McClintock lead up to about 640 in CD-04
By Ben van der Meer, PolitickerCA.com Senior Reporter
As provisional and vote-by-mail ballots are counted, state Sen. Tom McClintock's (R-Thousand Oaks) lead in the 4th Congressional District widened slightly Thursday morning, up to about 640 votes ahead of Democrat Charlie Brown.
Still unclear was how many ballots remain to be counted; Brown said in a statement Wednesday that he believed as many at 40,000 ballots were still to be processed. Neither campaign has formally conceded or claimed victory as of yet.
An official in the California Secretary of State's communications office said state officials hope to receive a report later today from counties in the 4th and elsewhere on how many ballots they still have to count.
The official noted that provisional ballots take longer to count because voting officials must first verify that the person who cast the ballot is eligible and registered to vote and hasn't already done so in that election.
Once that's done, the ballot is formally processed.
Ping!
Goode in Va.’s 5th District is also hanging on for dear life...
I hope that McClintock acts like Lucy and pulls the football away from Charlie Brown at the last second!
I’m calling it for McClintock! (The Libs do it early all the time for their candidates.)
PTL!
As a former Placer County resident, now in Colorado; it’s good to see that both McClintok and Lundgren (Sacramento/El Dorado County) are going to Washington. I’ve met and supported both. At least some sanity inside the beltway.
C2K
We still have 40000 votes to be counted here in Kern Country.
That’s good news. I’d love to see Tom go to DC. Crossing fingers here!
So Brown plans to manufacture 40,000 fraudulent votes?
How democratic of him!
BTTT
Its Tom that has the ball this time; need to break Charlie's legs.
He is ahead again? I would have thought that the absentee ballots would trend R, especially in that district.
After two loses at State Controller, one at Governor and one at Lt. Governor, if he loses this time can we PLEASE stop hearing about McClintock?
Lets leave the thuggery to the left.
No.
If he wins can we stop hearing from you?
Seriously... you have to lose the hate. It's no way to go through life.
He's a carpetbagger but still garners this level of support. If he was better known there, long time resident etc, then he would probably have won this walking away.
Once he's been there through a term or two there won't be any real challengers.
If Nevada County hadn't gone so blue, it would all be over by now. What a serious shock!!!
This has NEVER happened before!!!
It's almost like somebody stuffed the ballot box in Nevada County!!!
What do you know about this GVnana???
