The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace ~ What must our enemies be thinking? (former Kerry lawyer)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-5-08 | Jeffrey Scott Shapiro

Posted on 11/05/2008 12:02:40 AM PST by STARWISE

Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush.

The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."

Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

You are right. When a man calls another man a liar, he had better deny it vigorously. If he doesn’t, the name sticks. That is life.

Bush deserves it. He did a great job as President and yet sat there like a punching bag for eight years and never had the stones to stand up and defend himself. He is probably as much to blame for the Republican slaughter as anybody.

More like an eternal 4 yrs. Israel has been betrayed and it will be interesting to see how they come after us, but I think our fate is pretty well set and it isn’t good.

And I will treat Barack Hussein Obama with the same respect our enemies have treated President Bush with over the last 8 years..I will NEVER call him President Obama (gag me!) but refer to him as Hussein. It’s a small thing but a slap in the face to all of my family memebers who voted for that piece of crap.

Yes, how could I forget their Gulags? We are the Jews back in Germany! And how bad is it that that is to be taken seriously?!

Bush is awful. We’ve been electorally slaughtered twice in a row because he’s so lousy. The Bots can worship him if they want on the “Day in the life” threads. I won’t do it.

Politics does not cease even during wartime. In addition to some bad choices (the Miers nomination, out of control spending, failure to effectively enforce the immigration laws, lack of a coherent domestic program, and so on), Bush has a passive nature with a dislike of confrontation. These traits may speak well of him as a person but are ill suited for a chief executive.

Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

The attacks are delivered by the Leftist Media of which the WSJ is a member.

Bush, McCain, and the RNC are responsible for what took place tonight. Out of the three last election cycles the RNC got one vote out of me. It wasn’t cast on 11/04/08.

These types of Republicans devised the strategies that saw us come to this point in time.

If folks are stupid enough to canonize them, deify them, and give them a complete pass for what they ushered in, fine, don’t expect me to be a part of it.

I have never voted for a Democrat in my life, and I’m not about to start now. Do you hear that folks? I am not the only one either.

If you’re going to run a Democrat(R), if you’re going to set up shrines to a Democrat(R), if you’re going to deify a Democrat(R), don’t come whining to me when your closet Democrat(R) can’t for some reason or another beat a Democrat(D) that is out of the closet.

I can only say I told you so, so many times. If it doesn’t sink in, then it doesn’t sink in.

I tried to be a team player this year. I tried to keep the moral up over the last several months. I laid off calling a spade a spade. I encouraged folks to vote for McCain. I knew I couldn’t, but I wanted folks to have cover to do it if they felt they needed to.

Governor Palin, I love ya, but you weren’t the top of the ticket. I’ll support you any way I can in 2012, if the Republican party hasn’t destroyed you by then.

Until then I’ll just reflect on what I and others can do to get through to liberals withing our own ranks, who simply do not get it.

Backing a liberal to run or lead our party, is the surest way I know of to make sure the Democrats never have to defeat our goals, for we will have conceded those goals without a shot being fired.

Well, our new chief executive has no problem with confrontations. Look at what happened to Joe the Plumber. His life is ruined.

San Francisco is sewage. If it wasn't for the fact that innocent people would be hurt I'd like to see an earthquake completely destroy San Francisco. A pox on their city.

Please focus you anger on Obama who ordered out the Missouri Truth Squads instead of attacking Bush. More effective energy was needed attacking Pelosie, Reid and Obama than Romney, Giuliani etc. How many wonderful FReepers did we lose earlier this year because of misplaced venom? It would have behooved us to bite our enemies instead of our friends and allies.

"What are they going to do when they can’t blame him anyomre? "

Keep blaming him. I'm serious. They made the election a referendum on him in some respects, and HE WASN'T RUNNING FOR A THIRD TERM. It's worked so far. They'll keep it up.

We now know that the media can manipulate anything they want.

True. The "Dinosaur Media" label is very misleading. Dinosaurs, while they were here, dominated.
