth Imam

by Baron Bodissey

O-Man’s Fibonacci spiral haloThe election results were long expected, but now that the day has arrived it’s quite a letdown, anyway. Reading about the joy expressed by Hamas and Syria and Italy and Indonesia… contemplating Obama’s Secretary of State, or (God help us) Defense… Thinking about the USA becoming just like Sweden, only with a real army, and aircraft carriers, and nukes… First Lady Michelle…

It’s all too depressing.

So, as is my habit in such circumstances, instead of writing a post this evening or doing something else useful, I created yet another iconic image of The One. After looking around at some of his existing halos, I decided to make one myself. A man can’t have too many halos, right?

And then I pondered the phenomenon of halos appearing behind the heads of great national leaders, men who are born into modest Muslim circumstances, but in time become presidents of large countries that have nuclear weapons. It made me think of…
- - - - - - - - -
Mad Jad’s HaloMahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ol’ Mad Jad got his halo when he went to visit the UN a couple of years ago. It appeared behind his head while he was speaking. Not only that, his audience was held in such rapt attention by his words that they were unable to blink for thirty minutes. We know all this is true because he told us so.

I wonder how many other resemblances there are between him and Barack Hussein Obama.

Ahmadinejad sees himself as preparing the way for the Twelfth Imam, as a sort of satanic John the Baptist for the man who is prophesied to return and usher in the apocalypse preceding the establishment of the permanent reign of Islam over the entire world.

And Obama’s got a bigger halo.

Does that mean…? Nah — it couldn’t be… But still… It makes me wonder…

What if the One were also the Twelfth?

Note to the literal-minded: this post is for fun, not to be taken seriously. Given the circumstances, it’s the only fun I’m likely to have for quite a while.

We may have to set up a “Free Republic in Exile” like Degaulle did when the Nazis overran France, but we’ll manage.

Some realistic things to expect early in the Obama Administration

I work in Chicago. I deal with a great many attorneys in my job, many of whom are staunch Dims and breathless Obambi supporters; some were even active in his campaign. More than one told me that at or near the top of Obambi’s agenda is a new Hate Crimes bill, with a wide expansion of what will be considered a hate crime

Didn't you notice that Obama is a conservative?  "Obama is, in his own words, something of a Rorschach test. Well, after the 2006 debacle, I wrote this:

I will continue to update this:

But I'm just burned, and bummed out. The elections. The sellout of Israel. The Moonbats. The Stupid Party. The Evil Party.

Then again, after yesterday there's this:

”Zimbabwe On The Potomac...”

You know there were warning signs...

I kept telling people when Bill Clinton slithered in to office, and clung to it, despite all the scandals, and Impeachment itself-- “He's just a symptom. Like a fever is of a disease- there's something wrong with America.”

Like Popular Culture- look at the magazines-- I call it “thugs & jugs,” or “which Pop Tart is popping out whose baby this week?”

Or Katrina- ever seen so many people milling around with their hands out, when they should have been helping themselves?

We did it to ourselves, and The New, Improved Black Jesus is merely a symptom.

All civilizations have a shelf life- once enough citizens figure out that by electing the “right” representatives, they can use the power of the government to pick the pockets of others,

...it's all over, except for the details.

Well, we're in the “details,” now.

Meanwhile, I have to figure out what Miss Emily and I do with what's left of our lives, and bush hog her Mom's old place in the country, because City Life isn't going to be worth living from here on out.

I'll catch you all later...

He is a former enlisted man – and an Infantryman who wears the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. This award is given only to Infantrymen who have participated in direct-fire engagements against the enemy.”

Not necessarily. The CIB is awarded for 6-months in a combat zone which this cadet obviously did. Beyond that from his ribbons this can be said: he's been in the Army at least 3 years (GCM), SE Asia for two tours, and he's a good soldier (several ARCOMs). Maybe he was in "direct-fire engagements" but by the odds, probably not.

Top 10 Observations About President Barack Obama’s Afghanistan War Strategy Speech

Following President Barack Obama’s a war strategy speech Tuesday night, myriad observations surfaced about the way forward for the United States military in Afghanistan. Below are my Top Ten observations about that speech:

1) It took three months for President Obama to come up with this;

2) President Obama believes we can end a war successfully without winning;

3) President Obama failed to mention any intention of winning the war;

4) "Surging retreat" is the two-word phrase that best describes President Obama’s new war strategy;

5) All the Taliban and Al-Qaeda terrorists have to do is wait a couple of years until U.S. troops leave Afghanistan, and then they can march in and take over the country;

6) If President Obama managed the war in Afghanistan with as much vim and vigor as he did his presidential campaign, we would be be celebrating the one-year anniversary of “Victory in Afghanistan Day" Jan. 20, 2010;

7) The United States will likely spend more time prosecuting Navy SEALs for giving a murdering terrorist a bloody lip than it will executing battle plans in Afghanistan;

8) I no longer believe President Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya. Instead, I’m convinced he must have been born in France;

9) Any military recruiter who reaches his goal during the next two years deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor; and

10) Even as we speak, the helicopter landing pad on the roof of the U.S. embassy in Kabul is being painted.

Rumsfeld Cries Foul On Obama Claim Troop Requests for Afghanistan Were Denied

I never really considered the day might come when we not only had a COWARD in the White House, but also a person totally inept in making critical, timely decisions that impact not only his or her nation, but others as well.

We have, and I write having lived thru the clinton mess and carter mess, a president who does not know what in the hell he is doing. Period. And it shows.

And his classless tribe of liberal blobs that advise and write for him, well, lol, they are EXACTLY what a inept jerk like uhbama would hire...creeps totally out of the marxist playbook-people without conscience who have never sacrificed ANYTHING in their lives but demand it from others.  National Gun Rights Examiner ^ | December 2, 2009 | David Codrea

Posted on Wednesday, December 02, 2009 12:08:46 PM by Still Thinking

The December 1959 issue of GUNS Magazine is now online, and it tells us the story behind the poster in the feature article "Guns in our bundles for Britain," by William B. Edwards. Edwards comprised a fascinating account of the effort to change that. And he gave us some interesting insights on the dangers of registration:

I was told by a leading London gun dealer that selected personnel were called secretly to the War Office in Whitehall, given individual keys to lorries full of Bren guns, grenades and ammunition, and told to "take the bloody stuff and bury it-we don't want records and we don't want to be able to be forced to tell where it is-and use it for resistance in the invasion."

Sadly, outrageously, we learn that when the danger had passed, government trust in the people went away, and the people for the most part, obeyed in the "cleansing of firearms."

Thus today's sorry state of affairs. This is one hell of an historic account, and you won't find it anywhere else. Knowing it, how many American gun owners would be inclined to answer a similar call for help today? Take the poll and give us an idea...

GERMAN'S "DER SPIEGEL": "SEARCHING IN VAIN FOR THE OBAMA MAGIC"

Following are key excerpts from an article today in Der Spiegel, the weekly German magazine, entitled "Searching in Vain for the Obama Magic." The article by Der Spiegel writer, Gabor Steingart, is a scathing commentary of President Obama's Afghanistan speech at West Point on December 1, in which he announced, three months after the request, that additional troops would be sent into battle.

The article does an excellent job of connecting the dots of Obama's deception and contradictions that were spread throughout the speech, in an attempt to calm his peacenik Democrat party, and to somehow appear "deserving" (a joke) of his recent Nobel Peace Prize award (My highlighting)...

The Growing Latin America - Africa Drug Pipeline

By Joe Katzman at 17:20

Douglas Farah:

"One of the disturbing and little noticed events of recent weeks was the crash (or destruction) of a Boeing 727 in the desert of Mali.

The crash is disturbing for many reasons, among them these three: 1) the aircraft was carrying between 2 to 3 tons of cocaine, far more than other, smaller aircraft and boats that have been detected in recent months, indicating an escalation of the trade through the Trans-Sahel region; 2) The region where the aircraft was found, most likely torched by its crew to destroy evidence, in a area of heavy operation of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb (AQIM); and 3) the aircraft departed from Venezuela, now Latin America's primary transshipment hub from Latin America to West Africa, and source of all the major air shipments of cocaine that have been interdicted in West Africa."

Unsurprising. Given the number of Cuban DGI agents in Venezuela, this is that state's future, whether Chavez eats a bullet tomorrow or not. Note, also, the incidental al-Qaeda opportunity to pick up the high value part of the pipeline moving the shipped drugs north to Europe.

Denmark’s quota register, which the Energy Agency within the Climate and Energy Ministry administers, is the largest in the world in terms of personal quota registrations. It is much easier to register here than in other countries, where it can take up to three months to be approved.

Critics often compare today's carbon trade to the tulip bubble of the 1600's. I disagree, for the two differ in a fundamental way. When a trader placed a tulip on the auction block, he actually had a tulip to sell.

All the president’s ClimateGate deniers

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 2, 2009 09:54 AM

My syndicated column today looks at the global warming cultists in the Obama administration who are working overtime to paper over the ClimateGate scandal. Yesterday, Phil Jones, the head of the U.K.’s Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia stepped aside while the university investigates. Penn State prof Michael Mann, purveyor of the infamous hockey stick graph of spiking global temperatures peddled by Al Gore, is also under investigation. GOP Sen. James Inhofe, vigilant watchdog over global warming shenanigans, wants Babs Boxer to investigate. As Obama heads to Copenhagen to crusade for massive interventions to stop global warming, a new Harris Poll shows a significant shift in public opinion away from the cult of climate change. Jonah Goldberg dissects the groupthink that has gripped the global warming industry and its media enablers. Ed Driscoll takes you on a tour through global warming evolution in six and a half minutes. Well now: “Moderate” (liberal) GOP candidates/lawmakers led by GOP cap-and-tax 8′er Mark Kirk are running as fast as they can from the global warming hot mess.

Hide the decline, hide the decline…

Oh, and just a reminder:

Former Vice President Al Gore had four White House meetings in April. The records suggest these were not social calls for Gore, who won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work to curb global warming. Two of the meetings were with John Holdren, Obama’s top science and technology adviser.

All the president’s ClimateGate deniers

“The science is settled,” we’ve been told for decades by zealous proponents of man-made global warming hysteria. Thanks to an earth-shaking hacking scandal across the pond, we now have mountains of documents from the world’s leading global warming advocacy center that show the science is about as settled as a southeast Asian tsunami. You won’t be surprised by the Obama administration’s response to ClimateGate.

With pursed lips and closed eyes and ears, the White House is clinging to the old eco-mantra: The science is settled.

Never mind all the devastating new information about data manipulation, intimidation, and cult-like cover-ups to “hide the decline” in global temperatures over the last half-century, they say. The science is settled.

Never mind what The Atlantic’s Clive Crook, after wading through the climate science email files of the U.K.’s Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, called the overpowering “stink of intellectual corruption” — combined with mafia-like suppression of dissent, suppression of evidence and methods, and “plain statistical incompetence” exposed by the document trove. The science is settled.

Never mind the expedient disappearance of mounds of raw weather station data that dissenting scientists were seeking through freedom of information requests from the Climatic Research Unit. The science is settled.

In March, President Obama made a grandiose show of putting “science” above “politics” when lifting the ban on government-funded human embryonic stem cell research. “Promoting science isn’t just about providing resources — it’s also about protecting free and open inquiry,” he said during the signing ceremony. “It’s about letting scientists like those who are here today do their jobs, free from manipulation or coercion, and listening to what they tell us, even when it’s inconvenient — especially when it’s inconvenient. It is about ensuring that scientific data is never distorted or concealed to serve a political agenda — and that we make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology.”

Yet, the pro-sound science president has surrounded himself with radical ClimateGate deniers who have spent their entire professional careers “settling” man-made global warming disaster science through fear-mongering, intimidation, and ridicule of opponents.

*Science czar John Holdren, who will testify on Capitol Hill this week at a hearing on ClimateGate, infamously hyped weather catastrophes and demographic disasters in the 1970s with his population control freak pals Paul and Anne Ehrlich. He made a public bet against free-market economist Julian Simon predicting dire shortages of five natural resources as a result of feared overconsumption. He lost on all counts. No matter.

Holdren’s failure didn’t stop him from writing forcefully about mass sterilization and forced abortion “solutions” to a fizzling, sizzling, overpopulated planet. And it didn’t stop him from making a living making more dire predictions. In 1986, Ehrlich credited Holdren with forecasting that “carbon-dioxide climate-induced famines could kill as many as a billion people before the year 2020.” He went on to Harvard and the White House. On the David Letterman show earlier this year, Holdren fretted that his son “might not see snow!”

Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball notes that Holdren turned up in the ClimateGate files belittling the work of astrophysicists Sallie Baliunas and Willie Soon at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in the Solar, Stellar, and Planetary Sciences Division. Holdren put “Harvard” in sneer quotes when mocking a research paper Baliunas and Soon published in 2003 showing that “the 20th century is probably not the warmest nor a uniquely extreme climatic period of the last millennium.” First, deny. Next, deride.

*Energy Secretary Steven Chu picked derision as his weapon earlier this year when peddling the Obama administration’s greenhouse-gas emission policy. “The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” the Wall Street Journal quoted Chu. He dismissed dissent by asserting “there’s very little debate” about the impact of “green energy” policy on the economy.

There’s “very little debate,” of course, because dissenters get crushed.

*The Obama team’s chief eco-dissent-crusher is climate czar Carol Browner.

As I’ve reported and reminded over the years, she oversaw the destruction of Environmental Protection Agency computer files in brazen violation of a federal judge’s order requiring the agency to preserve its records during the Clinton years.

Over the past year, the EPA has stifled the dissent of Alan Carlin, a senior research analyst at the Environmental Protection Agency, who questioned the administration’s reliance on outdated research on the health effects of greenhouse gases – and also sought to yank a YouTube video created by EPA lawyers Allan Zabel and Laurie Williams that is critical of cap-and-trade. Browner reportedly threatened auto execs in July by telling them to “put nothing in writing…ever” about their negotiations with her.

And she is now leading the “science is settled” stonewalling in the wake of ClimateGate. “I’m sticking with the 2,500 scientists,” she said. These people have been studying this issue for a very long time and agree this problem is real.” Book-cookers are good at making it seem so.

