I would love to see such a list compiled then posted on FR. Then all of us, whether or not we own businesses, could play a small part in bringing these companies down.
There are two ways to do this.
We can create a "Consumer Advocacy Group" with periodic report cards on the friendliness of businesses to our side. Then it is up to each person to act individually. I can see this accomplishing one of the goals, which is hurting those who support socialism, but I do not see this accomplishing our other equally important goal, which is to let them know exactly why they are being punished, and who is punishing them.
Example: We all decide we don't want to support Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream (FOR EXAMPLE PURPOSES ONLY), and buy Breyer's instead. Ben and Jerry's sees a drop in profits and Breyer's sees a rise... BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHY.
We also have no way to gauge our success, or if everyone is acting together or not. We may see a dip on B&J's annual report, but we cannot track our progress.
Plan B: We organize, pool our assets, and act en mass. We do this by creating a mutual fund, or a holding company, like Berkshire Hathaway functions for Warren Buffett.
We purchase friendly companies, and we send them a note letting them know who, and why their shares were purchased. When one crosses us, we sell their shares, and we send them a slightly different note.
Those with small market caps who cross us (and may make a profit, which is our ultimate goal) we can purchase enough shares in to gain a seat on the board, or even an outright majority.
Right on, people simply don’t understand the consequences of “taxing the so called rich”.
Please add me to your ping list.
Those of you with the skill sets to make this happen like the guy who knows web design, PM me.
Anyone who would consider participating in some future "Galt Fund", PM me.
I don't know if it's the caffiene or the adrenaline from being so ticked off, but I am going to start putting some of these ideas into work before this motivatitional feeling goes away.
“There is currently $4.5 Trillion dollars invested within 401(k) plans in the United States, the transfer of this wealth to the government would cause the collapse of an entire industry of financial and accounting companies that have been built upon the Retirement Savings Industry. This would be the largest loss of wealth and seizure of private assets in world history. And right now they are talking about how to do it.”
Willie Sutton a bank robber. When asked why he robbed banks, Sutton simply replied, “Because that’s where the money is.”
Would like to be added to the ping list.
Thanks
Exactly, and let me add that Argentina just nationalized their retirement system, and it caused the Argentine MerVal Index to fall from the 1,700 range to around 840, losing more than 50% of it's value. It's come back slightly, to the 1,110 range, but is still a disaster.
An additional idea: the MSM loses money on its news shows, but adding the networks together, they still dominate and thus influence too many people in ways we don’t like. Most of us already don’t watch the MSM news shows, so we can’t withhold our viewership to make a point.
We CAN withhold our viewership of their regular programs, though. And they are what pay for the news shows. So if we stopped watching our favorite shows on NBC, CBS, ABC (and admit it, we DO watch some of them), that viewership would go down as well, and thus further affect the MSM’s ad revenues. We can’t starve them out, but we can surely make them go hungry.
The loss of every thousand households costs them money, as they have to reduce what they charge to advertisers.
If enough people organized to do this, it would have an impact. And it’s something we can all do right from home. The time to do it would be during Nielsen sweeps weeks, when viewership and ad costs are determined.
I suppose you are right. When you talk to the locals away from the liberal enclaves, they tend to be pretty conservative.
Buy one while you can. If they follow California, you won't be able to buy them, sell them or transfer them. You won't be able to pass them along in your estate either. California forced registration of all "assault weapons" in 1999. The only alternative was to move them permanently out of state. That was my choice. I moved the firearms and everything else out of the state. It's a bigger problem when the law is federal. There's nowhere to go.
I've added you to the Atlas Shrugged ping list. :)
You've been added! :)
You've been added to the Atlas Shrugged ping list. :)
It's odd, but for the last year or two I have been positively OBSESSED--for no reason at all--with doing things primitively. I've made my own batteries, hobo stoves, and a solar cooker. I've experimented with compost heating.
Perhaps our good Lord is preparing us for something, eh?
You've been added to the Atlas Shrugged ping list. :)
You're on! :)
I will be waiting with anticipation to hear suggestions from you and others in the coming 60 days as to precisely what my family can do to protect itself financially and otherwise before America is "transformed."
I'm small potatoes compared to many, but I've earned what is mine and am not inclined to "spread it around" to others who haven't.
