WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's grandmother died of cancer, he said in a statement on Monday, a little more than a week after Obama interrupted the White House race to say goodbye to her in Hawaii.

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer," Obama said in a joint statement with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng. "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility."

Dunham helped raise Obama from the age of 10 while his mother was working in Indonesia, and Obama took an emotional 22-hour trip to Hawaii to visit her on October 23 and 24.

The news of Obama’s loss on Wednesday certainly would not have given her strength.

Did he have power of attorney over her? Did he decide to stop any kind of life support?

Was she on a feeding tube?
So help me, that was my first thought.

Absent is exactly WHEN she died. Today? Yesterday? Two days ago? A week?

An investigation of DouglasKC began today, so far revealing curious facts about the mysterious figure who questioned Obama regarding details of the 273rd trimester abortion of his non-viable Grandma.

[A PUMA in my office said she died last week and that this is a set up.]

That’s what I think.

>>Nice timing. That’ll pick up a few sympathy votes for sure.<<

Actually, if many Obama voters are superstitious, it may do the opposite. We now have not one, but TWO deaths on the day before the election. His grandmother and his campaign director in Nevada.

Even one death on the day before the election is an amazing coincidence. But two?

May Our Lord shine his light of peace on the Obama family. Peace to the Grandmother as she makes her journey.

Aside from offering prayers for the families I wonder why Maya Soetoro Ng said her grandmother has made the islands her home since 1959? Soetoro Ng teaches history and dates are important to historians! The “official story” is that the Dunhams moved to Hawaii after Ann Dunham graduated from Mercer Island High School in June of 1960!
When exactly did Madelyn Dunham die and is this announcement to elicit the sympathy vote? Listening to Foxnews they just announced that Obama has known since 8 am.

This may be the first politically timed terminal sedation ever, though.”

And indeed the hospice doctors and nurses would likely have consulted with her closest family members about when they moved the morphine to a lethal level.

Seems to me that the appropriate thing to do would be to call off the Grant Park rally tomorrow night.

People should be careful about the insensitive remarks they are making on this subject. As a member of the media, I can tell you that reporters at this moment are monitoring remarks here and there is a possibility that stories will crop up on the heartlessness of Freepers. This will generate more sympathy for Obama and I know you don’t want that.

I am just saying: Be very, very careful about what you say here. And remember, what you give out comes back to you.

“Even she couldn’t stomach the thought of her ungrateful, SOB grandson as the President.”

-Yeah, my sentiments, exactly. Her last words were:

“Thank God I didn’t live to see this...”