In any case, last year, more than 31,000 scientists — – including 9,021 PhDs — signed a petition sponsored by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine rejecting claims of human-caused global warming.

But hey, who’s counting? The science is settled.

***

Australia rejects a massive cap-and-tax bill.

Richard Lindzen: No, the science isn’t settled.

Paul Driessen: Time to cancel Copenhagen.

Ron Bailey on the scientific tragedy of ClimateGate:

How can the world of climate science recover? First, carry out independent investigations of the activities of the researchers involved. Pennsylvania State University has announced that it will investigate the activities of researcher Michael Mann who worked closely with the CRU and several times expressed in the leaked emails his desire to stifle the scientific work of researchers with whom he disagreed. In Britain, Nigel Lawson, former Chancellor of the Exchequer, has called for an independent investigation of the CRU. Tireless journalistic global warming scold George Monbiot has declared, “It’s no use pretending this isn’t a major blow…. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign.”

The Sound Of Hell Breaking Loose: Your Context, Sir.

This FP column by Ross McKitrick leaves only one question unanswered...

The expert reports upheld all of our criticisms of the Mann Hockey Stick, both of the mathematics and of its reliance on flawed bristlecone pine data. One of the panels, however, argued that while the Mann Hockey Stick itself was flawed, a series of other studies published since 1998 had similar shapes, thus providing support for the view that the late 20th century is unusually warm. The IPCC also made this argument in its 2007 report. But the second expert panel, led by statistician Edward Wegman, pointed out that the other studies are not independent. They are written by the same small circle of authors, only the names are in different orders, and they reuse the same few data climate proxy series over and over.

Why wasn't it on the front page?

Holdren, Lubchenco On Defensive About ClimateGate at Hearing ( Committe on Energy Independence...

Two key Obama Administration scientists were grilled this morning about Climategate at a hearing of the House of Representatives Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming this morning. The hearing, originally meant to be a review of climate science before Copenhagen, got personal. The hearing suggests that the release of some 1000 e-mails among scientists at the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (CRU) could have long-lasting political implications, as political foes of greenhouse gas controls are citing them as evidence that the science behind the campaign to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is rigged.

Ranking member James Sensenbrenner (R–WI) led the assault, attacking John Holdren, the president's science adviser. Sensenbrenner, a former chair of the House Science committee, quoted an e-mail from 2003 in which Holdren called scientists Willie Soon and Sallie Baliunas "amateurs" at interpreting climate data and said that their findings are "flawed."

The only conclusion I can draw is the BBC has a faster spin cycle than my Fisher & Paykel washer. It was not just the emails. It was the F77 code and the basic science. The AWG industry, practitioners, gaia priests, and followers were busted. This was not science....the MSM outlets are spinning this partly because they have a stake in it and secondarily, they don’t want to derail Obama in Copenhagen. Copenhagen is where this thing must be acknowledged by them... If they act like nothing happened, it may be time for the torches and pitchforks.
This is part of the coup unraveling. From "healthcare reform" to "AGW" they are in it over their heads.

Read this, dagnabbit:

The Last of the Light Brigade
—Rudyard Kipling, 1891

There were thirty million English who talked of England’s might,
There were twenty broken troopers who lacked a bed for the night.
They had neither food nor money, they had neither service nor trade;
They were only shiftless soldiers, the last of the Light Brigade.

They felt that life was fleeting; they kuew not that art was long,
That though they were dying of famine, they lived in deathless song.
They asked for a little money to keep the wolf from the door;
And the thirty million English sent twenty pounds and four!

They laid their heads together that were scarred and lined and grey;
Keen were the Russian sabres, but want was keener than they;
And an old Troop-Sergeant muttered, “Let us go to the man who writes
The things on Balaclava the kiddies at school recites.”

They went without bands or colours, a regiment ten-file strong,
To look for the Master-singer who had crowned them all in his song;
And, waiting his servant’s order, by the garden gate they stayed,
A desolate little cluster, the last of the Light Brigade.

They strove to stand to attention, to straighen the toil-bowed back;
They drilled on an empty stomach, the loose-knit files fell slack;
With stooping of weary shoulders, in garments tattered and frayed,
They shambled into his presence, the last of the Light Brigade.

The old Troop-Sergeant was spokesman, and “Beggin’ your pardon,” he said,
“You wrote o’ the Light Brigade, sir. Here’s all that isn’t dead.
An’ it’s all come true what you wrote, sir, regardin’ the mouth of hell;
For we’re all of us nigh to the workhouse, an’ we thought we’d call an’ tell.

“No, thank you, we don’t want food, sir; but couldn’t you take an’ write
A sort of ‘to be conbnued’ and ’see next page’ o’the fight?
We think that someone has blundered, an’ couldn’t you tell’em how?
You wrote we were heroes once, sir. Please, write we are starving now.”

The poor little army departed, limping and lean and forlorn.
And the heart of the Master-singer grew hot with “the sconrn of scorn.”
And he wrote for them wonderful verses that swept the land like flame,
Till the fatted souls of the English were scourged with the thing called Shamme.

O thirty million English that babble of England’s might,
Behold there are twenty heroes who lack their food to-night;
Our children’s children are lisping to “honour the charge they made –”
And we leave to the streets and the workhouse the charge of the Light Brigade!

A great resource for refutation of this nonsense follows, courtesy of finnman69.

These two figures show former temperatures with major periods of glaciation labeled. The dashed lines are the present global average temperature of about 15° C (59° F). Thus the solid curves show small changes from this average; note that the temperature drops only about 5° C during a glaciation. This has occurred about every 100,000 years, with smaller wiggles in between. That is, there has been a 100,000 year glaciation cycle for the past million years or so, and there may be shorter cycles as well.

The most recent glaciation, 20,000 years ago, is called the Laurentide, and Earth is still recovering from it. This map from the The Illinois State Museum exhibit on ice ages shows the extent of that ice.

The most recent small drop in average temperature caused the Little Ice Age of 1500-1700 AD, which history describes. Mountain glaciers advanced in Europe and rivers like the Thames in England froze solid, which doesn't happen now.

The growth of the ice sheets began about 120,000 years ago as ice built up on the continents in the Northern Hemisphere, especially in Canada and Europe. The largest extent of these ice sheets occurred 18,000 years ago. At that time the largest ice sheets were between 3.5 and 4 km thick. In North America the largest ice sheet was the Laurentide Ice Sheet centered on Hudson Bay with other sheets centered on Greenland and in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. As these ice sheets expanded they grew together, covering Baffin Bay and eventually the Great Lakes and New England. In northwestern Europe the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet began to grow and expand south to cover what is now Norway and Sweden and north to cover the exposed continental shelf. Over time the ice sheet grew to cover Finland and the United Kingdom. This ice sheet extended east to the Ural Mountains where it met the Siberian Ice Sheet. Before the last ice age ice sheets already existed on Antarctica and on Greenland.

Most people seem surprised when we say current levels are relatively low, at least from a long-term perspective - understandable considering the constant media/activist bleat about current levels being allegedly "catastrophically high." Even more express surprise that Earth is currently suffering one of its chilliest episodes in about six hundred million (600,000,000) years. Given that the late Ordovician suffered an ice age (with associated mass extinction) while atmospheric CO2 levels were more than 4,000ppm higher than those of today (yes, that's a full order of magnitude higher), levels at which current 'guesstimations' of climate sensitivity to atmospheric CO2 suggest every last skerrick of ice should have been melted off the planet, we admit significant scepticism over simplistic claims of small increment in atmospheric CO2 equating to toasted planet. Granted, continental configuration now is nothing like it was then, Sol's irradiance differs, as do orbits, obliquity, etc., etc. but there is no obvious correlation between atmospheric CO2 and planetary temperature over the last 600 million years, so why would such relatively tiny amounts suddenly become a critical factor now?

Preparing for Global Collapse (Liberals Bent on Economic Apocalypse)

CAN THE WEST BE SAVED?

Dry Run for Jihad?

by savage ( 205 Comments › )
Filed under Islamists, Terrorism at December 2nd, 2009 - 4:14 pm

I was listening to KNZR1560 out of Bakersfield today and Jaz McKay (a host who has Pam Geller on frequently) was talking about this. Seems AirTran flight 297 from Atlanta to Houston was delayed due to Muslims acting up as usual. Here is an eyewitness accounting of what when on, which you will never hear on the MSM.

One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On Tuesday, November the 17th, I returned home. If you read the papers the 18th you may have seen a blurb where a AirTran flight was cancelled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before takeoff. It was on Fox.

This was NOT what happened.

I was in 1st class coming home. 11 Muslim men got on the plane in full attire. 2 sat in 1st class and the rest peppered themselves throughout the plane all the way to the back. As the plane taxied to the runway the stewardesses gave the safety spiel we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively. This took the 1st stewardess out of the picture for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at the time. He ignored her as if she was not there.

The 2nd man who answered the phone did the same and this took out the 2nd stewardess. In the back of the plane at this time, 2 younger Muslims, one in the back, isle, and one in front of him, window, began to show footage of a porno they had taped the night before, and were very loud about it. Now….they are only permitted to do this prior to Jihad. If a Muslim man goes into a strip club, he has to view the woman via mirror with his back to her. (don’t ask me….I don’t make the rules, but I’ve studied). The 3rd stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said “shut up infidel dog!” She went to take the camcorder and he began to scream in her face in Arabic. At that exact moment, all 11 of them got up and started to walk the cabin. This is where I had had enough! I got up and started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size say “I got your back.” I grabbed the man who had been on the phone by the arm and said “you WILL go sit down or you Will be thrown from this plane!” As I “led” him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed out with him. I then grabbed the 2nd man and said, “You WILL do the same!” He protested but adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go. As I escorted him forward the plane doors open and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control. I was happy to oblige actually. There was some commotion in the back, but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then unloaded their luggage.

We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happen, when suddenly, the door open again and on walked all 11!! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent told her they had searched them and were going to go through their luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent “we and our crew will not fly this plane!” After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. 5 minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on.

Again…..this is where I had had enough!!! I got up and asked “What the hell is going on!?!?” I was told to take my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly. I said “I’m getting off this plane”. The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off. (now I’m mad!) I said “I am a grown man who bought this ticket, who’s time is mine with a family at home and I am going through that door, or I’m going through that door with you under my arm!! But I am going through that door!!” And I heard a voice behind me say “so am I”. Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same. Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was cancelled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am.

Look up the date. Flight 297 Atlanta to Houston.

If this wasn’t a dry run, I don’t know what one is. They wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it.

I’m telling this to you because I want you to know….
The threat is real. I saw it with my own eyes….

Pogroms in Jerusalem

by Rodan ( 96 Comments › )
Filed under Islamic Invasion, Islamic Supremacism, Israel, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Liberal Fascism, Sharia (Islamic Law) at December 2nd, 2009 - 2:00 pm

Yes, you are reading this headline correctly! There are right now as we speak, Pogroms against Jews in Jerusalem. Islamo-Imperialist and foreign Progressive Collaborators have been attacking Jewish families who are moving into the eastern parts of Jerusalem. Can you imagine if Progressives and Imperialist were attacking Americans moving into parts of New York? Well that is what is occurring in Israel!

A “welcoming” committee of Arabs and foreign anti-Israel activists, including those from the United States and Sweden, attacked Jews with clubs and stones Tuesday as a new family moved into a home in eastern Jerusalem. Police stopped the attack but not before blood was streaming down the face of a Jewish guard at the site.

The clash came as Sweden plans to present a proposal to the European Union that it recognize eastern Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian Authority, a step that would give the PA de facto status as a state and weaken Israeli sovereignty over the city.

Sweden which is beloved by Progressives is a collaborationist state. I call on all Blogmocracy Netizens to boycott products from that Progressive hell hole. As for the Americans involved, it comes as no surprise. Anti-Semitism is rising under the guise of anti-Zionism. It is open season on Jews in their own homeland! It is no coincidence it is open season on Christians in America as well.

These events are not a coincidence in my opinion. There is a Global Progressive-Imperialist war on Christians and Jews. What is sad is that Jerusalem was built by King David, who was Jewish. The Israeli government should protect it’s citizens from Collaborationist Progressive and Islamo-Imperialist aggression, that is their job! Is that not the reason Israel exists as being a Jewish homeland?

(Hat Tip – Wrath of G_D)

This is Wrath’s comment on this disturbing event!

–This is how the “peace process” according to the U.S. and the International community works.  It was seen in the 2005 Expulsion of innocent Jews from their homes in order to please the Muslim terrorists, and is playing itself out again now.  The World insists that Jews be allauded inferior to no rights, and insist that parts of the World be Judenrein.  This is Anti-Semitism at play, whether people recognize it or not.  What was the crime of this family? – only being Jewish.

Wrath, I could not agree more!

Global Warming Exposed as Multitrillion Dollar Junk Science Scam

Four events during the past two months have exposed anthropogenic climate change as the twenty-first century's Piltdown Man or Cardiff Giant... Global warming is probably the biggest junk science scam of all in terms of its ambition to transfer money from working people to speculators and similar parasites, manufacturing firms in China and India, and the United Nations. Had carbon taxes and cap-and-trade mandates actually gone into effect, the trusts of the 19th century would have rolled in their graves with envy. We refer specifically to:

  • FACT: Disposal of raw data by the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit, admitted openly by same. This makes it impossible for other scientists to reproduce the CRU's results independently, so any conclusions from that data are null and void according to the generally accepted standards of scientific research.
  • FACT: Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) wrote a letter to the Wall Street Journal that says openly that the real purpose of cap and trade is to enrich Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan Chase (both of which bundled more than half a million dollars to elect Barack Obama), along with the Green Exchange and New York Stock Exchange.
  • CREDIBLE ALLEGATION: A supervisor at Barack Obama's Environmental Protection Agency allegedly committed scientific misconduct and academic dishonesty by ordering a subordinate to suppress information that did not support Team Obama's cap and trade agenda. Kimberley Strassel's column in the Wall Street Journal names the supervisor, who could probably sue the WSJ for libel if the accusation was false and reckless. The WSJ must therefore be sure of its ground to publish something like this.

