On top of that, i thought I saw recently where McCain was pulling strong among Jews as well. So, up with Catholics, up with Protestants, up or close to even with Jews, where is the beef? Are there truly that many non-believers in the US today? Something is awry.

If McCain is leading by large margins of both Catholics and Protestants, how can he be trailing in the polls? (And he’s leading among Mormons as well). There’s not that many Jews, Moslems or Atheists in the Country.

As an aside...went to a Mexican rest. last night with my son who was wearing an Obama shirt(I know I failed somewhere) .Without exception, he got dirty looks from the wait staff.
My Hispanic neighbors had an Obama sign last week. After going to Mass Sunday, the sign disappeared.Something is shifting.

This is the polling data from yesterday. Today’s IBD has him losing support among this group yet again...Believe what you will.

If McCain is leading Obama among Catholics and Protestants in significant numbers, how in the hell is he losing? This does not compute. Especially since Kerry carried Catholics by 4 in 2004 and lost.

So McCain leads big among Catholics and Protestants. And Obama’s lead among Jews is no where near Gore/Lieberman levels. So how is McCain behind? I doubt that there’s that many Atheists, Pagans and Muslims out there. And I sincerely doubt the Mormons are unified behind the ONE. *g*

Doesn’t jibe with all the other polls we’ve been fed.
All is lost.
I’m not even going to bother voting tomorrow.

Does anyone know what percentage of the Catholic vote Kerry won in 2004?

Which means that McCain will win. Bet the evangelicals have similar numbers (if not greater) than this too.

I agree that it should be higher, and I think it will be. Pollsters don't talk to these folks, usually. They like dims and independents.
But how about these Bishops?
The list of U. S. bishops who have spoken out on the priority of the life issues in this election is now over 100. The list now contains 70 individual bishops and three joint statements.
I would like to continue updating this list until the day of the election. I have tried to incorporate all the comments thus far. If I dd not get them all, I apologize. (For a few of the suggestions, I could not find a suitable link.)
Please continue using the comments section to let us know what bishop is not on this list who should be. This would include any bishop who has individually, or jointly, published a statement about this election pointing out the primacy of the life issues.
Thank you for your help.

Let me get this straight McCain wins the Catholic vote by 13 and the Protestant vote by 19? So why is he not ahead when the Catholic/Protestant voters far outnumber any other group? Because Obama loses a little in every segment but makes it up on volume.

It should a 99% lead, but 35% would seem more like what it would be. No Catholic should be voting for Obama period. However many "Catholics" are. Sad.

I’m so glad my fellow Catholics are understanding what’s at stake - the LIFE issue.
I sent letters to the editor to diocese newspapers all over the country, particularly swing states. I don’t know how many were published, because the Catholic newspapers don’t call you, but I did find out that at least two were published.
An attorney sent me a note saying he liked my letter, and he also sent me religious info..
I hope FReepers will send letters to editors to religious newspapers. We can reach a lot of fine folks this way. Too late for this election, but there will be other elections, and other causes.
