A welcome dilemma for newly reelected Kerry (being seriously considered for Sec. of State!)
The Boston Globe ^ | November 7, 2008 | Scot Lehigh

JOHN KERRY is in a public relations pickle.

It's bad form to seem hungry for a Cabinet post, particularly if you've just run for reelection professing that there's nothing more in the once-vast realm of your ambition than serving the good and decent people of Massachusetts.

But despite his office's attempt to knock the story down, Kerry is not only eyeing the secretary of state's job, he has emerged as a top contender for Foggy Bottom.

"I think it's serious - and Kerry wants it," says one person close to Barack Obama's campaign. "If you look at the list of possibilities, you've got to see him among the top contenders."

Now, Kerry is easy to make sport of because he tends to wear his ambition on his sleeve. And his collar. And his lapel. And a half-dozen other places about his person.

But let's be clear: He'd be a terrific choice for the job.

He's hardly the only one who's interested, of course. Another top contender would have to be former UN ambassador Richard Holbrooke, who was making the public rounds in Denver during the Democratic convention. Indeed, in one eye-catching moment at a foreign policy forum, Holbrooke dramatically rebuked an apologist who tried to minimize Russia's invasion of Georgia.

Speaking to Holbrooke afterward, I noted that Joe Biden's selection as Obama's ticketmate removed one of the former ambassador's major rivals for secretary of state. To hear Holbrooke's reaction, one might have thought he had no interest in a job he's coveted for years. Nevertheless, the tour d' horizon he authored in a recent edition of Foreign Affairs magazine was viewed by insiders as an audition for the position.

“Do the American people have any idea what they’ve just done?”

Probably not. But, if they do, and they approve of it, then we are due for another revolution.

Dennis Kucinich is in line for Secretary of the Department of Rainbows and Unicorns, which is where liberal fantasies go for implementation.

As far as John Kerry, well, you can't really call it a circus until the clown in striped pants shows up.

One of the scary parts of this is that Barack Obama’s entire circle of contacts seems to be made up of people he has met since he moved to DC. I don’t see any old friends or coworkers on the list to be appointed.

Why not. What else can this imbecilic public do, to turn this last great Capitalism inside out and leave it upside down on it’s face bleeding from the mouth and ears?

With Horse Face as Secretary of State, why not Dennis Kuscinich for Secretary of Defense? We can abolish the Stars and Stripes (Too threatening) and replace it with the White Flag of Surrender. That way, we will not offend any other nationality, loose any more troops and can stay safe by avoiding a fight.

Besides, the World will love us now, with Barack as President.

Kumbya, Peace, Love, Utopia and all that kissy stuff......

Keery will take anything thrown at him.The word around Boston is he is sick and tired of having to mingle with the unwashed every six years to get re-elected and deal with their petty problems.

I wonder if Cynthia McKinney or Louis Farrakhan will be asked to serve in some capacity; I already assume that Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Rashid Khalidi will.

SOS John Kerry takes some time to engage in native activities on his diplomatic mission to the foreign, flyover territory of "West Virginia"...

By any sense of fairness,
John f-ing kerry should be walking around local parks cleaning up dog pooh.
Can’t think of any other work he’d be acceptable at.

He wouldn’t be the worst choice of an Obama administration, but it would give me great pleasure for jfk (lower case) to be stiffed.

Rush was just begging Obama to appoint Kerry.

He said he looked forward to him stepping in it every chance he got.

I think I agree.
Appoint as many big name dems as possible. The fall is going to be VERY hard.

Let them all go down with him.

My thought about Dims is they are like teenagers living in your house. The infrastructure is free and will always be their house to live in.

Ir is a puzzle how they think that we can kiss up to the terrorists and provide free mortgages and free healthcare and yada yada and still things will continue to work.

But they are as ignorant as teenagers. I agree, let them appoint all the big name goofy Dims and let the house start burning down. Then they will have to call in the grownups.
