News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

Wasn’t it something like $10 Million the day after he announced he was picking Sarah?
He had to do the “honorable” thing and keep his word, even though he would have been well within his right to say well, if this guy isn’t going to do what he said, then I have no choice but to do the same thing.
Should have been done three weeks ago.

I really believe that C was picked for the contrast with sean - looks and brains.
Intentional - it’s the only thing on a website that can’t be fully automated and Lord knows, they wouldn’t want to earn their huge checks, courtesy of our contributions.

Liberals pushed the line that Obama was running against Bush, but I didn't think anyone here bought into that.
McCain isn't a Conservative and muzzled the conservative voice coming from his VP choice.
And never did anything to bring the Conservatives on board except select Palin, then didn't use her ideas and still wouldn't move over to the Conservative side.
The GOP can't win competing with the left by imitating them.

I had the same problems.
Couldn’t get anybody to give me a walking list.
Didn’t have yard signs and didn’t know when they’d get them.
No placards for the rally.
Rally was unprofessional... bad mic, disorganized, no plants to help lead the crowds in cheering (I tried but one voice yelling “USA” or “Sarah” or “Joe the Plumber” or “John McCain” at the appropriate time doesn’t cut it. Only 3 John McCain/Sarah Palin placards at entire Bristol rally, one can be seen in video. Signs were predominantly homemade. A few industrious supporters made signs from JM yard signs since they didn’t have the standard placards. When compared to Obama’s well-organized rallies, it was embarrassing.
When I tried to volunteer (at Bristol RNC), phone answered by some guy that didn’t understand what I wanted. Finally he gets me his wife that sounded annoyed that I was volunteering. Had to arrange time to meet her because they “just don’t hang around down there.” Was told she didn’t have much to give me and she was correct. 7 labels and a stack of, what appeared to be home done on the computer, handouts. No suggestions of where to walk... just walk if I want to do so. She could not have cared less.
Could be - if ever anyone had a good case against a plastic surgeon, it’s Biden - with clear evidence (gaffes) that they either stuck those hair plugs in too far and/or they injected him with too much botox!
Unfortunately, while Sarah energized the base, the exit polls indicate that she turned off the indies (2/3 found her unqualified).
I am not sure if it is because of who she is and where she comes from or due to the false perception the MSM painted of her after that ill-fated Katie Couric interview.
Either way, it was the McCain staffers' fault due to the way they mishandled her rollout. Now they are pointing fingers back at her to deflect criticism of their own incompetence. It is truly disgusting.
Our local RNC office simply could not get signs, bumper stickers or any thing else from the McCain Campaign and they tried.

If we do nothing else, we should make a concerted effort to try to change how our primaries are run.

You know Obama had all those welfare cases living on buses that were driven from rally to rally. Palin was in Pensacola, but there was no information out on that -
How do we get rid of the entire RNC and all their state parties - OR - start a new conservative party?
You sound like a mover - so let me ask a dumb question!!!
How do you all define Conservative??? I think I know about all the smaller government/lower taxes stuff, but the thing that keeps killing us in elections are the social issues - I just care that ‘they’ stay out of my personal business. What say you???

It appears the Republicans did not have a “community organizer” strategy. In many of the close states, this would have helped tremendously to getting out the vote/message. The Dem. party, on the other hand was quite organized.
