Say what you will about President George W. Bush, but I don't recall him ever mocking an elderly widow in his pronouncements. But Barack Obama couldn't get through his first press conference as president-elect without doing just that.
Answering a question from Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times as to the presidents he has consulted during the transition, Obama took a gratuitous jab at Nancy Reagan.
BARACK OBAMA: In terms of speaking to former presidents, I've spoken to all of them that are living, obviously President Clinton--I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances.

Thanks, Ancesthntr. By your handle, Im guessing youre a genealogistone who obviously knows his/her stuff! Strictly amateur and for my self, but yes. I always look for confirmation - and I had found her age in order to post a response somewhere else. Glad to be of help - we're all going to need to stick together for a while.

It was Hillary Clinton who conjured up Eleanor Roosevelt in the White House.

Wasn’t it Hillary who said she had “talked” to Eleanor Roosevelt? Somebody help us remember.

Obama is obviously not a man of good humor. But when he does attempt humor it is almost exclusively focused on mocking others. Unlike Bush, Obama rarely pokes fun at himself.EXACTLY. Did you notice at that Alfred Smith dinner a few weeks ago every joke Obama made was at someone elses expense. At least our idiot candidate had a better sense of humor.

Class all the way, that Obama. I’ve actually edited the NB article to mention Mrs. Reagan having recently been released from the hospital for the break.
To: A_Former_Democrat
Apparently, Nancy Reagan believed in Astrology, which is common in the Eastern World, but Mary Todd Lincoln actually did seances. It satisfies me, that Obama knows that this is wrong, and that it is not a Christian belief.

Some idiot reporter on NBC just said it was light hearted humor. Woner if someone said something light hearted about his grammmy if this would have been excused.

Thanks. Obama off the teleprompter is another Joe Biden, i.e., a human gaffe machine. He will provide you with plenty of fodder over the next four years. Cheers.