The Climate Scandal Has Diverted Attention From the Climate Scandal

The Bottle Genie

Well, it finally happened. Much of Canadian media broke radio silence on Climategate today. There really wasn't much choice but to report it, now that Environment Minister Jim Prentice had officially described the allegations as "serious", coupled with the day-old news that CRU head Phil Jones was "stepping aside" in preparation for his encounter with a double-decker.

As of this evening, there are 23,100,000 Google results for "climategate" - and exactly one on-air report from the CBC.

It's been 14 days since the cork was pulled from FOIA 2009.zip

And as it turns out, the concerted efforts of a protective mainstream media to ignore the scandal turned out to be worst possible course of events for the University of Anglia's motley CRU and their supporters in the wealth distribution industry.

They gave us something very powerful - 14 days of time. Time, while scores of bloggers and thousands of readers put in uncountable man hours of dissection and analysis.

Time for those who'd been discussed and copied in the leaked emails to confirm that there was no evidence of tampering.

Time for programmers to sift through Harry's now famous code line by line, to test it for themselves.

Time for members of the academic community to get their outrage and condemnation on the record, and on their own terms. Time for those who'd been targeted to retell their stories.

Time for opinion columnists and talk radio to break ranks and take on the job their news editors refused to do, to disseminate the facts gathered, checked and analyzed by bloggers to a wider audience.

Time for the comments sections of every online newspaper in the western world to fill with angry demands from their readers to cover the damned story. Not because they were needed anymore, but because we wanted the stupid charade to end.

So when Peter Mansbridge went on the National tonight to admit what he had surely known for days, we didn't watch to find out what's contained in FOIA 2009.zip, for we'd read it for ourselves.

We only watched to see if he had.

For perhaps the first time in the history of mass media, the gatekeepers broke a major scandal to an audience fully 10 days ahead of them.

It's a spin doctor's worst nightmare.

As I've been saying from the beginning, they're hearing the sound of all hell breaking loose. And as much as it's being directed at the research institutions and the policy makers following along like so many imprinted penguins, the bulk of public rage has focused on the media.

I don't think my friends in traditional news gathering truly appreciate what it is they've done. I don't believe they fully comprehend how gravely they have injured themselves, and how they're driving home the razor into an industry already struggling for survival with abbreviated, dismissive, misleading reports and "denier" and "conspiracy nut" slurs.

The bloggers tried to warn them. The opinion columnists tried to warn them, the talk hosts tried to warn them. Their readers, viewers and listeners tried to warn them.

The news media perfected the business of bombshells. They wind them up, drop them, film the explosion, and move on.

They're just learning now that we're in the business of bottle genies.

Climategate: Another day, another cover-up

Obama science advisers grilled over hacked e-mails (It's ON!)

The ‘science’ of global warming [HOW THE SCIENCE GOT SETTLED]

EDITORIAL: Denying the global-cooling cover-up

President Obama's climate czar, Carol M. Browner, claims that Climategate is not important and that global warming is settled science. "[The U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has] been studying this issue for a very long time and agree this problem is real," she said last week, six days after the scandal first broke about fudged global-warming research.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs repeated the claim yesterday. This obtuseness exposes the Obama administration's complicity in aiding and abetting the fraud involved to stir up climate-change hysteria.

Responsibility for continuing to perpetuate this scandal goes all the way to the top. Mr. Obama ignored and thus belittled the controversy when he announced that he would be attending the upcoming Copenhagen global warming conference on Dec. 7. Unfortunately, the Obama administration is disregarding the fact that the very people caught up in Climategate are the very same ones who wrote the U.N. climate report that will form the basis of discussion at Copenhagen.

Oh, my goodness

President “Duality” Obama wanted his pointless but flashy “jobs summit” to be grounded in reality, not “at 30,000 feet.” He wanted to hear “details” and “real solutions,” but cautioned that nothing much would be changed by the “summit.” He said the private sector was the only way we’d get out of this mess, but that the uninvited private sector is the problem, because small businesses are greedily looking after their own survival, rather than hiring more people that they’ll only have to fire later, when the government raises their operating costs into the stratosphere.

Barack Obama – who is nowhere near as good at triangulation as Bill Clinton was- has never worked in the private sector, and – as indicated by this chart- he has no appreciation of it; he has no idea what it means to be a businessman, and to offer goods in order to create profit, which creates jobs, which create more small business -all of which generates tax revenue.

Let’s look at what even the NY Times was forced to admit, in those bad-old days of 2005-2006 and the evil Bush Tax Cuts:

…an unexpectedly steep rise in tax revenues from corporations and the wealthy is driving down the projected budget deficit this year, even though spending has climbed sharply because of the war in Iraq and the cost of hurricane relief.

White House officials are expected to announce that the tax receipts will be about $250 billion above last year’s levels and that the deficit will be about $100 billion less than what they projected six months ago. The rising tide in tax payments has been building for months, but the increased scale is surprising even seasoned budget analysts and making it easier for both the administration and Congress to finesse the big run-up in spending over the past year.

Tax revenues are climbing twice as fast as the administration predicted in February, so fast that the budget deficit could actually decline this year.

The main reason is a big spike in corporate tax receipts, which have nearly tripled since 2003, as well as what appears to be a big increase in individual taxes on stock market profits and executive bonuses.

These were, of course, the years when the press was unable to deliver good economic news without a dire “but…”; when they felt completely comfortable writing headlines like these, based on nothing that was then real.

Read that NY Times except, and recall that 2006, when it was written, was the year of the Happy Fun Headline Game, in which the press delivered every piece of good news with a poisoned rag.

2006 was also the year the Republicans and Conservatives got distracted by A.N.S.W.E.R., who staged La Ra marches in an election year and manipulated the center-Right (who bought all those flags?) into an immigration hysteria so vast, absolute, all-consuming and inflexible that its reverberations are still being felt. Nothing at all has changed in that issue (nor will it until both sides get serious about statesmanship) but it is interesting to note that the marchers (and all those flags) have never reappeared since then. The Big Immigration Crisis of 2006 was simply a show -a brilliantly-executed tactic meant to convulse the right, which it did; they decided they’d rather pretend “shipping them all back” was an actual, viable solution and to “lose in ‘06, to win in ‘08.” The incredibly-wealthy Democrats (aided by the press) successfully played class warrior with the American psyche over the Bush Tax Cuts, and then went for the kill on immigration.

All hello, Speaker Pelosi and Egregious Mr. Reid. Hello Barack Obama, who never ran a thing, voted “present” for most of his legislative career, but who sure likes to campaign and put on shows; the cynical candidate for a cynical party who knew America could be swayed by showmanship.

Honestly, after listening to Obama, today, I comforted myself by remembering that sometimes seemingly negative things must happen, in order for positives to come about; that if Rudy Giuliani had not dropped out of a senate race against Hillary Clinton, he’d have been in Washington D.C. on 9/11, and not where he was needed.

Things happen for reasons. It’s not always easy to remember that, though, when you are out of work, and the President thinks the best way to address that is by dissing small business owners and putting on a show. Remember, back in May they were telling us “the recession is over.”

I begin to feel like Barack Obama wakes up every morning, looks into the mirror through the smoke of a damp cigarette, and -like Roy Schieder in All that Jazz- smiles and declares, “Showtime!”

Allahpundit says Obama is going to make a primetime speech about his show.

Moe Lane says next unemployment figures will be up. It’s called “remaking America.” Make it stop, please.

I’m glad it’s Advent.

I hope that God will supply for everything and I feel a confidence in his divine Providence which keeps me above all troubles. So I remain calm and in peace in the midst of a thousand worries and complicates in which I should have expected, naturally speaking, to be overwhelmed.
. . .
Let us accept everything from the hand of our good Father, and he will keep us in peace in the midst of the greatest disasters of this world, the fashion of which passes away in a flash. Our life will be holy and tranquil in proportion as we trust in God and abandon ourselves to him. Without that self abandonment, this is no solid virtue, no sure repose.

A Letter From Grandpa

Jack G. is 64 years old and owns a small business. He's a life-long Republican and sees his dream of retiring next year has all but evaporated. With the stock market crashing and new taxes coming his way, Jack assumes now that he will work to his dying day.

Jack has a granddaughter, Ashley. She is a recent college grad. She drives a flashy hybrid car, wears all the latest fashions, loves to go out to nightclubs and restaurants and takes dream vacations.

Ashley campaigned hard for Barack Obama. After the election she made sure her grandfather (and all other Republican family members) received a big I told-you-so earful on how the world is going to be a much better place now that her party is taking over.

Recently having lost both roommates, Ashley ran short of cash and cannot pay the rent on her 3 bedroom townhouse. Like she has done many times in the past, she e-mailed her grandfather asking for some financial help.

Here is his reply:

Sweetheart,

I received your request for assistance. Ashley, you know I love you dearly and I 'm sympathetic to your financial plight. Unfortunately, times have changed. With the election of President Obama, your grandmother and I have had to set forth a bold new economic plan of our own... "The Ashley Economic Empowerment Plan." Let me explain.

Your grandmother and I are life-long, wage-earning tax payers. We have lived a comfortable life, as you know, but we have never had the fancier things like European vacations, luxury cars, etc. We have worked hard and were looking forward to retiring soon. But the plan has changed.

Your president is raising our personal and business taxes significantly. He says it is so he can give our hard earned money to other people. Do you know what this means, Ashley?

It means less for us, and we must cut back on many business and personal expenses.

You know the wonderful receptionist who worked in my office for more than 3 years? The one who always gave you candy when you came over to visit? I had to let her go last week. I can't afford to pay her salary and all of the government mandated taxes that go with having employees.

Your grandmother will now work 4 days a week to answer phones, take orders and handle the books. We will be closed on Fridays and will lose even more income to Wal-Mart.

I'm also very sorry to report that your cousin Bob will no longer be working summers in the warehouse. I called him at school this morning. He already knows about it and he's upset because he will have to give up skydiving and his yearly trip to Greenland to survey the polar bears.

That's just the business side of things. Some personal economic effects of Obama's new taxation policies include none other than you. You know very well that over the years your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in cash, tuition assistance, food, housing, clothing, gifts, etc, etc. But by your vote, you have chosen to help others -- not at your expense -- but at our expense.

If you need money now, sweetheart, I recommend you call 202-456-1111. That is the direct phone number for the White House. You yourself told me how foolish it is to vote Republican. You said Mr. Obama is going to be the People's President, and is going to help every American live a better life. Based on everything you've told me, along with all the promises we heard during the campaign, I'm sure Mr.. Obama will be happy to transfer some stimulus money into your bank account. Have him call me for the account number which I memorized years ago.

Perhaps you can now understand what I've been saying all my life: those who vote for a president should consider the impact on the nation as a whole, and not be just concerned with what they can get for themselves. What Obama supporters don't seem to realize is all of the money he is redistributing to illegal aliens and non-taxpaying Americans (the so-called "less fortunate") comes from tax-paying families.

Remember how you told me, "Only the richest of the rich will be affected"? Well guess what, honey?

Because we own a business, your grandmother and I are now considered to be the richest of the rich. On paper, it might look that way, but in the real world, we are far from it.

As you said while campaigning for Obama, some people will have to carry more of the burden so all of America can prosper. You understand what that means, right? It means that raising taxes on productive people results in them having less money; less money for everything, including granddaughters.

I'm sorry, Ashley, but the well has run dry. The free lunches are over.. I have no money to give you now. So, congratulations on your choice for "change."

For future reference, I encourage you to try and add up the total value of the gifts and cash you have received from us, just since you went off to college, and compare it to what you expect to get from Mr. Obama over the next 4 (or 8) years. I have not kept track of it.

Remember, we love you dearly....but from now on you'll need to call the number mentioned above. Your "savior" has the money we would have given to you.

Just try and get it from him.

Good luck, sweetheart.

Love,

Grandpa

An EMP in Your Future

by Baron Bodissey

EMPOur Flemish correspondent VH has translated a series of reports from the Dutch media about the frightening possibility that Iran will use nuclear weapons to create a catastrophic electromagnetic pulse (EMP) over the coast of Europe as well as over the United States.

First, from De Telegraaf:

PVV fears attack by Iran

The PVV is seriously worried about alarming intelligence reports on Iranian missile launchings from cargo ships. According to weapons experts the Iranian launching tests from sea are a clear sign that the regime is practicing the launching of EMP missiles: nuclear loads that are detonated at high altitude and generate an electromagnetic pulse (EMP).

“One such EMP wave paralyzes a complete continent. The radiation burns electronics over a region thousands of kilometers in circumference, as a result of which everything falls silent: transport, electricity infrastructure, communications. A country is “flashed back” to the Middle Ages, experts warn.

By using ships as a launch platform on commercial shipping routes, relatively simple missiles, with a limited range, can be used to hit the heart of Europe and America. Iran acknowledged several weeks ago that it can launch missiles from the sea with extreme precision.

MP Raymond de Roon and MEP Louis Bontes, both PVV, believe that the Netherlands and Europe are blind to this danger. The politicians are demanding that measures to be taken, such as the Americans take to protect vital infrastructure. Bontes: “Reports of the U.S. EMP commission show that it is technically possible, at a relatively low cost, but the Netherlands is doing nothing.”

The politicians want Iranian ships to remain as far away as possible from the Dutch coast, and all Iranian ship movements to be monitored. “From an Iranian freighter an EMP attack can be started relatively easily by launching by a missile. It cannot be that the United States, and recently England, have prohibited all transactions with the Iranian state shipping company while these ships still are able to happily sail in the Port of Rotterdam.”

PVV MP Roon demands, based on a revealing report in newspaper De Telegraaf [“Deadly cargo”, see below], clarity on whether the “the brand-new national disaster communication network, which in the toughest conditions would be used by Dutch authorities and emergency services, are rather EMP-resistant”.

VH adds:

PVV MP Raymond de Roon has questioned the Minister of Defense and the Interior Minister in response to reports that Iran is secretly developing the means to launch a disruptive attack with an electromagnetic pulse.

From the answers he received it became clear that the Netherlands is not at all ready to defend against such an attack. […] The Minister of Defense did not even seem to be aware of this danger, and only expressed the hope that a “unit” would be aware of the documents that show the possibility of this threat. Ultimately, the Home Secretary promised that the risks and consequences of an EMP attack will be dealt with in a report that will be issued late 2009 […] so it can be decided what is needed to obtain an acceptable for such security”. In written questions to the ministers, Raymond de Roon among other things has asked whether the Government also takes into account the deployment of such weapons not by Iran, but by a terrorist organization that is supplied by Iran.

