Americans (esp. Pennsylvanians) pay attention to this mans words:
The catalyst for our Industrial Revolution began with coal mining in states like Pennsylvania. Even today coal plays an integral part in our means of energy production. The keystone states' economy is considerably dependent on the coal industry. If you do not think a President Barrack Obama would be a threat to your pockets and living, you are sadly mistaken.
"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because Im capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers."
If Senator Obama can forsee skyrocketing energy costs being passed onto the American consumer due to his cap and trade plan, why can't he forsee the damage his tax plan will do to the American economy? His tax plan instantly increases the tax burden on corporations and small businesses. No amount of money he can redistribute will be able to offset the rising costs of goods and services that will be passed on to the American consumer. This is basic economics. Corporations do not pay taxes! They are passed on to the consumer. To take all this free capital and funnel it through an even greater Washington bureaucracy would prove catastrophic to this economy! -ObamaHood.org

This is like people saying that socialism doesn’t “work” - it WORKS, if your goal is to have the masses under the control of a few of the ruling class.
Same goal here - that energy usage will only be available for the very wealthy and the very well connected. Rand called this the “Aristocracy of Pull”.
Ooohh, I remember V! I loved that show!
And you are right in the similiarities. I didn’t realize it was based on a novel, I will search for this book now. Thanks!
I know an 0bama supporter. Single woman living in a 4500 sq ft house. And she’s a “it can’t happen here” denier.

Yeah. When I went to visit my aunt in the coal-mining area of Poland, where the government was in complete control of the economy, the pollution was so bad that she had to repaint her apartment every year.
On the plus side, at age 70, she was finally able to obtain her own apartment. She had worked as the rolling-pin-weilding manager of a local hotel, where she used to break up fights between coal-miners. I love my auntie!
The chicken we had for dinner looked like it had fallen down a flight of stairs though.
We don’t want to impeach Obama. He would be dreadful, but the institution of socialism does not rise to the level of impeachment. If he gets impeached, regardless of the reason, the next Republican president will face impeachment at every decision he or she makes. Unfortunately for us all, if Obama gets to the WH, all of us will suffer enormously, but there are consequences to elections.
He would be dreadful, but the institution of socialism does not rise to the level of impeachment.

I would agree that the socialism, itself, is not an impeachable offense, but the damage and outright oppression and suppression of Constitution rights and liberties, and the accompanying damage, in various forms, would be impeachable. Regardless of how hard the socialists are trying to make it otherwise, this is still A NATION OF LAWS. And we should be willing to fight to keep it that way.
