John McCain on MNF.
(Excerpt) Read more at sports.espn.go.com ...
Add the Redskins thing as another thing for McCain to defy tomorrow.
“O” used it to campaign... I think Mac was much better.
The Redskins thing is garbage, as shown in 2004. They lost their final home game before the election in 2004 yet the Republican won anyway. Don’t listen to the ESPN Monday Night announcers lead by the effete liberal Tony Kornhole.
Yes I agree. Berman is Jewish, so I can see that being a factor. I also thought I read somewhere that he has contributed $ to GOP candidates in the past. Berman went up a few points in my book!
Uh, 0 was ... uh ... so-so.
But he’s going to pay for everyone’s gas and mortgage, so who cares?
That's right!!!
In fact, according to Jerry Crowe of the Los Angeles Times, that streak goes back to 1952...my research only went back to 1968!
By the way, in the years that the Democrat won, the Lakers either lost in the first round, or missed the playoffs entirely. (76 - missed playoffs, 92 and 96 - lost in first round)
I couldn't care less if Obama wins the popular vote. Our wise Founders made sure that is not the measure of a President. And I will enjoy seeing the RATs scream to abolish the electoral college, given that no less a personage than Thomas Jefferson was elected without benefit of the popular vote.
So is that idiot Kornheiser, who made more than one liberal quip tonight. I don't know which is worse, ESPN's MNF crew or their baseball crew (I forget the moron's name who is paired with Joe Morgan).
Good points!
I hope PA and the other coal producing states have heard about and vote on the fact that Osama wants to bankrupt their industry. VOTE McCUDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, you are incorrect. Gore didn't run in 2004, Kerry did and he lost the popular vote and the electoral vote. The superstition is dead.
Jon Miller works with Morgan. Miller is quite good - are you sure you don’t have them mixed up?
That was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the score!
I got that feeling too. He was just being gracious to Obabma, but you could tell he thinks Mac is a HERO!!!
Before the election of 2000, NO Republican had ever won the Presidency without Pennsylvania, a far more important indicator than any football superstition. GWB beat two Dems without us. This time, McCain will retake PA, and 0 will have no chance to win.
Love ya Black 'n' Gold!
So you’re saying “read between the lines”? I pray that they win!

Berman’s been a Lieberman supporter (see link) - maybe Joe’s friendship/support of McCain has rubbed off on Berman.
JohnnyMc is going to have to loose that AZ Cardinal fascination and get with the program...
;)PaMom (let's hope Pittsburgh, and W. PA makes McCain really happy tomorrow!!!!)
Youll notice that 2004 isnt included on that list, as the streak was snapped four years ago. The Redskins lost on Halloween to the Packers in 2004, which gave Kerry-supporting Green Bay fans a double-dose of happiness. But, the prediction finally failed the following Tuesday when George W. Bush won reelection.
Since then, Steve Hirdt of Elias Sports Bureau has changed the wording of the stat so that it looks at the winner of the popular vote in the previous election, not the incumbent party. This little trick allows the Redskins Rule to keep its 100% batting average, since Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000, thus making Kerry the incumbent in 2004. We think thats cheating a bit, as nobody ever mentioned the popular vote until after the Redskins Rule was rendered meaningless.
Not as good. He had that spittle going on his lip again. No good lines like “HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY....TO THE WHITE HOUSE”