Iran might be able to win a war against West

By Encina Navan

The war of Iran against the west is primarily psychological. Those who poorly understand the intentions of the other have already lost much.

The report [see “PVV fears attack by Iran”] about Iran sending freighter ships to Europe with an eye to a future war is not surprising. The report once again makes clear that the fate of Europe is strongly linked to that of Israel.

An EMP attack on Europe could remove the support for Israel and pave the way for a massive land attack against Israel with the aim of conquering Jerusalem.

It of course is quite easy to reject this scenario as being far-fetched, because it is in such sharp contrast to the Western technological superiority we experience daily. But this superiority is at present entirely based on one technique: the chip.

A nuclear EMP attack may disable the electronic circuits in a large part of Europe [note], but also a non-nuclear EMP attack could do that [note].

In the U.S. ever since the Cold War the effects of an EMP attack have been considered:

Even scarier, say policy analysts, is the growing threat of an EMP, an intense burst of energy from an exploding nuclear warhead high above the Earth. Experts believe such an attack could destroy all electronic devices over a massive area, from cell phones to computers to America’s electrical grid.

Within a year of that attack nine out of 10 Americans would be dead, because we can’t support a population of the present size in urban centers and the like without electricity, said Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy. That would be a world without America, as a practical matter. And that is exactly what I believe the Iranians are working towards. [source: National Terror Alert — emphasis added by author]

Admitted: chips can be effectively protected against an EMP attack, but at present only major military circuits have this protection and thus not civilian targets. [read extensively on the background of this here]. The economy can thus be paralyzed.

Objection 1. It is for Iran still all but about Jerusalem. Europe has nothing to do with this.

This is what Iran wants to make us to believe. Iran plays a refined game of geostrategy. In every possible way Iran tries to raise the impression that it is busy with a nuclear weapon and that the nuclear weapons will be aimed at Israel. Both strategies are complementary: they must both be kept at the forefront, otherwise nothing will come true of the whole idea.

Jerusalem is important, but Jerusalem will be conquered by knocking out Europe. With an EMP attack that can be done, without Iran having to risk a war on the ground. Iran knows that in the case of an attack on the ground against them, the invaders will be technologically superior.

Objection 2. This plan cannot succeed because most Muslims in Iran are Shia and most Muslims in Europe are Sunni.

The distinction between the two groups is merely on their difference in opinion on who the successor of the Prophet is, and some other minor historical issues. On 99% on their faith, the Sunni and Shia agree. If Iran succeeds in resisting the power of Europe and even in conquering Jerusalem, the country then will have overcome such an important psychological threshold that in the eyes of many Muslims it will deserve the leadership. Remember that Egypt in earlier centuries was Shia, and that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has lost considerable authority. The erasing of humiliations caused by the past defeats by Israel is very important.

Objection 3. An EMP attack is not enough. The army is protected against this and still can respond.

The army can only operate a limited time without transport of supplies from the civil economy. The purpose of an EMP attack is more aimed at the civil structure, because that is unprotected. As the economy collapses, when production stagnates and panic breaks out, it will prove to be impossible to keep the military operational, let alone deploy it abroad [this may possibly also be the case when the economy collapses due to hyperinflation or a bank-crash].

Objection 4. Because the military is protected against an EMP attack, it will disable the sources of the attack, after which the circuits can be restored. This will provide Iran with very little time and above all the certainty of retaliation.

Iran perhaps only needs a few weeks to at least conquer Jerusalem [in such a case]. If this then succeeds, the enthusiasm among Muslims will tilt the balance. Volunteers will be flocking to the area to die as martyrs. Moreover, at the same time the situation in Europe will be changing. Initially there will be chaos, because nothing works: lights, computers [internet], remote controls, automatic doors, security, elevators, etc. People who depend on these devices will be overcome by helplessness. People accustomed to the use of (small) weapons [and who have them at home] have more options to take action in such a situation [which is valid for both the “good” and the “bad”].

Widespread rioting will enable Muslims to achieve greater powers in the districts, such as installing Sharia. Once a few months have elapsed, Muslim organizations across Europe will have made use of such situation to further Islamize their environment. Entire neighborhoods will have gone over to Islamic government, and will have instituted the Sharia, expelled Jews, turned Christians to dhimmis, and displaced gay people or murdered them.

They in groups will plunder a wide area, while European governments in underground factories are desperately trying to produce enough chips to at least restore everyday life. A war against Iran or supping Israel would be out of the question, it will be up to these European countries first to try to survive.

There can hardly be a question of retaliation, because Europe will have little to gain from that. The only alternative for European leaders will be to immediately retaliate with nuclear warheads launched from submarines.

Objection 5. Iran depends on oil revenues and can not afford so such a deep crisis with Europe.

This reasoning depends on a suppressed premise, namely that rational leaders would make the same considerations as leaders in Europe might do. This precisely is not the case. Iran pursues an ideological war with the aim of establishing the Islam in the entire world, whereby that country attributes to itself the leadership.

For such a purpose, millions of deaths are a small sacrifice, especially considering that the martyrs will end up in heaven. The earthly world is but only a preparation for the afterlife. Furthermore, a Europe that is trying to recover from an EMP attack is even more dependent on oil than before. Moreover there are other buyers of oil, such as India, Japan and China. [Although their Western sales market will be in disorder]

Objection 6. Muslims in Europe are in general not pro-Iran. This country would not achieve a lot towards installing Sharia in the urban areas of Europe.

In the short term this is certainly true, but Iran is not implementing a short-term policy. The massive riots in Europe would have the primary objective of distracting the European governments until the conquest of Jerusalem is achieved. The leadership of Iran then subsequently in the following years would have to work on the attitude of the Muslims to reorient themselves slowly towards Iran. The demographics at that time will do the rest. Of course do also the leaders of Iran know that a military occupation of Europe is not feasible.

Objection 7. The scenario is of too large a scale and contains too many uncertainties.

That is exactly what makes it so attractive for people like Ahmadinejad who adheres to a messianic worldview. To them, the psychological factor, the wish to achieve great things, is much more motivating than the careful weighing of small steps forward. The reality is for them is no more than the imperative to establish the glory of Allah. Symbolism is more important than the reality.

The uncertainties to them are opportunities for a new glorious future. Hitler was not deterred by uncertainties. Hitler realized that he could occupy Paris by first defeating Poland [Others think that when the remilitarization of the Rhineland in 1936 was left unanswered, the way was paved to occupy countries to the east. Compare Iran’s militarization: nuclear weapons program, arming Hizbullah].

With the recapture of al-Quds, Iran will achieve two very important goals: the leadership in the Islamic world by regaining a holy city, and by erasing the past humiliations caused by the defeats by Israel, for which Europe is considered partly responsible.

Also important is that Iran wants to show the world that Iran is willing counter insult, such as with the Muhammad cartoons, by erasing it with blood. Iran needs the support of Muslims in Europe to be able to claim this leadership. Why? Because Iran traditionally faces great mistrust in its own region. If Iran succeeds in motivating Muslims in Europe, this will certainly have an echo in the rest of the Muslim world.

Iran may receive this support because Muslims in Europe are eager for spiritual leadership, that they are not only hardly able to find in their own environment, but also in the countries of origin of their parents.

Once this stage is reached, Iran will find itself in a new situation. It can conquer the Gulf States and reduce Saudi Arabia to a vassal state. Remember that Iranian rebels back in 1979 tried to conquer the great mosque in Mecca[1], and in 1981 to conquer Mecca itself [also, this year the Saudis were preparing for a riot by Iranian Hajis: “Saudi Arabia has bolstered its security force amid threats that Iran could disrupt the annual Islamic pilgrimage.”]. Iran and Saudi Arabia are already waging a state border [proxy] war in Yemen.

Geert Wilders is right when he says that Israel is the frontline of the West against the entirety of Islam. With this distinction, that the true purpose of Islam is the Islamization of Europe, and not that of Jerusalem. The Islamization of Europe would break the power of the U.S., and then Iran would have achieved what the Soviet Union always failed to do.

Note:

[1]   400 armed Islamic extremists seized the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979, taking hundreds of pilgrims hostage and calling for the overthrow of the Saudi monarchy and for severance of all ties with the West. They were crushed only after two weeks of tough fighting in which 250 people were killed. The Saudi government publicly beheaded 67 captured militants. The young Osama bin Laden is said to have been deeply impressed by the revolt and told his friends that the insurgents were “true Muslims.” [source] “Otaibi and Qahtani had met while being imprisoned together for sedition, when Otaibi claimed to have a vision sent by God telling him that Qahtani was the Mahdi. Their declared goal was to institute a theocracy in preparation for the imminent apocalypse. Many of their followers were drawn from theology students at the Islamic University in Medina, which was known as a center of the Muslim Brotherhood. Other followers came from Yemen, Kuwait, and Egypt and also included some Muslim African-Americans.” [source].

Finally, from De Telegraaf:

Deadly cargo

By Bart Olmer

Around midnight on the night of November 3 last, on the Mediterranean Sea near Cyprus, 100 nautical miles west of Israel, an Israeli commando unit intercepted the container ship Francop, which had been shadowed by the Mossad since its departure from Damietta. In that Egyptian port the ship had loaded containers from another ship, cargo from Bandar Abbas, Iran. [The website of De Telegraaf has a video of the interception of the Iranian freighter full of weapons.]

During a first, cursory inspection aboard, the Israeli navy seals at once discovered ammunition boxes in the containers, upon which the Francop-crew immediately received command to shift the course. No longer could the smuggling ship head to the West-Syrian port city of Latakia, but rather had to moor in the Israeli port of Ashdod for a thorough search.

Once on the quay 36 containers were found with 500 tons of weapons, hidden behind bags of polyethylene, raw material for the manufacture of plastic goods. The 24,224 bags of plastic powder camouflaged the true load: 2800 artillery shells, 9000 mortar shells, 20,000 cluster bombs, 600,000 rifle cartridges, 3,000 anti-tank grenades and 20,000 hand grenades. Weaponry, destined for Hezbollah in Lebanon. These images of this are on the Telegraaf website.

Clandestine

The Francop trafficking illustrates how bold and cunning Iran evades sanctions, as described in a secret foreign intelligence report: a range of clandestine operations in order to evade sanctions, with the use of its fleet of ships and the banking system.

The Central Bank of Iran is designated as an important tool in the avoidance of financial sanctions: “This Bank assists companies and organizations that are affected by sanctions so that they can continue their illegal activities,” one intelligence source said.

Iran is also suspected of setting up “front companies”, behind which offending companies continue their illegal operations. Iran also abused other countries as a base for its boycotted banks, such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai, hubs for international financial markets, and foreign subsidiary companies, to evade sanctions.

To erase financial trails for the U.S. intelligence service, Iran uses hardly any dollars and prefers to pay only in euros, Asian, and other local currencies. Also the intelligence services see that Iran forcedly uses civilian techniques used for military use, such as advanced milling machines, which can be abused in the arms industry.

But Iran has more tricks. As revealed with the Francop-affair, the country abuses innocent goods and misleading routes to disguise the true intentions, according to intelligence sources.

The Francop arms shipment was “scrambled”: within days it was loaded from one to the other in different ports using different ships: in Bandar Abbas (Iran) on the boat Sakas, in Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates) on the ship Visea, and then in Damietta (Egypt) the — later intercepted — Francop.

An important role in the evasion of sanctions is played by the Iranian state shipping company IRISL, against which more and more countries are taking measures. “This shipping company gathers its fleet under foreign flags, constantly changes its fleet of names and abuses foreign lease-ships to circumvent controls,” according to one intel report. “Francop” sailed for instance under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda and was hired by a seemingly unsuspicious Cypriot transporter: “United Feeding Services”.

It is these cargo ships that are listed in a horrifying scenario, on which intelligence agencies are warning of: the launching a nuclear warhead from a ship in order to get close enough to the target area. The explosion is not intended to directly cause damage, but a radiation wave, a so called Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), to cause all electronics be eliminated in one blow. “Iran is practicing the firing of missiles from cargo ships, which from the outside are no different from regular cargo ships”, American intelligence experts say.

A few months ago Dr. William Graham, a former White House adviser, raised the alarm on a series of Iranian tests from the Caspian Sea, whereby Scud rockets were launched from cargo ships. Not in a curve, but straight up, where the missiles at their maximum altitude exploded.

Graham and other weapons experts regard this as uncanny: “The only likely explanation we can find is that the Iranians are working out how to launch a missile from a ship to very high altitudes, to have them explode there. That is precisely what they might do if they have a nuclear warhead on a Scud or a Shahab-3 missile, and want it to explode above the U.S.,” said Graham, chairman of a special commission established by the American Congress, to assess the threat of a potential EMP attack.

Sneak Attack

Graham’s commission frankly warns of a sneak attack: “Even if a primitive nuclear weapon were to explode at altitude between 40 and 400 kilometers, that would generate an electromagnetic pulse within a fraction of a second, paralyzing all military and civilian technology: communications, transport, water, food and electricity. A long range missile is not necessary: such an attack can be launched from a freighter along the U.S. coast or European coast, using a medium range missile,” committee chairman Graham said.

To the Congress, Graham stated that Iranian military documents, intercepted by the CIA, explicitly say that a nuclear EMP attack must force America to its knees. “The probability of an EMP attack is greater than during the Cold War.” Other weapons experts are warning without any reservation: “Iran is planning to knock out the U.S. with one nuclear bomb”, or “Iran has plans to cripple the U.S. with a one nuclear payload.”

A U.S. missile study group revealed a few months ago that Iran recently performed tests to make Shahab-3 missiles explode remotely, during the flight, with one push of a button. This is, according to technical experts in this independent study group, “a clear indication that an EMP attack is being practiced “.

This would be a true Armageddon, because each affected country would literally be flashed back to the nineteenth century. Not directly due to the explosion, but within one weeks, people would be dying like flies, especially in the cities, because of lack of drinking water, sanitation, food, fuel, and communications. “The modern electronic economy ceases to exist, America falls back to a on barter-based society. The American population then will be down to approximately 30 million people, roughly the number at the time of American independence,” according to Graham’s grim warning.

