SCAPEGOATING SARAH
NY Post ^ | 11/06/08

The search for someone to blame for John McCain's defeat was well under way yesterday. Many fingers, not surprisingly, were pointed at Sarah Palin.

Actually, the Palin scapegoating began before the polls even opened, with top McCain staffers complaining that the Alaska governor was a "diva" given to straying "off message."

Nonsense.

True, she turned out not to be the magic bullet Republicans had hoped for.

Then again, John McCain turned out not to be the asset Republicans had hoped for. Terming his performance - and that of the campaign itself - lackluster sort of understates the case.

She was the magic bullet. Problem is, you need to have a gun to shoot a bullet but McCain was unarmed.

How can we get the message to Sarah that we support her and want her to represent us in 2012?

Damn — Here McCain wanted her on the ticket; said he was happy with her on the ticket, then sh!ts on her when they lose.

I am up to my neck with McCain. I think basically he’s decent enough, but it may be a blessing in disguise this RINO didn’t get elected, because in 2012 we’d have to defend HIM.

Your #39 is a good shorthand version of the mess.

I left the GOP over the McCain/Huckabee/RNC one-fingered salute that was the primaries, but had no trouble supporting McCain when given the choice of he or B. Hussein. With the addition of Governor Palin to the team, I actually became enthusiastic; naively, I had assumed team McCain was completely on board with the whole ticket. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me the 24th time, shame on me.

(My Herb Tarlek moment for today.)

The Republicans have a lot of self-propelled anal sphincters floating around at the top of the tank, and they have perpetuated failure too often for sentient beings to ignore. As for the RINOs and the "mavericks" (real or faux), I'd suggest that it is past time to stop worrying that if they aren't osculated on the ass, they'll be "outside the tent, pissing in." Shove 'em outside and let them urinate until they are dry, because whether inside or out, about all they seem to be able to hit in any event is another Republican's shoes.

In his attacks on Gov. Palin (he hates women)
shape-shifting Myth Romney makes the betraying leper look good.

"You will embrace this attack on Gov. Palin. Support it, from our lands in
the north. I will gain GOP favor by condemning it and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south. Whichever way
the tide runs, we will rise."

“Correction: the RINOs that infest the Republican Party ensured McCain’s defeat. Without Palin the GOP ticket would have been disemboweled. We Conservatives need to get busy at the grassroots level and make the GOP the party of Reagan once again. The RINO ‘we suck less’ mentality will doom the GOP to wander in the wilderness. Nobody is buying the ‘Democrat Lite’ cr@p anymore. This election should drive the point home.”
I agree. And we start by taking names of all the “drive by” insulting of Sarah Palin. No matter who the culprits are from inside the campaign, they committed an unpardonable sin of aiding and abetting the enemy. People without morals, honor and principles belong in the DemocRAT party. I don't want them representing me. Sarah Palin was the one bright spot in an otherwise dismal election. The Republican Party has seen the last dollar from me until they reform their act. When they start to realize that they are supposed to be working for me, and not the other way around, we'll talk. Till then, I'm a man without a party, and deeply ashamed of the citizens of my country.

I thinks she's gotten the message, but how best to make it happen?

Ted Stevens, newly convicted felon, was just re-elected to US Senate from Alaska. Surely, once sentenced, he will be forced to step down. Can/will Sarah as Governor of Alaska appoint herself to replace him in the Senate??

It would be a great resume builder and give her much greater visibility on the national stage.

Sarah saved us from a filibuster proof senate.

bvw's tea leaves say ...
Obama ran for office and will come to run from office, when the "tests" start.

Palin will be elected in 2012. It might just be a semblance of an Electoral College that year.

Because of the sad events in between, there will be few incumbents.

--bvw, out.

McCain should consider where his name was in relation to McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy to see where the real problem was.

It’s a shame the McCain handlers are such small thinking people, they had to blame someone, new to the team, for their loss. They’ve been campaigning since W won the Whitehouse in 2000. The accomplished little then and did the same thing this time. They played “nice” when obama’s handlers cried racism, they didn’t go after the truth that obama was the one who brought up his 7/16 Negro blood from Kenya and blamed McCain for scaring the populace with it. Well we’ll see what the future brings.

I personally think, had it not been for Sarah, McCain would not have received as many votes as he did. Even his pretty wife couldn’t help him win and she too tried very hard.

True Republicans do not spread untruths or even unfortunate mistakes about other Republicans. I don’t think McCain surrounded himself with true Republicans. They sound more like vicous gossiping old ladies.

Romney's minions also HATE that Gov. Palin has a beautiful family, and the family does not screw their dog.

The problem was not that McCain forfeited the thrust of his argument that Obama was unprepared and unready for office, the problem was that McCain missed the entire thrust of the election. The election was never going to turn on Obama's readiness, he was utterly bulletproof on almost every issue, certainly that one.

The ineptness of the McCain Campaign is all the more apparent since they were forewarned.

Hillary tried the exact same tactic and failed miserably.

I’m blessed in that I’m from a conservative district in VA and we reelected our true conservative congressman (Randy Forbes) handily. My $$ this election went to Randy and the NRA - not the RNCC or any of the national Republican organizations. I understand your frustration but withdrawing from the fray won’t help anyone. The way to change the party and win is to get involved as a CONSERVATIVE at the grass roots level.

They way they discount Gov Palin, those so-called “Jindal trolls” just may be Romney trolls in disguise...

Carl Cameron on O'Reilly last night was drooling all over himself reporting the malicious digs by the recycled Romneybots in the McCain campaign...right out of the Matthews/Olberman school of "journalism".

Bill O’Reilly said that Sarah Palin wanted to appear on her show, but John McCain wouldn’t let her, unless he was sitting right next to her . so McCain could coach her.

That tells me these stories coming from the McCain campaign are true . . they didn’t want her on any of the talk shows.
