You aren’t crazy. If Obama was a Republican he’d be given the Dan Quayle treatment. The King really is naked.

Let’s just say that if NR didn’t accept Buckley’s resignation, my cancellation notice would have been tendered immediately. If Buckley is ever at the point of starving (which doesn’t seem likely looking at his fat face), he’d better not knock on my door. There will be no crusts of bread for him. Just a boot in the rear. Thank God I never bought any of his books.

Adolescent rebellion is spectacularly pathetic when you’re 50 years old.

I guess Christo won't be picking up the mantle of leader of the Conservative movement anytime soon.

Christo writes:...I remember watching him, riveted (I was a speechwriter myself, in the Coolidge administration), thinking, “Wow. Where did this guy come from?”

Wait...can this...could this...be...satire?

I'm beyond subtlety right now.

That’s what I’ve been thinking, too. I honestly don’t think he’s a good speaker, he’s very wooden and has a shrill tone to his voice, his “black” accent is ludicrous, and in addition, whoever writes his speeches produces stuff that doesn’t even make sense. Yet he makes people like Christopher Buckley and Peggy Noonan swoon. I truly don’t understand it.

re: "Vichy Republicans"

Sydney Greenstreet or Claude Rains could play the role in the movie version.

He needs to read Evelyn Waugh again if he can't find anything to satirize about a
Kenyan-Indonesian ex-Muslim Fabian Socialist follower of Saul Alinsky from
Harvard becoming President of the United States.