The committee strongly warns of the dangers of the Iranian cargo fleet, which makes unobstructed use of commercial shipping routes all over the globe.

“If Iran launches a rocket from a cargo ship sailing in the commercial shipping routes along the U.S. East Coast, a scenario that seems to have been trained for with the latest Iranian missile tests in the Caspian Sea, then we may never find out who was responsible for the attack. To erase all traces, the Iranians could simply have them sink the ship,” Graham said. During these tests Iran made use of ships whose radar and technical equipment were comparable to the dozens of surrounding vessels. To investigate which ship might has a launching pad would take months.

Only a few weeks ago, the highest Iranian naval commander gave reasons for the fear of this Armageddon scenario. “The precision capability of Iranian missiles is nearly 100 percent,” said Brigadier General Ali Fadavi against an Iranian news agency. “Iran is now one of the countries that possess the technology to fire missiles from ships and submarines with maximum precision and minimum deviation.” Arms experts point to the circumstance that China, Iran and North Korea are developing small, quiet, diesel-powered submarines, which can operate in shallow coastal waters.

Disturbance

In Dutch policy documents on disaster relief there is no mention of a widespread EMP attack, or a deliberate disruption of the electricity supply.

The Ministry of Interior in a — later classified as “confidential state secret” — study by the Dutch TNO recently described how Dutch society would be disrupted if one province were to be without electricity due to a terrorist action.

The study reads like a chilling scenario, but still is a child’s game compared to a full “black-out”: gas stations can not provide fuel, communications break down in the area, special broadcasting channels in case of a disaster, such as on radio, TV and internet, are not working, drinking water becomes contaminated, water pumping stations stop working, stores will be closed, food supplies must be controlled, livestock is in serious problems, lack of cash, payments are stopped, problems in prisons by faltering food and water supplies, shortage of cells by riots, farmers want to evacuate their livestock, patients dying in hospitals, social unrest, hoarding behavior, and flight behavior, as is described in the most recent “National Risk Assessment”. There is a chance that a terrorist group will see the electricity sector as a potential target, as it causes a massive disruption of daily life,” according to the national safety report.

Blogmocracy In Action

Guest Blogger: Doriangrey

How do criminals masquerading as politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Barbra Boxer keep getting re-elected? The answer is frighteningly simple. Money, in California for example it cost nearly one million dollars to run a genuinely effective Senate seat challenge.

If you don’t have a million dollars to run your campaign you are not going to challenge a sitting incumbent, period. Take me for example, I would gladly challenge Barbra Boxer for her senate seat. But I have no name recognition, no party funding (I’m far to conservative for the plastic fake California Republican Party) and no personal fortune with which to challenge Sen. Boxer.

American politics have become an Oligarchy run by special interest groups and unions. Average working stiff’s like me are shut out not only of the possibility of running, but of even having a regular working class individual to represent our political views.

We have become nothing less than a ATM machine for corrupt professional politicians, a surf class of laborers good only to be told what is good for us because our new Aristocratic leaders are so much smarter than we are.

The Mother E’ffing Mainstream Marxist Propaganda Media (which has become so corrupt that it makes the old Soviet Pravda blush) has transformed from the Fourth Estate into a Marxist Fifth Column. They combined with the special interests groups and the unions have in effect stolen from “We the People” any genuine ability to determine whom our elected officials will be.

The frightening and sad fact is that whilst we decry the obvious fraud of Iran’s Presidential elections we suffer under a currently inequitable system every bit as fraudulent. Wealthy and powerful people hidden deeply in the darkest shadows decide for us who we can and cannot vote for.

Our founding fathers warned us not to allow professional politicians to gain control of our political process, they considered professional politicians to be the lowest form of scoundrel. It is a damned shame and possible an outright crime against those courageous men that we failed to listen to their advice.

Instead of the citizen patriots that they envisioned running our great republic, we have Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha and Barbra Boxer. Our founding fathers surely are looking down on us and thinking, what fools our children have become.

From Wiki, but... valid: Kleptocracies are generally associated with corrupt forms of totalitarian governments, particularly dictatorships, oligarchies, military juntas, or some other form of autocratic and nepotist government in which no outside oversight is possible due to the ability of the kleptocrat(s) to personally control both the supply of public funds and the means of determining their disbursal. A kleptocratic ruler typically treats their country’s treasury as though it were their own personal bank account,

( Bam-bam's "stash..." )

spending the funds on luxury goods as they see fit. Many kleptocratic rulers also secretly transfer public funds into secret personal numbered bank accounts in foreign countries in order to provide them with continued luxury if/when they are eventually removed from power and forced to flee the country.

Polls: Pollster.com's Aggregated Average Puts Obama Underwater: Carville's Democracy Corps Says Conservatives Make Big Gains

—Ace

On Pollster.com's poll aggregator, the disapprove line has now met the approve line. Well, pretty much.

Carville's Democracy Corps poll says that self-identified "conservatives" now comprise 45% of the electorate. Up 5% since Obama's inauguration; up 7 since the election. The gains seem to come right out of the "moderate" group.

Which would seem to mean that, yeah, the party can and should move away from RINOs in most places and towards conservatives.

Rex Murphy ~ Climate Change: Science or Politics?

Here, courtesy of Mississauga Matt, is Mr. Rex Murphy's latest commentary, Climate Change: Science or Politics? Interestingly, perhaps, on 2006-07-06 it was noted here at SDA that Mr. Murphy wrote, in Selling something, Dr. Suzuki?, in the Globe and Mail, on 2002-09-28:

"Ratifying the Kyoto Protocol is a real debate, has real costs, is a mix of guesses, best estimates and conflicting claims, with real consequences whichever way it's decided. For the sake of the debate, let's lay off the science unless it is science."

Now, seven years later, here we are. The climate change shysters lied to us. For two weeks now I've been waiting for a definitive public summary of the situation ~ not for students of politics, for Kate has covered that ~ rather something my mother, god bless her, at 83, and other normal folks, can understand. Thank you, Rex Murphy.

A cornucopia of climate stories

http://climate-change.newsvine.com/

I read some of the comments to Monbiot's ridiculous "blame Canada" article.

One apologetic Canadian lefty certainly let the cat out of the bag with this one. Speaking of the oil workers:

They expect high wages and solid benefits from union jobs that require nothing more than a strong back. I've met some of those hard hats from the tar sands - thick as planks and they make a hundred-grand a year. One guy - 22 years old and a Grade 10 drop-out - made a quarter million running a backhoe. I was a decade in university and I don?t make half that. Those Epsilons are laughing at me!

Rarely have the true motivations of the Left - snobbery and envy - been displayed so openly.

"How dare those rednecks make more money than me, a dweeb who spent a decade writing papers about Gender Studies at university! Damn them!"

FOR SCIENCE, a credibility bubble? “Hard science, alongside medicine, was one of the few things left accorded automatic stature and respect by most untrained lay persons. But the average person reading accounts of the East Anglia emails will conclude that hard science has become just another faction, as politicized and ‘messy’ as, say, gender studies.” When trust is abused, you get less of it. And people really don’t like feeling like suckers.

UPDATE: Censorship In Copenhagen?

ROGER SIMON: ClimateGate — It Ain’t Just About The Weather.

It’s about science and its relationship to politics and profit, the academy, the state and, perhaps most importantly, information control. . . . That is why Barbara Boxer is in shrill blaming-the-messenger mode, insisting that any Congressional investigation of Climategate would target the nefarious “hacker.” She realizes a great unraveling could come from this. So do to the global bureaucrats at the UN and the EU as they prepare for the Copenhagen conference. It is also why the mainstream media was so slow to report the East Anglia CRU emails and documents. They know that if you begin to report these things, you have to report on a lot of other things they have so scrupulously chosen to avoid. . . . No wonder Ms. Boxer is squawking. All the members of our own nomenklatura should be alarmed. Something very dangerous could happen from this – true democracy.

‘Global Warming’ May Cause New Ice Age

December 3rd, 2009

From LiveScience:

Big Freeze: Earth Could Plunge into Sudden Ice Age

By Charles Q. Choi, Special to LiveScience

02 December 2009

In the film, "The Day After Tomorrow," the world gets gripped in ice within the span of just a few weeks. Now research now suggests an eerily similar event might indeed have occurred in the past.

Looking ahead to the future, there is no reason why such a freeze shouldn’t happen again — and in ironic fashion it could be precipitated if ongoing changes in climate force the Greenland ice sheet to suddenly melt, scientists say.

Starting roughly 12,800 years ago, the Northern Hemisphere was gripped by a chill that lasted some 1,300 years. Known by scientists as the Younger Dryas and nicknamed the "Big Freeze," geological evidence suggests it was brought on when a vast pulse of fresh water — a greater volume than all of North America’s Great Lakes combined — poured into the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.

This abrupt influx, caused when the glacial Lake Agassiz in North America burst its banks, diluted the circulation of warmer water in the North Atlantic, bringing this "conveyer belt" to a halt. Without this warming influence, evidence shows that temperatures across the Northern Hemisphere plummeted.

No time to react

Previous evidence from Greenland ice samples had suggested this abrupt shift in climate happened over the span of a decade or so. Now researchers say it surprisingly may have taken place over the course of a few months, or a year or two at most.

"That the climate system can turn on and off that quickly is extremely important," said earth system scientist Henry Mullins at Syracuse University, who did not take part in this research. "Once the tipping point is reached, there would be essentially no opportunity for humans to react."

Chilly future

Looking ahead to the future, [isotope biogeochemist William] Patterson [for the University of Saskatchewan in Canada] said there was no reason why a big freeze shouldn’t happen again.

"If the Greenland ice sheet melted suddenly it would be catastrophic," he said.

This kind of scenario would not discount evidence pointing toward global warming — after all, it leans on the Greenland ice sheet melting.

"We could say that global warming could lead to a dramatic cooling," Patterson told LiveScience. "This should serve as a further warning rather than a pass."

"People assume that we’re political, that we’re either pro-global-warming or anti-global-warming, when it’s really neither," Patterson added. "Our goal is just to understand climate."

Patterson and his colleagues detailed their findings at the European Science Foundation BOREAS conference on humans in the Arctic, in Rovaniemi, Finland.

That cinches it.

Everything is caused by ‘global warming.’

For their own good

India announced it would not be bound by any decisions reached at the “climate change” summit in Copenhagen said it might participate in any programs supported by “financing and technology transfers”. And in Copenhagen itself the Danish Climate Minister, appointed to become Europe’s fist climate commissioner, said that if “U.S. President Barack Obama offered some financing for a global climate deal it would boost chances of reaching agreement in Copenhagen in the next two weeks”.

“What the world is waiting for now is exactly what will be the American commitments to reduce their emissions,” Hedegaard said and added the world also wanted to know “what kind of financial contributions would come from the American side.”

“There, President Obama could be very helpful if he has something in his pocket … when he comes to Copenhagen. I think it would be very useful.”

Something in the pocket is always very useful in part because getting countries like India to sign on to Copenhagen is like pulling teeth. According to Reuters, India will do nothing contrary to its interest. Any cooperation will be strictly billed.

I still need to remind myself that when these clowns talk about “reducing emissions” they are talking not about pollutants but about CARBON DIOXIDE. The same gas I’m spewing out in horrifying amounts AT THIS VERY MOMENT. EVERYBODY PANIC.

Cap and trade and penalties for emitting carbon dioxide?

Don’t tax me, bro.

Obama is going to Copenhagen just as Hirohito came to the USS Missouri: to sign a treaty of surrender by which Japan–here America–will agree to be governed by an occupation power, consisting in this case by the Euros and the the U. N.

The assumption is of course that all this will be done without a shot being fired.

Corruption is as corruption does, as the news comes out that a “comprehensive tax scam” centred in Denmark revolving around the sale of carbon credits.  Looks like Algore isn’t the only one with his nose at the trough,

First, there were those infamous hacked e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia. Now, a mere seven days before the Copenhagen Conference on climate change, this breaking news story takes the breath away. The whole ‘global warming’ shambles is falling apart. Today, The Copenhagen Post declares: “Denmark Rife With CO2 Fraud”:

“Denmark is the centre of a comprehensive tax scam involving CO2 quotas, in which the cheats exploit a so-called ‘VAT carrousel’, reports Ekstra Bladet newspaper.

Police and authorities in several European countries are investigating scams worth billions of kroner, which all originate in the Danish quota register. The CO2 quotas are traded in other EU countries.”

And the fraud may be of massive proportions:

Ekstra Bladet reporters have found examples of people using false addresses and companies that are in liquidation, which haven’t been removed from the register.

One of the cases, which stems from the Danish register, involves fraud of more than 8 billion kroner. This case, in which nine people have been arrested, is being investigated in England.”

Not related to Climategate, necessarily, except for the common denominator of abject corruption that is increasingly coming to characterise all of this “global warming” nonsense.  Speaking of nonsense, the Australians, at least, are too smart to fall for it.  [Australian] Senate kills off emissions trade laws,

Opposition and crossbench senators have handed the Government a trigger for an early election on climate change by voting down its emissions trading scheme for the second time.

Liberal Senators Sue Boyce and Judith Troeth defied new Liberal leader Tony Abbott and crossed the floor to vote with the Government this morning.

But it was not enough to push the scheme through, with the Greens, Independent Senator Nick Xenophon, and Family First Senator Steve Fielding joining the Opposition in voting down the scheme.

Hopes of getting the legislation through were dashed yesterday when Mr Abbott reversed the Coalition’s position as his first act after ousting Malcolm Turnbull.

BTW, in Australia, the Liberals are conservative, and they just tossed their former leader – Malcolm Turnbull – out on his ear for being such a fanatical AGW pansy.  As usual, the global warming supporters have their panties in a bundle, promising to fight another day while castigating people who rightly refuse to buy into the AGW mythology as “anti-science.”

