Stocks plunge as investors ponder Obama presidency A case of post-election nerves has sent stocks plunging as investors, again anxious about a recession, are wondering what impact a Barack Obama presidency will have on business and the overall economy. Volatility has returned on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones industrials falling 486 points to the 9,139 level, and all the major indexes tumbling more than 5 percent.

"Scary thing is that the market mess will make it easier and more plalatable, politically, for Obama to move the US more and more socialist"

Not really. The problem with enacting more social policy during a recession is that it tends to discourage new growth, and drives existing businesses closer to bankruptcy.

And once full blown depression hits, Obama is toast. The nation is already broke. he'd have to borrow like a turd world country from the international monitary fund, which is saying it is near broke as well, and was hoping for a few trillion more from the USA.

Obama is screwed. He just doesn't know it yet.

It's too bad the nation has to go through this, but it just might save it from becoming the marxist crap hole it could had business and industry been in better shape and able to withstand gradual marxist policy changes.

Nobody is going to have any wealth to redistribute if this continues. The irony.

Is the OPRAH going to give up her billions in support of her black brother the Socialist Messiah? Perhaps the moron Madonna will give up her millions as well. I’m sure all the Hollyweird Liberals are anxious to give up their incomes for the good of Big Brother. The Messiah, Pelosi, and Reid’s change is going to be a shock for many who have never studied Hitler, Castro, or any of the other “change” dictators. Welcome to Hell morons!

"I despise The Zero and his soon to be revealed elitist partners in crime, but I am thoroughly pissed off at my “fellow” Americans."

As am I, but soon they will be ripe for you to preach "hope" and show them the path out of the pit they cast themselves in. Nothing snaps a brainwashed socialist out of their dream world faster than actually living in it.

There's not much "wonder" about it. He's promised to bankrupt the coal industry. He's promised to increase taxes on business. He's promised to increase government spending.

Many of the denizens of Wall St. voted for the Socialist and are now having buyer’s remorse. They’ll be spiriting their funds out of the country any way they can by next week. And the rest of us are stuck with BO for four years as he taxes us to death. If there were real justice, every one of these parasites would be selling apples on the streets of NYC this Christmas.

Hey Oprah, your brothers and sisters here in the US need you; not Africa. Why don’t you be generous and support them; so the rest of us can support our own families?

I think Oprah should create a “Help me” fund for her brothers and sisters.

Well that Bailout was a great idea. Lets have another and another, after all its what the EXPERTS said was needed. LOL!

Toyota , vying with General Motors for the title of the world's top automaker, cut its annual profit forecast by more than half after a terrible year so far.

It now expects a 68 percent plunge in net profit to 550 billion yen (5.6 billion dollars) — the first drop in nine years.”

Humm, yeah that is soooo bad. They've been selling their cars over here and now they are worried we can't buy any more of them....seems like the Ayerabs are saying the same kinda thing too.

China and Japan stocks were down 7 and 6 percent yesterday. We will be down around 4 percent....that is good enough for me.

Providing Obambi doesn't stop frightening the crap out of the world's investors, we will come out on top.

yup, you are right, but in the mean time we are going to wind up bailing these dumbasses out again. the home owners since obama, pelosi etc want to continue with “easy loans” AND lets not forget the small business owners (from a earlier thread) that think paying more taxes is good, that peeps will know who gave them some of the “wealth” personally (as in their company name). who knows how many others will need it. obama has not even taken office and the welfare lines are across the globe!!
i wish i got to pick who my tax dollars went to, if i am going to have to pay them! im sick of bailing out stupid people who deserve the situation they are in. how about bailing us out-hard working family's whose retirement accounts are in the tank?
hell i went to work this morning for a few hours, came home and checked my ira, O.M.G! i got stocks that have lost almost half their value in just the few days since obama was elected.

Wait until thinking people decide to pull their 401(k)’s, gladly paying the taxes and penalty one step ahead of the Democrats stealing it. As the economy continues to tank, I won’t be surprised if they declare a bank holiday and when they re-open our savings will belong to the gov’t.

What gets me is all the well-off, rich and super rich who backed or at least voted for 0. Self-destructive behavior is not limited to the lower classes

Good point. A key element in Obama’s victory was making historic (for a Democrat) inroads among wealthy voters.

>>I guess Rahm “don’t f this up Mr. Prime Minsiter” “F the republicans” Emmanuel, or RFK shut down all the nuclear power plants and coal factories and pig farmers are biger threat than Al Qaeda Kennedy as EPA Chief, or John “Gingus Kahn” Kerry as Sec or State isn’t playing into those “Obama will be a centrist” lambs who voted for him.<<

I have tried and tried, and I cannot for the life of me tease any coherence out of this alleged sentence.

We need a graph, one line with Obamas big dates like taking the lead in the polls and election day, and the other line with the stock market.

What used to called a "Dead Cat Bounce" can now be called "The Obama Bounce".
