Teacher Controversy
A former Asheville teacher causes a stir on the internet when bloggers say she berates a young student for supporting John McCain. Diantha Harris used to teach at Jones Elementary, and now works for a school in Cumberland County.
A video clip making its way around the internet shows Harris asking students why they support certain candidates, and then singling out a young McCain supporter. She tells the girl, whose father is in the military, that McCain would keep her father in the service for another 100 years.
Harris tells News 13 the clip is heavily edited, and that in the original footage she did not single out any one student for supporting a candidate. She also says the film crew taping the class asked her to to start a discussion about the presidential election with her class.
Harris is labeled on blogs as an Asheville teacher, but she has not worked for Asheville schools since 2004.
Once folks in that liberal loony bin of Asheville hear of this they will offer her double pay to come back from her new district.
This is on the Asheville Citizen Times website as well but I can’t post it because the times is copyrighted or some such nonsense.
Another good reason to put your child in a private school. At least you know what you’re getting. Public schools in the big cities are brain washing your kids.
If you send your kids to government schools, this is the treament they’ll receive.
LOL! Right!
Her school board is going to ‘investigate’ this and post the results on their website later today:

I can’t wait to see the results of this ‘investigation’.
typical, my sons ( in high school ) are consistently feed leftist crap in school
Oh yeah, the old taken out of context excuse.
Has she received a raise yet? The girl’s family should sue for emotional abuse.
Get your kid out of the government indoctrination insane asylums as soon as you possibly can.
If we don’t take back our schools our Republic is lost!
she has not worked for Asheville schools since 2004.
Glenn Beck just went over this, including some audio clips
Hi, C!
You can put a link in a post, though..
-_-
>>McCain would keep her father in the service for another 100 years.
Gee, Teach, does that mean he can retire when he’s 135? :)
Who’s Glenn Beck?
I wish the girl and her parents (or mother, if her father is still in Iraq) would come forward. She held up really well and would be great to have on some TV talk shows, explaining what it really felt like to be harassed by her teacher in front of the class like that. It would also be nice to hear from some of the other kids in the class, who were saying they supported Obama. They seemed hesitant and confused in their support (very reasonably, since kids that age shouldn’t be expected to explain why so-and-so is the best candidate for President), but I suspect some of them were plenty uncomfortable about how their classmate was being treated, and would be happy to say so. Some of them may also have father or mothers in Iraq.
God bless the child and her parents. I’m just sick that any child would have to go through that kind of public humiliation but her dad is over there FIGHTING SO THAT HIDEOUS WOMAN can have her free speech!!!