I find it sadly amusing.  You’re “anti-science” if you actually expect science to follow its own rules and give reproducable results while refraining from dropping inconvenient data into the dumpster.  Yet, you are “pro-science” if you are fully supportive of the efforts by some scientists to completely destroy the reputation that science has in the mind of the common man by cooking data, manufacturing fake results, and then trying to use them to scaremonger people into going along with the implementation of massive governmental regulatory schemes that will cost the average person thousands of dollars a year.

Right.

Here’s an interesting, if not entirely accurate, look at how Climategate exposes global warming supporters as practitioners of faith-based science.  It would be more accurate if he pointed out that Galileo’s accusers, and the ones who actually instigated his persecution for believing in heliocentrism, were Galileo’s own fellow scientists.  Scientists were the ones who hounded Galileo for rejecting the Ptolemaic model, the Catholic church only got interested when the matter was framed in terms of a challenge to its own authority.  Ironically, the pope at the time actually thought Galileo’s writings were pretty snazzy.   Anywise, today, “scientists” are the ones desperately doing anything they can to save their obviously flawed AGW model from facts and truth.

Reason magazine laments the damage that Phil Jones, Michael Mann, and the rest have done to the name of science,

Consider researcher Tom Wigley’s email describing his adjustments to mid-20th century global temperature data in order to lower an inconvenient warming “blip.” According to the global warming hypothesis, late 20th century man-made warming was supposed to be faster than earlier natural warming. But the data show rapid “natural” warming in the 1930s. Adjusting the 1940 temperature blip downward makes a better-looking trend line in support of the notion of rapidly accelerating man-made warming. Collecting and evaluating temperature data requires the exercise of scientific judgment, but Wigley’s emails suggest a convenient correction of 0.15 degree Celsius that fits the man-made global warming hypothesis. The adjustment may be reasonable—changes in instrumentation might need to be accounted for—but all raw data and the methodologies used to adjust them should be publicly available so others can check them to make sure.

In another set of troubling emails, the CRU crew and associates discussed how to freeze out researchers and editors who expressed doubts about the man-made climate change. For example, an email from CRU’s leader Phil Jones saying that he and Kevin Trenberth would keep two dissenting scientific articles out of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s next report “even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!” In addition, the CRU crew evidently plotted to remove journal editors with whom they disagreed and suppress the publication of articles that they disliked. If they actually succeeded, this compounds the tragedy. Eliminating dissenting voices distorts the peer review process and the resulting scientific literature. The world’s policymakers rarely enjoy access to complete information, but the Climategate emails suggest they have been robbed of the chance to get the best information available.

Dude.  In science, there are just certain things you don’t do, and Phil Jones and the rest managed to do most of them.  Which explains why yet another grand high muckety muck in the world of climatology is calling for Phil Jones, among others, to be excluded from the IPCC (link at top).  The guy’s still a True Believer, but at least he recognises the pressure that the AGW cult puts on scientists to toe the line or else face the iron maiden.

That’s it for now, more to come as it comes.

Great Article on ClimateGate from the Sunday Times (UK)

—Ace

Not a lot you haven't heard -- though the scientists now beginning to perk up and say "Wait a damn minute here" is good -- but a great recap. Puts everything into the proper chronology and goes back to the beginning of the dispute -- over the hockey stick, and why that's so very crucial. Anyone who's been a bit lost in all this until now should find themselves suitably caught up by the article's end.

I'll quote this part, just to prove I myself read it (or whatever), but do yourself a favor and skip my excerpt and just read the whole thing. Good article to email to a newcomer to all of this, too.

Some critics believe that the unit’s findings need to be treated with more caution, because all the published data have been “corrected” — meaning they have been altered to compensate for possible anomalies in the way they were taken. Such changes are normal; what’s controversial is how they are done. This is compounded by the unwillingness of the unit to release the original raw data.

David Holland, an engineer from Northampton, is one of a number of sceptics who believe the unit has got this process wrong. When he submitted a request for the figures under freedom of information laws he was refused because it was “not in the public interest”.

Others who made similar requests were turned down because they were not academics, among them McIntyre, a Canadian who runs the Climate Audit website.

A genuine academic, Ross McKitrick, professor of economics at the University of Guelph in Canada, also tried. He said: “I was rejected for an entirely different reason. The [unit] told me they had obtained the data under confidentiality agreements and so could not supply them. This was odd because they had already supplied some of them to other academics, but only those who support the idea of climate change.”

IT was against this background that the emails were leaked last week, reinforcing suspicions that scientific objectivity has been sacrificed. There is unease even among researchers who strongly support the idea that humans are changing the climate. Roger Pielke, professor of environmental studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, said: “Over the last decade there has been a very political battle between the climate sceptics and activist scientists.

“It seems to me that the scientists have lost touch with what they were up to. They saw themselves as in a battle with the sceptics rather than advancing scientific knowledge.”

Professor Mike Hulme, a fellow researcher of Jones at the University of East Anglia and author of Why We Disagree About Climate Change, said: “The attitudes revealed in the emails do not look good. The tribalism that some of the leaked emails display is something more usually associated with social organisation within primitive cultures; it is not attractive when we find it at work inside science.”

There could, however, be another reason why the unit rejected requests to see its data.

This weekend it emerged that the unit has thrown away much of the data. Tucked away on its website is this statement: “Data storage availability in the 1980s meant that we were not able to keep the multiple sources for some sites ... We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (ie, quality controlled and homogenised) data.”

If true, it is extraordinary. It means that the data on which a large part of the world’s understanding of climate change is based can never be revisited or checked. Pielke said: “Can this be serious? It is now impossible to create a new temperature index from scratch. [The unit] is basically saying, ‘Trust us’.”

Since I'm doing another post, I'll just say that speculation that James Hansen is behind this leak seems daft. Maybe he does want Copenhagen to fail; but what he definitely doesn't want is the Cult of the Virgin Gaia to fail, and that's what this leak accomplishes. (Or forwards, at least.)

And as interesting as it is, timing-wise, Al Gore's cancellation of one appearance at Climate Mecca doesn't mean anything at all.

Damn... This recap is good too.

First, the data games: the data manipulation that has been most seized upon by bloggers involves the choice of which sources of temperature data should be used to reflect climate trends after 1960. Because thermometer-based measurements of the climate are only about 150 years old (and are quite spotty for much of that time), when scientists set out to construct long-term estimates of temperature trends, they use what are called “proxies,” such as tree-ring measurements that ostensibly reveal the temperatures that the tree experienced as it grew. As it happens, the tree-ring proxies match up with the thermometer measurements up until about 1960, when there is a “divergence” between the two sets of data. The tree rings indicate a global cooling after 1960, while the thermometer data indicates a sharp warming.

The CRU scientists decided to simply stop using the inconveniently non-warming tree-ring data after 1960, and splice the modern thermometer-based temperature readings instead, using statistical methods to smooth out and conceal the transition. In one email, this is discussed as a “trick” developed by Michael Mann, one of the creators of the infamous climate “hockey stick chart,” that would “hide the decline” shown by the tree rings and emphasize the recent spike in thermometer data, preserving the sanctity of the hockey stick. One problem with this is, if the tree rings don’t accurately reflect temperatures since 1960, why should we believe they accurately reflected temperatures in the past? If temperatures could diverge now, couldn’t they have equally diverged in the medieval warm period of 1,000 years ago? If so, current temperatures could be historically unremarkable, cutting away one of the key rationales for blaming human greenhouse gas emissions for recent climate changes.

There’s also the well-known problem in the thermometer record of an upward bias due to increasing urbanization around weather stations. Which is right, the trees, or the thermometers? Perhaps neither.

In another data manipulation discussion, one of the CRU researchers discusses changing the (arbitrary) baseline that is used to define “average temperature,” but is discouraged from doing so, as a less arbitrary baseline would reduce the appearance of global warming. About all we can say now is that it’s unclear that the public has been shown accurate reconstructions of historic temperatures, nor been given the context to understand whether recent climate changes are unusual or caused by human activity.

He swings 'round to the peer-review corruption:

Finally, and most troubling, are the suggestions that a tribe of incestuous climate scientists may have actively conspired to undermine the peer-review process, until now considered a determinant of what is worthy of scientific consideration, and what is not.

The scientists at CRU and throughout the climate change establishment, along with people such as former Vice President Al Gore, have slammed skeptics for not publishing in the peer-reviewed literature. What the Climategate documents reveal is that this small group of scientists, who are often called upon to peer review each other’s work as well as skeptical articles, have discussed ways of keeping findings they don’t like out of the peer-reviewed literature, even if it required trying to oust editors, boycotting certain journals, or reclassifying a prestigious journal that publishes skeptical articles as a fringe journal unworthy of consideration. They also discuss their specific intention to exclude contrary findings from the IPCC reports, even if they “have to redefine what the peer-reviewed literature is!” Is it surprising that many skeptics simply choose to forgo efforts to place materials in peer-reviewed journals when one knows that it will likely be blockaded by biased reviewers?

And it’s political incompetence I’m talking about. You come into office in the midst of the biggest financial crisis in decades and facing what you at least are telling the public the threat of a general economic meltdown. So what do you do? Focus on the economy? Create jobs? No, you make the centerpiece of your legislative agenda — one that has occupied the center of the national stage since July or August — a massive overhaul of the healthcare system that will increase taxes and therefore potentially decrease jobs in the long run but in the short run will create massive uncertainty for small businesses who don’t know what a new employee with the new health care would cost them — and thus kill jobs.

Global warming controversy reaches NASA climate data

The fight over climate science is about to cross the Atlantic with a U.S. researcher poised to sue NASA, demanding the release of the same kind of information that landed a leading British center in hot water over charges that it skewed its data.

Christopher C. Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said NASA has refused for two years to provide information under the Freedom of Information Act that would show how the agency has shaped its climate data and explain why the agency has repeatedly had to correct its data dating as far back as the 1930s.

"I assume that what is there is highly damaging," Mr. Horner said. "These guys are quite clearly bound and determined not to reveal their internal discussions about this."

The numbers matter. Under pressure in 2007, NASA recalculated its data and found that 1934, not 1998, was the hottest year in its records for the contiguous 48 states. NASA later changed its data again, and now 1998 and 2006 are tied for the hottest years, with 1934 listed as slightly cooler.

Climate science's PR disaster: ‘Climategate' brings a long-running and bitter battle into the open

Steve McIntyre is a mild-mannered Toronto businessman who dabbles in statistics as a hobby. But to some climate scientists, he's Public Enemy No.1. They mention him often in their e-mails and try to make sure his criticisms of their work aren't published. “They're really showing a siege mentality,” he says.

Mr. McIntyre is a bit player in a scandal that has swept the world of climate science like a mighty hurricane. It features leading scientists who, to the conspiratorially minded, seem to be colluding to manipulate data, withhold information, delete records and stifle dissent. “The worst scientific scandal of our generation,” declared one opinion writer in the Telegraph. Not quite. But the so-called “Climategate” affair – thousands of hacked e-mails made public on the eve of the Copenhagen convention – gives a pile of ammunition to those who believe global warming is a giant boondoggle.

The damaging e-mails were hacked from the servers of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England. Its temperature databases provide much of the case for global warming. Some of them appear pretty damning. One says, “The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.” Another refers to a “trick” that can be used to “hide the decline” in temperature. One from Phil Jones, the centre's director, says, “I will be e-mailing the journal to tell them I'm having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor.”

Even sympathizers concede the e-mails are a PR disaster. “It isn't worth pretending that this isn't a major blow,” wrote well-known British environmentalist George Monbiot, who's making an appearance this evening in Toronto.

“Climategate” brings a long-running and very bitter battle into the open...

and policymakers. The vision was so vast, the fear it inspired so pervasive, that it seized popular imagination, aided ably by hucksters like former Vice President Al Gore and his science-fiction feature film "An Inconvenient Truth." But like any Ponzi scheme, global warming only worked if everyone kept investing and no one looked at the books. Once the truth came out - of manipulated findings, phony data, rigged peer-review processes and intimidation of skeptics - the scheme began to collapse.

Yet even as the edifice comes down, the adherents of the orthodoxy say that there is nothing to see, that this is all a distraction from the business at hand, that there is still no time to lose, full steam (or solar power) ahead. But it is far too late for that. The veil has been pierced, the myth revealed, the scales have fallen from the people's eyes. The pagan priests are fleeing the temple, their sacred idols are being pulled down, their holy works renounced. Their god, finally, is dead.

Political correctness rearing its ugly head AGAIN?

Our good friend Andy McCarthy reveals the shenanigans at Fort Hood continue in the name of what, political correctness, sensitivity? Just weeks after an Islamic terrorist guns down 13 people, 12 soldiers, it’s the US Army that’s getting the lecture on political correctness?

It’s been brought to my attention by several reliable sources that the Defense Department has brought Louay Safi to Fort Hood as an instructor, and that he has been lecturing on Islam to our troops in Fort Hood who are about to deploy to Afghanistan. Safi is a top official of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and served as research director at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

Worse, last evening, Safi was apparently permitted to present a check (evidently on behalf of ISNA) to the families of the victims of last month’s Fort Hood massacre. A military source told the blogger Barbarossa at the Jawa Report: “This is nothing short of blood money. This is criminal and the Ft. Hood base commander should be fired right now.”

SWISS BAN ON MINARETS CREATES GROUNDSWELL

Don Morris writes at Doc's Talk (thanks to Janet Levy): ...As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

United States -- Muslim 1.0%

Australia -- Muslim 1.5%

Canada -- Muslim 1.9%

China -- Muslim 1%-2%

Italy -- Muslim 1.5%

Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%

Germany -- Muslim 3.7%

United Kingdom -- Muslim 2. 7%

Spain -- Muslim 4%

Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. (United States).

France -- Muslim 8%

Philippines -- Muslim 5%

Sweden -- Muslim 5%

Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%

The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%

Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris -- car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam -- Mohammed cartoons).

Guyana -- Muslim 10%

India -- Muslim 13.4%

Israel -- Muslim 16%

Kenya -- Muslim 10%

Russia -- Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%

Chad -- Muslim 53.1%

Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

Albania -- Muslim 70%

Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%

Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%

Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%

Egypt -- Muslim 90%

Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%

Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%

Iran -- Muslim 98%

Iraq -- Muslim 97%

Jordan -- Muslim 92%

Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%

Pakistan -- Muslim 97%

Palestine -- Muslim 99%

Syria -- Muslim 90%

Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%

Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%

United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%

Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%

Somalia -- Muslim 100%

Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%

Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.

