Let me clarify.... Barack Obama wants to raise the capital gains tax from 15% to 28%; Nancy Pelosi wants to raise it from 15% to 25%. So she is actually advocating a 3% nominal reduction in the tax rate that Obama wants - that's a tax cut!

Remember, we don't use the current tax rates as the baseline, only what the highest potential tax rate could be!

No, you just gotta understand Demo-speak. She means that the tax cut for those that don't pay taxes would be permanent, i.e., they are going to receive payback checks in perpetuity--which, of course, means that our Bush taxcut is "cut" out of the new tax code and a higher rate is inserted into the hole left by the cut.

Its a shell game. I think Clinton started this -- you can pretend to cut taxes while you raise the threshold for deducting exemptions. Voila -- no net change, or worse yet, "change you can count on."
