FReepers - let's get a list of congressional leaders in both houses who are RINO's only - those who pretend to be conservative...
We need to know who they are - so we can find conservative challengers to boot them out in the primaries...
Let's get a grassroots operation going to educate the public on what conservatism is - visit the Reagan Library, visit heritage.org, etc. I totally agree with Rush's comments over the last two days - conservativism is not dead - people will follow conservatism if they see it in action and not in name only.
#1) John McCain
Richard Lugar
Chuck Hagel
Arlen Specter.
George Voinovich - Ohio
You can start with what’s left of the Gang of 14: Collins, Graham, McCain, and Snow. DeWine, Chaffee, and Warner are already gone.
Any Bush, Mel Martinez, Tom Ridge, Romney, Huckabe
All the candidates that ran for the GOP presidential nomination except for Ron Paul and that’s because he’s from another planet.
Lindsey Graham (SC)
ping
Mel Martinez(R-FL)...using valuable oxygen that a rat could be using. He just wishes he could fill an empty suit.
It needs to be said. Duncan Hunter isn't a RINO.
Gordon Smith the now ex-senator
Duncan Hunter is a pork barrel spending Washington insider like the rest of them.
JMHO
If “Republican Philosophy and Principles” can be defined by the beliefs and actions of the majority of the people we view as ‘leaders’ in the party —
*WE* - the holders and practitioners of Conservative Values - have become the RINOs......
President Bush, to some extent.
MCCAIN, Collins, Snowe, Specter, Graham... and more who will soon come out and genuflect before The Messiah.
Activist conservatives make up only 20-30% of the population.
What's worse is that they're divided among themselves as to priorities and presentation.
Some conservative themes and goals are popular, or can be made so. Of these, small, non-intrusive, "leave-me-alone" government is probably the best. Gay "marriage", a hill to die on for the Left, even lost California, for heaven's sake.
However, some things that excite great passion among many conservative activists, things that "bring them out", are decidedly not popular. Many so-called "social issues" lead this particular list.
Reagan's great gift was the ability to select a panel of issues on which most Americans could agree. Modern conservative activists either 1) Think, falsely, that most Americans agree with them on issues which they don't, or, 2) Care so passionately about their particular issues that they don't CARE that 70% of Americans disagree with them.
We have a lot of work to do.