Doing the investigative work the dinosaur, Obama-enabling media won’t do, Scott Baker and a collaborative research team have waded through the sexually explicit reading list endorsed by safe schools czar Kevin Jennings and the group he founded — GLSEN.

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit posts the team’s report.

Make sure you have an empty stomach before you read.

A few excerpts to get you started:

Reflections of a Rock Lobster – Pages 13 + 14

(At the age of six, the author played “sex therapist” with a five-year-old friend, and “explored our sexuality to its fullest.”)

One friend I was very close to was Billy Marlen. Billy was a year behind me in school yet we got along well together. In our friendship, a special camaraderie existed that was rare in my other friendships. There was a brotherhood that does not often occur even between brothers. We shared our toys and spent many summer days building sandcastles on the beach. On rainy days I’d walk down to Billy’s house where we spent the day reading books and building racetracks and playing sex therapist in his basement. We were human beings who knew no social inhibitions and were willing to explore our sexuality to its fullest
.

….

Passages of Pride – Page 4

(Beginning at the age of five, a young child has sexual encounters with his playmates.)

Throughout his childhood, from age five on, Derek would sneak off with a friend into someone’s basement or the woods along the back alley, where they would take off their pants and play with each other, usually fondling each other’s genitals. It became habitual.

“At that time, I didn’t quite have a name for it,” says Derek. “It was something that I liked doing, that felt good, that I wanted to do as often as I could. The other kids always recognized it as being something bad and dirty. And all I wanted to know was, When can we do it again?”

In Your Face – Page 150

(The author describes how a sudden and impulsive sexual encounter was the healthiest relationship he’s ever had, then regrets the incestuous relationship he had with his cousin.)

But I know in the immediate future I want a very healthy relationship, because I’ve never really had a healthy relationship. The closest I’ve had was with a guy that I met at the lake when we lived in Davenport. I just met him at the lake, and he already had a boyfriend and stuff. I just walked up to him and said, “Do you want to f**k?” and we did. For a week. And then I went home because I couldn’t handle it anymore. The relationship I had with my cousin was very, very twisted, and I didn’t like hiding it. I mean, he was my cousin, and so it feels rather disgusting. But I think that you’re gonna fall in love with whomever you’re gonna fall in love with.

Would Barack and Michelle Obama approve of their daughters reading this in their classrooms?

And Now Some News That’s Fit To Print – But Wasn’t
By Michelle Malkin
Times Editorial Columnist

A bulging file stashed in my bottom desk drawer bears the label “FIT TO PRINT.” It contains numerous and sundry news items that, for whatever reason, have never been published in the pages of our local newspapers. Until now:

– Citizen watchdog exposes Seattle schools’ link to Internet smut. Picture this: Two bare-chested boys embraced in a kiss. A third person, whose face is not shown but is also bare-chested, stands off to the side with his hand on the head of one boy. Below the vivid color photo, which is posted on the Internet home page of a group called “AltKids,” is a caption explaining that the group provides a service “in which gay and bisexual kids can find partners or friends of the same sexual orientation.” To post messages on the site’s “Alternative Connections” page, users must register not just their name and age, but their height, weight, hair color, eye color, address and phone number.

Until last week, after West Seattle citizen activist Linda Jordan and other concerned parents complained to the school board, this on-line “service” was advertised on the “links” section of the National Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Teachers Network (GLSTN). GLSTN provides support to a chapter in Washington state, many of whose members are employed by the Seattle School District’s Sexual Minority Advisory Council. The Council promoted the national GLSTN office’s web site in literature made available to schoolchildren.

Prior to Jordan’s complaint, Seattle students had unlimited access to the GLSTN site and to the smutty AltKids link. After viewing the photos, the district’s legal counsel, Mark Green, contacted the national GLSTN office, which has removed the AltKids link from its site pending further investigation. Green told me that district computer technicians have blocked the site from public school computers. Kudos to Jordan for making the schools safer. But where were all the district’s guardians? What other exploitative materials are children being exposed to in the name of teaching tolerance and self-respect?

NATURAL GAS IN SHALE: THERE’S LOTS OF IT! “Just a few years ago, the industry didn’t have the technology to unlock these reserves. Meanwhile… A lecture on ‘climate change’ at the University of Texas was postponed today due to a massive snowstorm.
A winter storm watch and freeze warning are in effect Friday as a storm system sweeping into southeast Texas brings a mixture of rain, snow, and sleet to the Houston area.
It is the earliest snow on record.

In related news… The UN may investigate the Climategate scandal.
The AFP reported:

A top UN panel is to probe claims that British scientists sought to suppress data backing climate change sceptics’ views, its head said on Friday ahead of the landmark Copenhagen summit.

Rajendra Pachauri, head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said the claims — which led a top expert to leave his post temporarily this week — were serious and needed to be investigated.

Professor Phil Jones has stood aside as head of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, after emails allegedly calling into question the scientific basis for climate change fears were posted online.

Hackers penetrated the centre’s network and posted online thousands of emails from researchers, including Jones, ahead of the Copenhagen summit which starts Monday.

The CRU at the university in Norwich, eastern England, is a world-leader in the field.

HOW TO ADDRESS GLOBAL WARMING: “How about we do a bunch of easy stuff first with deregulation and money that is already committed, like making it a lot easier to build nuclear power plants and spending that ’stimulus’ money on a massive upgrade of electrical grid instead of repaving 12 miles of highway in each Congressional district?”

No opportunities for graft or power-grabs there, so that’s a nonstarter.

For CRU and Mann to produce a hockey stick, they needed to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP). In part, they achieved this by claiming the warming in Europe was localized, and was balanced out by cooler temperatures in other areas of the planet.

JoNova does an analysis that includes more than a single Yamal tree, and finds the MWP wasn't a local phenomena at all.

It’s clear that the world was warmer during medieval times. Marked on the map are study after study (all peer-reviewed) from all around the world with results of temperatures from the medieval time compared to today. These use ice cores, stalagmites, sediments, and isotopes. They agree with 6,144 boreholes around the world which found that temperatures were about 0.5°C warmer world wide.

"The reality is that our lifestyles are unsustainable." Climate change is a symptom of our unsustainable lifestyle.

Yes, Indeed. I really should cut back on my cross-Atlantic trips between Cricket practice in Delhi and ritzy NY climate seminars. Oh wait. That wasn't me.

Be that as it may, he and the U.N. are finally bowing to pressure and pretending to be concerned about the CRU scandal:

"We will certainly go into the whole lot and then we will take a position on it," he said. "We certainly don't want to brush anything under the carpet."

Welcome, Krakatoa! [ace]: What happened here was 1, Krak was posting like gangbusters in the headlines, and 2, I was getting to the point where I could not keep up with the ClimateGate news, and to the extent I tried, I was turning this into an almost single-issue blog, which I didn't think was a good idea.

Since Krakatoa was doing such an awesome job with ClimateGate, I asked him to post whenever he liked, when he had enough for a recap, or a good story he wanted to post. Which relieves me of having to keep on all of this (and there is so so much), and let's me pick my shots with ClimateGate, and otherwise post on other matters.

Basically I wanted this blog solidly on top of ClimateGate, and I (and the other cobloggers) could not keep completely up on it while also hitting the economy, Afganistan, health care, etc. I thought Krakatoa would make for a good guest blogger here.

Other guys -- like ArthurK. and JackStraw-- have long, long been on top of climate related matters, and I could have asked them to do this too, but at the time I made the request, it was Krakatoa hitting the issue every hour in the headlines.

5 Someone mentioned the article in the American Thinker in another post but this quote needs to be posted.

The U.S. NOAA openly admits to producing a CO2 record which "contains no actual data." NOAA temperature stations sited in ways that artificially inflate temperatures have been exposed over the past two years. CO2 observatories have similar flaws. Two of the five NOAA "baseline" stations are downwind from erupting volcanoes. All five are subject to localized or regional CO2 sources.

CONTAINS NO ACTUAL DATA!!  So not only are they full of sh*t regarding the temperatures, they position the CO2 censors near active volcanoes and and then produce a record with no actual data.

Gotta love those scary smart "scientists"

Wait a minaret!

I've a tendency to cringe a little when people use the term mainstream media to describe the newspapers and broadcasters who seem to speak in one, predictable and liberal voice.

It's seldom quite that simple. But it is rather astounding how often the standard view appears on every continent in virtually every major outlet.

Such is the case with the reporting of the decision in Switzerland to prevent the building of minarets, voted into the constitution by a referendum in which a clear majority of the people supported the ban. It's an intensely democratic measure that took place in arguably the most democratic nation in the world, where human rights are enshrined, rival religious denominations accommodated and four different languages given legal equality.

So to paint the country as some right-wing anomaly is just dumb. This, after all, is the home of the Geneva Convention, neutrality and niceness. The problem for the chattering classes is that when the genuine voices of the genuine people are heard, they frequently contradict progressive establishment opinion.

So the Swiss have now been dismissed as neo-Nazis, Islamophobes and rednecks. What the decision reflects, however, is a fear replicated throughout Europe that triumphalist Islam is intolerant, anachronistic, misogynistic, fundamentalist, anti-Semitic and violent. And the left are supposed to be against aggression, anti-Semitism, misogyny and fundamentalism. Not, it seems, when these vices are wrapped in the cloak of Islam.

Scientists behaving badly – part 2

Glenn Beck with Anthony Watts

Viewers won’t remember but one thing about this interview: that a UAE scientist called a skeptic an “assh*le” on live television. It reveals just how rattled they are there at CRU.

There is a good video on his site here.

Professor Andrew Watson (whose emails are in the Climategate emails) also adds a nice touch when he rolls his eyes, see if you can spot it.

Marc Morano explains:

A professor who is accusing global warming skeptics of engaging in “tabloid-style character assassination” of scientists, called an American climate skeptic “an assh*le” on the December 4, 2009 live broadcast of BBC’s Newsnight program.

“What an assh*le!” declared Professor Watson at the end of the contentious debate with Climate Depot’s executive editor Marc Morano. A clearly agitated Watson had earlier shouted to Morano “will you shut up.”

Video of BBC “Asshole” clip is here.

Full one-on-one BBC debate segment between Prof. Watson and Climate Depot’s Morano is here in two parts.

The remark was broadcast live on BBC and prompted an on-air apology to viewers from the BBC later in the program for the offensive language.

Watson (Email: a.watson@uea.ac.uk) is a professor at the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, which was the source of the disclosed files. Watson’s emails appear in the hacked Climategate files.

During the live debate, Morano challenged Professor Watson for being in “denial” over the importance of Climategate and noted that “you have to feel sorry for Professor Watson.”

“[Watson's] colleague, [Professor] Mike Hulme at the University of East Anglia is saying this is authoritarian science, he is suggesting the [UN] IPCC should be disbanded based on what Climategate reveals,” Morano said.

Everyone needs to get on top of this: The Secretary Of State Project: How George Soros And His Communist Cronies Are Stealing Elections .

UTAH TEA PARTY ORGANIZER DAVID KIRKHAM WRITES:

These 4 pictures should strike more fear into the heart of a politician than any rockous town hall meeting, call, letter, or Tea Party. 24 hours ago we put out the word we needed 13 volunteers to be “Legislative Captains,” (one for each of the 13 state legislators we have here in Utah county). The Legislative Captains would work in their respective legislative districts to recruit delegates for the convention. We sent about 50 very targeted invites to people based on their address. We gathered the names from our Tea Party sign up sheets. 20 people showed up. So, with the extra people, we asked what expertise everyone had. We then divided up duties on Facebook, events, marketing, and a new website, www.utah912teaparty.com. On the whiteboard “POP” stands for Precinct Operation Program. Just say NO to RINOS.

Polling News So Good Even Allah Is Giddy: Top Eight Most Vulnerable Senators? All Democrats
Kos' Own Poll: "Nothing Short of Cataclysmic"

—Ace

And then lots of stuff about Democrats' denialism about "teabaggers." Because, see, the fact that the tea partiers are mostly on our side, and are energized and outraged and ready to crawl over broken glass to vote against Obama and his Democratic claque, is really a problem for us, because, see, all that enthusiasm on our side will scare America into voting against us.

The Democrats' Nutroots Wranger Markos Moutsopholes (whatever his name is, Kos) vigorously agrees with this analysis.

Oh wait, no he doesn't. In fact, he's warning of impending Democratic doom.

Democrats had known there was an “intensity gap” between angry conservatives in the Republican Party and the unexcited Democratic base, and in a midterm election, base turnout often determines who wins the night. Yet no one suspected it was this bad.

Nonpartisan pollster Research 2000 conducts a large-scale weekly poll for Daily Kos measuring voter sentiment toward key Republican and Democratic leaders and the parties (2,400 respondents, for a margin of error of 2 percent). Last week’s edition featured the typical generic congressional ballot test, and Democrats held a 37-32 advantage, not atypical compared to most other polling on that question. In its most recent polls, CNN had Democrats up 49-43, while Pew was at 47-42. And while Gallup bucked the trend, with Republicans up 48-44, those exact generic congressional numbers aren’t as important for the 2010 midterms as precisely who will turn out. And right now, it’s looking brutal for the Democrats.

For the first time, I had Research 2000 ask, “In the 2010 congressional elections, will you definitely vote, probably vote, not likely vote or definitely will not vote?” The results were nothing short of cataclysmic:

Among Republican respondents, 81 percent said they were definitely or probably going to vote, versus only 14 percent who were definitely or not likely to do so. Among independent voters, it was 65-23. Among Democrats? A woeful 56-40: Two out of every five Democrats are currently unlikely to vote.

He then starts doing the stuff that I'd do too, were I him: It's not too late to turn it around, hey, anything can happen in a year, etc.

But... well.

Two in five Democrats say they're sitting next cycle out.

And some fraction of those voting are voting Republican.

"Teabaggers" are just killing this party. Damn them and their intensity and infectious enthusiasm! We don't need calls to arms right now; what we need is what the Democrats have: full-tub-of-Haagen-Dasz depression.

58 There are a LOT of Democrats who are appalled at this President and this Congress.

The most frequent comment I hear from retirees, many of whom have never voted for other than a Democrat in their lives, is "He wants to kill us off."

