Liberal Attack Dogs: Rep. Rahm Emanuel and Sen. Charles Schumer
July 6, 2006 The Los Angeles Times July 5, 2006 edition featured an article about the tactics used by two powerful Democrats to attack the Bush Administration to regain control of the House or Senate in November.
The article describes the behind the scenes work of Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), head of the House Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
According to the Times, both men have deployed tactics reminiscent of the smoke-filled room of yore. They have hand-picked candidates, crafted campaign themes, set fundraising goals and micromanaged staff hiring decisions for candidates around the country.
The Times notes of Emanuel, Emanuels reputation for political ruthlessness earned him the nickname Rahmbo, an image reinforced by a legendary episode when he sent a dead fish to a pollster who displeased him. Emanuel has also worked for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and served as a senior aide to President Bill Clinton.
Senator Schumer is described as a dogged fundraiser and overbearing in how he operates. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Schumer has been a relentless critic of President Bushs judicial nominees.

What kind of human being sends a rotting, dead fish to a political adversary?
I know, I know; idiomatic use of the feminine ending on a masculine name. Y'all who are indignant can complain to the Italian language police.
Monk get in here
I’d love to see Todd Palin and Ballerina Boy in a steel cage death match!
I can't wait for the day when(Up)Chuck Shummer is caught having paid $1000 an hour hookers with US Government cash.
And Brazi not Brasi
Not to play into his hands ... Chicago-style politicians want to be feared.
Thanks, I do appreciate the correction.
Such upstanding character, that Rahm. Chairman Obama’s gonna surround himself with third-rate gangsters.
Rahm “Luca Brazi” Emanuel.
Much better, thanks.
No, Brasi is correct. "Brazi" would be pronounced BRAHT-zee. The name was BRAH-zee.
The better way is to retain the original title of the article, so that other posters can do a search for it and avoid duplication. There’s plenty of room for added cleverness in the thread.
The man is determined. He’s their pit-bull.
Is Rahm a homo?
Fair enough. I’ve only been here a couple of weeks, so bear with me.
No idea. I know h’s a former ballet dancer (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Ironic, eh?
I firmly believed that it was Rahm Emanuel, not Dr. Andy Sarris who wrote “The Chicago Gangster Theory of Life (Or Nature’s Debt to Society)”
Luca Brasi. They got the last name right.
Chuck and Rahm: La Kosher Nostra!
