He’s correct. These “sensitivity training” things are a sham. They are there for ONE purpose . . . to keep corporations, etc. from getting sued.

The state law, passed in 2004, requires businesses that regularly employ 50 or more people to have supervisors undergo sexual harassment prevention training.

How many people were under Bill Clinton?

He goes in my Hall of Fame.
I've been lucky to avoid 'sensitivity training'.

I will not be told how to think.

How many people were under Bill Clinton?

At least 7 that we know about.

Not including his wife.

They may be a sham, but anyone today needs to do them. My husband is a college professor and has to undergo them, too. There’s all kinds of things we hate to do on a job. But we have to do it. This man needs to mature and do what he’s asked to do.

I wonder how much taxpayer money the State of California, with its $11 Billion budget deficit, spends on this garbage.

My company requires the same training, but it was a CBT (a computer “click-each-page” thirty minute session). The only thing you really learn is to just keep your mouth shut...or get fired. After one of these episodes....the rest are all wasted time.

My greatest amazement is that so few of my colleagues at UCI and at other campuses have not spoken out against this offense.

The professor has really got to get out of his lab more.

“They may be a sham, but anyone today needs to do them. My husband is a college professor and has to undergo them, too.”
.....I know exactly what you’re talking about Twigs....when my wife was a professor she had to go back to campus early every August for the mandatory faculty meetings....the administration would put them thru the P.C. indoctrination to cover their ass....everybody hated it, but you gotta do it....that’s part of being faculty at a state school.
PS...this guy is hoping tenure will shield him....good luck!....I gotta hunch tenure is going to be under attack in due time.

This man needs to mature and do what he’s asked to do.

And sometimes a man needs to take a moral stand and NOT do what he's asked to do.

Food for thought.

That’s true. But pick your battles carefully. Most employers of any size require this today.

I also see another problem with this. Too many professors see tenure to mean that they are a world, a law until themselves in the classroom and on campus. I’ve seen teachers defy their supervisors, department chairs, even college requirements if they don’t get their way. Then they hire lawyers if they’re told they have to do what they’re told. Sorry. That is unreasonable. Usually, the school has a point. If the professor does not want to abide by the rules, fight it through the system or get another job. The rest of us have to do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if this man is a pain in the behind for the rest of the school in other areas as well.