BREAKING: Gateway Pundit blog came under at least two cyber attacks tonight that shut down the First Things website.
This came after the report today on Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar’s child porn books.

Scott Baker from Breitbart-TV.com and Co-Host of ‘The B-Cast‘ submitted a shocking report today on Obama’s deviant Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings.

Scott Baker reported: I was recently approached by a team of independent researchers that I have known for some time and have come to trust. They prepared this report involving ‘Safe Schools Czar’ Kevin Jennings and the organization he founded, GLSEN, and asked that I find a way to help draw attention to what they uncovered. Knowing that Gateway Pundit has followed Kevin Jennings since his appointment, as we have on The B-Cast (here, here, and here), and on Breitbart.tv (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here), I felt this would be an appropriate place for this report.

The explosive report posted today (here and here) outed Obama’s ‘Safe Schools Czar’s sickening promotion of child porn books to school children.

More… Please go read Founding Bloggers post on the Safe Schools Czar.

UPDATE: (Saturday AM) There is another damning report on Kevin Jennings breaking this afternoon.

Really tied up over here and not much time to work until tonight, but wanted to clue you in to two important stories you may have been missing:

First, Gateway Pundit, and all of First Things has come under cyber attack for doing something rather daring – exposing the public school reading material recommended by Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar”, Kevin Jennings. This is VERY EXPLICIT AND UPSETTING MATERIAL so I give you fair warning. If you want to understand what this “safe school czar” (yet another Obama appointee who escapes congressional oversight) is doing -the extent of his fascination with gay sex and children- you will have to read a little of it. But you won’t like it. Jennings needs to answer for this and so does Obama, but since Jennings is a “czar” congress is not likely to make it happen.

Obama should answer for his pesky, adolescent middle finger, too.

Michelle Malkin:
Exposes Kristof at the New York Times as -at the very least- a sloppy journalist, and perhaps an agendized flunky.

Climategate: Ongoing story that is still barely being mentioned in the press. Not for a lack of interesting angles. The press just won’t allow the narrative to be tampered with. Scientific Data affecting the whole world may be tampered with, and fudged, but not the MSM Narratives!

If you’re not reading about Climate-gate, you’re not reading anything about Carb-gate, either.

More Bloggy Goodness: Have you checked out Blogs Lucianne Loves? Great reading for a snowy day!

Finally, got a nice note from Ed Morrissey and his dear First Mate thanking Anchoress readers for their prayers. Marcia could have died from a blood infection, and Ed is still blogging via Hospital.

Hey, thanks again for ordering your Mystic Monk Coffee and Christmas gifts and doing your Amazon shopping via this site. You’re helping me scrape together next semester’s tuition for Buster, and I am most appreciative!

SCIENTISTS BEHAVING BADLY: Steve Hayward on the ClimateGate scandal. “The behavior of the CRU circle has cast a long shadow over the entire climate science community, and many honest scientists will now undeservedly bear the stigma of Climategate unless a full airing of the issues is conducted. Other important climate research centers with close ties to the CRU–including NASA’s Goddard Institute and the Climate Change Science Program at NOAA–should not be exempt from a full-dress investigation. Such a reevaluation must begin with an understanding of the crucial role the CRU circle has played in the global warming drama.” Read the whole thing, which provides a nice summary of the issues so far.

The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose, Pt 13

Jim Prentice - call your office;

The Met Office plans to re-examine 160 years of temperature data after admitting that public confidence in the science on man-made global warming has been shattered by leaked e-mails.

The new analysis of the data will take three years, meaning that the Met Office will not be able to state with absolute confidence the extent of the warming trend until the end of 2012.

The Met Office database is one of three main sources of temperature data analysis on which the UN’s main climate change science body relies for its assessment that global warming is a serious danger to the world. This assessment is the basis for next week’s climate change talks in Copenhagen aimed at cutting CO2 emissions.

Poor Harry.

The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose: Our Friends, The Saudis

The Australian;

SAUDI Arabia has seized on a series of stolen British university emails to become the first country to cast doubt on the consensus about man-made climate change ahead of next week's Copenhagen summit.

[...]

[C]hief Copenhagen negotiator, Mohammad al-Sabban, suggested in an interview with the BBC yesterday that there was now no longer any point in seeking an agreement to reduce emissions.

"It appears from the details . . . that there is no relationship whatsoever between human activities and climate change," he said.

"Climate is changing . . . but for natural and not human-induced reasons. So whatever the international community does to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will have no effect on the climate's natural variability."

His government might be prepared to take "no cost" measures to control emissions but more drastic and painful action would be out of the question until there was "new evidence" about what was causing climate change, he said.

Globe & Mail readers must be wondering what rock their paper was hiding under for the past two weeks.

On a political level, coming on the eve of the Copenhagen summit, the controversy has been catastrophic...

Those stupid bastards gave us a whole two weeks to blanket the internet with the contents and analysis of those files. Now, that it's finally hit the "news", guess what's waiting for those folks just sitting down at their computers for their first search...

Like I said, it's a spin doctor's worst nightmare.

And I'm lovin' it.

As world climate scientists head off to Copenhagen, the Danish Speaker Thor Pedersen warned about global warming junk science.
The Politiken reported:

As the world prepares to converge on Copenhagen for the COP15 Climate Summit, Denmark’s Speaker of Parliament has expressed serious doubts as to the way in which the climate debate has developed.

“The problem is that lots of people go around saying that the climate change we see is a result of human activity. That is a very dangerous claim,” Parliamentary Speaker and former Finance Minister Thor Pedersen (Lib) tells DR.

“Unfortunately I seem to experience that scientists say: ‘We have a theory’ – then that crosses the road to the politicians who say: ‘We know’. Who can be bothered to hear a scientist who says ‘I have a theory’ when politicians go around saying ‘I know’” Thor Pedersen says.

Thor Pedersen adds that the temperature has not risen in the past decade.

“I’m not saying that in the decade that the temperature has fallen or stagnated is enough to evaluate developments. But one should only say what one knows,” the Speaker adds.

“You should say that although we believed in our models, that the temperature would rise from 1998 to 2008, we have to admit that it has not risen. We cannot explain why it has not risen, but we believe we still have a problem. I’m just asking that people say what they actually know,” Pedersen tells DR.

77 Actaully my point was that codepink won't get away with the crap they got away with under GWB. We will get to see Obama's true colors as he deals with dissent from the left. And as much as I loath these broads, that the Obama admin will crack down hard on them is the scariest thing because it bodes ill for all other groups that disagree with the admin for *whatever* reason.

Posted by: baldilocks at December 06, 2009 02:37 AM

Well, in a weird way, it might be a good thing if that happens (CODE PINK gets the fascist treatment from Obama and his thugs). Because then they might actually wake up and realize that Obama is their enemy as well.

Right now, the Left thinks that Obama's thuggery is just grand when it is done against Fox News Channel, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, the GOP and anyone on the Right. Again, they have no problem with totalitarian fascist action, so long as it is done against their enemies. But, if they were to have it done against them, maybe -- just maybe -- then they would wake up to realize that Obama is everything we on the right have said he is... and would finally join us in stopping him.

Then again, these people are mostly just batshat crazy, so I may be giving them too much credit in coming to their senses. They may have none to which to return.

Obama to donors: "thanks for the cash, now bugger off and let me eat my waffle, eh"

—Purple Avenger

The WaPo of course tries to spin this as some sort of ethical stance, reigning in influence, blah, blah, blah.

...Nearly a year into his presidency, that pattern has led some top Democratic donors across the country to grumble that they aren't getting the kind of personal attention from Obama and access to the White House they became used to during the eight years of Bill Clinton's presidency.

"I've had almost no communication with the White House," said Chris Korge, a top supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton from Miami who later collected $5.5 million for Obama, making him one of the president's biggest fundraisers...

Big gloat factor here with these tools/fools being stiff armed by the Messiah. But that's what narcissists do - once your usefulness to them is over, you get stuffed under the bus.

One can be "ethical" and yet stroke the egos of those who helped put you where you are. Its not too hard to hand out invites for White house visits, events, golf games etc, let someone prattle on about what they'd like you to do for them, listen politely, then completely ignore whatever it was they were prattling on about, or fob them off on a lackey who can make sure they get enmeshed in the maze of bureaucracy "taking it through channels".

I wonder if Obama's handlers are just trying to limit proximity to him by those outside the inner circle in an unscripted environment because they fear he could say something inconvenient that would eventually find its way into the press.

100% agree. And these idiots were stupid enough to drink the kool-aid and now are going thru a severe, very severe kool-aid hangover.

TINA BROWN: What Is Obama Talking About?

"I have come to the conclusion that the real reason this gifted communicator has become so bad at communicating is that he doesn’t really believe a word that he is saying."

Plus, Lee Siegel: All Things To All People. “We can win the war, but be home in 18 months. We can have health-care reform, without increasing the deficit. . . . Obama’s language is the temperamental equivalent of Tiger Woods’ libido. Both the president’s rhetoric and the golfer’s id want everything.”

"May God save us from our well-intentioned mistakes."

That delicious irony filled statement coming from ardent Obama supporter and Religious Leftist Jim Wallis:

Two weeks ago, we delivered to the White House an open letter to the president calling on him to lead with a different kind of "surge" -- a surge of strategic and focused international development, diplomacy, and targeted humanitarian assistance (and, yes, the necessary security to support it), rather than again relying on more military escalation. Seventeen thousand people have signed on to that letter. We heard little of that new approach in this announcement of sending more troops to fight terrorism. To undermine, isolate, and roll back the influence, capacity, and power of groups like al Qaeda is a necessary goal, but we still fail to fully comprehend how the presence and consequences of foreign military power serve to strengthen the extremism we seek to weaken.  The plan that the president announced last evening is still the wrong kind of surge, and the emphasis of this policy is still in the wrong place. The history of the troubled country of Afghanistan, the lack of a reliable governance partner, the absolute failure of every other occupation of that nation, and the consistent mistake of leading with military solutions all predict sad outcomes for this old approach. Our nation's growing skepticism about this war is well-founded.

Ultimately, only a whole new approach to Afghanistan will have any chance of success. And many of us will continue to call for that, in the hope that the Obama administration will eventually listen. In the meantime, we will pray for our servicemen and women who will continue to sacrifice for a tragic strategy, for more innocent civilians in Afghanistan who will die from more military escalation, for a president whose deepest instincts we still trust, and for the soul of our own nation. May God save us from our well-intentioned mistakes.

Hey Jim... may God save us from your supposedly well-intentioned mistakes.

Here is the only observation I have about The Tiger Idiocy & The Idiots that pay attention to it... yes, he should have kept his pants on...

No, I don't want to hear about it- we have a wannabe Fascist robbing us blind while the world's Bad, Bad Men lick their chops at our self-imposed destruction ( Hope you like that Change you got yourselves in to, Maroons... ) and I say again-- Tigah the Cheeta is a proxy for Mo'BamBam... so here's my take:

Want a clear test of what separates the Left and Right? [Darleen Click]

Bring up The Death Tax.

On the right are those that support property rights on both moral and practical grounds…

Often referred to as the death tax, the estate tax was established under the guise of ensuring “fairness.” Progressive reformers of the early 20th century thought a tax on lifetime earnings and savings would prevent “gross inequalities of wealth.” Instead, the estate tax destroys capital, the fuel that keeps the economy growing. When capital is difficult to acquire, some people are unable to start businesses, and some of those who already have businesses can’t expand them — resulting in fewer jobs for others.

On the Left are those that support the Death tax because no one “earns” wealth and, really, all property belongs to The People Big Government

And the difference between 45% above estates of $3.5 million and 55% of estates above $1 million? An estimated $234 billion in revenue over the next 10 years. That’s the gift which the Congress is giving to the rich, a gift which could pay for healthcare, or to eliminate the budget deficits of all the states, or any number of things which would benefit tens of millions of people, rather than the tiny number of people who are actually affected by this tax.

Some choice comments from the kosskiddies…

*Tax it at 80% please its time to fix this country.

*I’m sure you work very hard for whatever stuff you have. But you didn’t do anything to deserve your parents stuff, except fall out of the right vagina.

*Just how much money and privilege should be conferred upon you by accident of birth?

*Theoretically I’m not opposed to taxing all inheritance wealth

*Whatever your parents estate is comprised off they acquired those material goods by exploiting a social and economic infrastructure that the society as a whole created. They did not simply take dirt and logs and create 3.5 mil + in assets.

*Somebody must pay– someone has to give up something in order for America to get out of this mess. It has to be the rich. And we in the middle class should force them.

Human beings, not as autonomous individuals with inherent rights, but as herd animals to labor at the pleasure of The State.

Or, leftist emoting as an excuse to indulge in covetedness.

I spent the day yesterday with a heavy Obama loving group. Last time we all were together was last CHristmas season and they were all more excited than 3 year olds on Christmas morning.

I almost felt bad at how disillusioned many of them are now. They are good people who were just dazzled by them.

In the season premiere of Bones the psychic said to Bones about Booth’s feelings for Booth “He knows the reality of you and is dazzled by it”

For Obama fans they only know the unreality of Obama and are dazzled by it.

The Source of American Prosperity

The trouble with the current administration is that they believe their ideas are the solution to our problems; what they fail to realize is that the American people are the solution.

The Government's War on Main Street

Øbama Attacks Small Businesses

I had a good chat about jobs and such with a former student of mine. I proposed a scenario where I was a businessman, and once I had reached a certain level of profit, I could hire someone. So, says I, you come to work for me. Together, we make more money, and we easily reach the profit level that enables us to hire someone else. But then, here comes the gvt, and it taxes us, so that our profit level goes down, and now we can't hire someone else. Now, says I,(really on a roll) Mr. Obama taxes me more, and my profit level goes down even more, guess what I have to do to you?

"Fire me?" The kid was shocked and pale at this point.

Yup. And it gets worse. Since I have to cut back on production, this guy over here (I point to a place in the room, where Acme Widget company is located.) won't be able to sell his stuff, so he cuts back, and someone over here gets fired. And so it goes.

He was a bit shaken at this point, but he understood the truth: taxes are evil, and the gvt., at least right now, is not our friend.
