Billy Graham Won't Advise Obama Because of His Strong Pro-Abortion Position

by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor November 7, 2008

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Respected Christian preacher Billy Graham has been an advisor and spiritual helper to presidents dating back to President Eisenhower.

But that relationship with presidents will now come to an end because incoming president Barack Obama takes such a profoundly pro-abortion position.

To be sure, Graham's health is playing a part in the decision his son Franklin Graham told the Associated Press.

"My father feels like his time and day for that is over," Franklin Graham said. "But he would certainly like to meet (Obama) and pray with him."

But Franklin expressed concerns about Obama's abortion position -- something he mentioned to the senator during the campaign as a stumbling block -- and indicated that as the main reason.

He told AP the Bible is clear in its teaching that human life deserves respect and protection even before birth.

"President-elect Obama has heard our position," Franklin Graham told the news service. "And I told him that this was very difficult for us and hard for us. It's a moral issue that we just can't back down on."

"But he's our president-elect, and those positions that he holds that are contrary to Biblical teaching, I hope that God will change his heart," Graham added.

Obama's position in favor of unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason was a key issue for pro-life voters during the campaign.

Obama also came under fire for supporting the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, a Congressional bill that would make unlimited abortions under Roe v. Wade the national law and overturn the abortion reduction laws of all 50 states.

The senator also drew condemnation for his votes in the Illinois state legislature against a bill that would have made sure newborns who survive failed abortions receive appropriate medical care.

The news just reported that Obama also intends to lift Bush’s order limiting stem cell research ASAP.

Now we know, Obama got blood money. May the wrath of God and the blood of the slaughtered innocents come down on every last one of them.

These people take God for a fool at their peril.

Those who refuse to vote, or deliberately vote for a Third Party Loser, are exactly choosing “cowardly flight.”

I abhor their acts of cowardice.

And now this:

Anyone who would agree to serve on Obama’s cabinet would not be a genuine evangelical/born-again (or Catholic or Mormon or Orthodox or Missouri Synod Lutheran or Orthodox Jew, etc.)

I disagree. As long as they don’t compromise their principles, they should use whatever influence they have to make things better. You can arue that Esther and Daniel didn’t have that much of a choice, but God put them there for “such a time as this”.

“As long as they don’t compromise their principles...” Accepting a position in Obama’s cabinet would be compromising their principles...if they are indeed orthodox Christians or Jews. Any ostensibly pro-life person who joins Obama’s cabinet is a fraud and a quisling. There is biblical precedent for shunning, and true conservatives should shun so-called pro-lifers who work for Obama.

To “[provide] influence” by serving on Obama’s cabinet would require first pledging your loyalty to a man who has promised to advance Planned Parenthood’s goals. Any ostensibly pro-life person who accepted a job working for Obama would be pledging loyalty to a man who is either an avowed abettor to murder or a liar (meaning Obama was lying when he said he’d work for Planned Parenthood’s goals). Any “Christian” who accepts a position on Obama’s cabinet, while still claiming to be pro-life, is giving scandal and should be shunned.

If it is understood up front that you are there to give a biblical perspective, then I don’t see it as compromising your princicples. If you have that option then you take it. If not, then don’t.

Nonsense. If Hitler had admitted publicly his intention was to murder millions of people, anyone who agreed to be one of his top aides but said, “I just want to give a biblical perspective” on genocide, would be viewed as a joke or evil by history. Am I comparing Obama to Hilter? No, but I am comparing Planned Parenthood to the Nazis. I am drawing a line in the sand where pure evil is concerned. Anyone who claims to be an evangelist or born-again who accepts a post on Obama’s cabinet is on the other side of that line.

Zero will have blood on his hands. As President, he will set the tone and push the legislation that will sign the death warrants for millions more unborn children.

It will be a chilling legacy, one hitler would be proud of.

Why should it shake your faith? God’s own Word foretells that things will get worse and worse before He returns, and it’s going exactly as foretold. His Word also foretells that God and His goodness win in the end. If anything, my faith would be strengthened. The early Christian martyrs sang before their executions. You think we have it bad (right now, at any rate)? Think of the faithful in China who persevere under real persecution.

In all candor, I believe even Hitler would be shocked at the slaughter of the unborn that is routine to our country today and will expand to nightmarish levels under Obama.

All due respect, what do you think infanticide is?

It's the killing of babies....you're just parsing words when you say Bill & Hillary didn't support infanticide.

Babies killed in the womb or out ....are still dead babies.

Don't doubt.
BELIEVE....God is sovereign.
He doesn't make mistakes.

Joseph was sold into bondage, yet his faith held....and he became a prince.

..Daniel was part of the exile, carried off against his will to Babylon....How daunting, depressing that must have been...

..Yet his faith held!

During the Holocaust, a 40ish spinster & her Dutch Christian family hid Jews and ended up in a concentration camp....family members died, but she was freed eventually...

..lived to be in her 90's and a testament to Christ all of her days...Her faith held in the deepest pit of Ravenbruck.

All through history God sometimes allows Christians to suffer for their faith & we remember their lives and their testimonies.

The Apostle Paul sang praises & hymns even when imprisoned.

I don't know if our faith will be extremely tested in the next 4 years, or the next 4 days..

..I just know we need to be ready...to be right with God...

We live in interesting times...

But don't be afraid of tomorrow....God is already there.

To us there is no difference.
To the pro deathers there is a difference.

So - if you step into the strange mindset of a liberal, supporting the death of an already born, breathing infant - is more extreme than killing a pre-born baby.

I personally do not think there is one whit of a difference.
