WASHINGTON – An emotional Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reveled Wednesday in Barack Obama's election, calling it an "extraordinary step forward" for the nation.
A child of the segregated deep South who became the highest-ranking African-American woman ever in American government and was once considered a potential Republican presidential nominee, Rice called the Democratic president-elect "inspirational" and said his victory was proof of America's promise.

Many of us on this forum recognized her as the closet Arabist that she really is, along with Powell. I am sure there will be a place for them in Obama's administration. Maybe Powell can head up the Civilian Defense Force.
I have long noted GW's harsh stance, dealing with Israel. The first President to Openly Demand a Palestinian State. Recently promised Syria he would force Israel to give up the Golan Heights, for some un-described commitment.
If GW reads the Bible he skips some very important parts.

I know the media tricks. Everyone else here but you is buying the media's interpretation of her emotion. I will wait to watch the video for myself.
I agree. Polling my friends, black and white, it appears my husband and I and my sister and her beau were the only ones who voted for McCain.
I congratulated them and said it was great for the country. I mean that in that a black man was voted President. That is how they view it, so I am seeing it from their eyes.
Yeah, the substance piece is going to come, and when it does, it’s going to hurt liberals and conservatives both. No question.

That's what I don't get. Everyone is carrying on about a black man being elected, when really he is bi-racial. His black relatives/ancestors never suffered through slavery or it's aftermath.

I’m with you. He is bi-racial. His father was African. Not African-American. Obama is the last person I would ever turn to on matters of civil rights.
I understand the emotion. But he is as much white as he is black. (I would not claim him either way). He does not have this country’s racial history running through his veins.
