Seems her instructor omitted showing her how to apply the double tap correctly. One to the chest and one to the head.
And, in a 9MM, FMJ are useless. the Second part of the double tap with a Black Talon or Ranger Round would have saved the blood trail clean up and stroll down the sidewalk.
Our "house standard" personal defense ammo is all JHP. Mostly .357 Mag or 40 S&W. The .45Autos are 1911 style. Using JHP in a 1911 needs to be done with some prior testing. The feed ramp on the Colt Commander doesn't reach the edge of the chamber. Some JHP will stop hard on the small "lip" between the end of the ramp and mouth of the chamber.
Black Talon is hard to find. Federal HydraShok or Speer GoldDot is fairly commonly available.
