TV producer Norman Lear has co-signed an e-mail warning fellow liberals that with Democrats in control of Congress and the White House, the Republican Party will take a hard turn to the extreme right. Lear, co-founder of People For the American Way, and the organizations president, Kathryn Kolbert, wrote: With the right in its new role as the opposition, get ready to see an invigorated right-wing grassroots, media and organizational infrastructure. Kolbert and Lear whose TV shows included All in the Family and The Jeffersons asserted that the The Heritage Foundation is already digging in its heels saying they will not let President-elect Obama bring about the change he's promised. The e-mail predicts: Right-wing blogs, talk radio and television outlets like Fox News will experience a boom, and new personalities will emerge. Considering the popularity of Sarah Palin, who appealed to the far-right base, many will make the case that the best political strategy is a hard-line and unabashed commitment to right-wing ideology. Following the passage of anti-gay ballot initiatives in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida and California, the emboldened religious right will seek to repeat these tactics in state after state. The e-mail continues: The right is already planning the revitalization of the conservative movement. They will have the energy. They will have the funding. And with the will to obstruct at every turn the change that we've worked so hard to achieve, the right is making our case that People For the American Way is more necessary than ever
The Clinton administration was subject to unrelenting attacks from the right as Obama's surely will be but too many progressives thought they could stop fighting once the election was over. Without a strong progressive movement keeping the wind at the Obama administration's back...

How DARE someone disagree with them?
Why is everything on the right extreme right? Don’t answer that. I know the answer, but you’re right, we will emerge stronger and more conservative.
Doesn’t Norman Lear need to be busy ripping off British comedy shows or something instead of penning letters spewing ignorance?
Seriously, these Hollywierd types have become delusional in how important they think they are.

He’s right. Conservatives are going to be back, and much stronger than ever. In spite of a bitter loss, I’m actually EXCITED right now about the road ahead. I’m reinvigorated.
Norman, you don’t have time for this! Your garage only holds 50 cars! You need to get to work expanding that POS. Oh, and buy some more cars while your at it.
i’m tired of the left’s names.
their “far right” is simply traditional american values.
Yes we will Norman! LOL, they’re running scared already.
Probably should. It's been a while since he had a hit, hasn't it?

“These Hollywood types have become delusional in how important they think they are.”
You bet cha!
Lear’s opinion is total projection. Conservatives will respond (hopefully) with solid conservative values and stick-to-it-tiveness. That defeats la la land politics most every time.
Lear is a way out leftie so he thinks the Right will respond with way out Rightism; he was a lousy writer and he’s a lousy political thinker.
“Considering the popularity of Sarah Palin, who appealed to the far-right base...”
Is a Christian mother with five children who likes to hunt considered far right now? What the heck is wrong with these people?????
I’m tired of their names too, but they are increasingly meaningless. It’s like being called a ‘racist.’ It doesn’t mean anything anymore. It used to be very offensive, now the call you a racist about EVERYTHING! When Lewis Diuguid wrote that article about socialism being a code word for ‘black,’ I laughed myself silly. Who cares what they say anymore?
Tighten the belt. Do not, repeat, NOT, give him the economy that we gave the Clintons.

So long as we’re not “lazy opposition party”, like we were before, The Liberals / Dem party have much to fear.
I’ll do my part, Just need to back the right local Community Org...
Um. Community Activ... no that’s not good either.
What’s a good name for for a local leader that supports the constitution?
More than 2 words might be pushing it, maybe “Local Constituent rep”? Any thoughts?
I’ll give him credit; All in the Family was great. (though my husband insists that Meathead, not Archie was the hero of the show...*LOL*) “Would it make ya feel any better little girl if they was pushed outta windows?” *L* I love that line.
