My wife made me canvas for Obama; here's what I learned (Henpecked worm finds HOPE!)

There has been a lot of speculation that Barack Obama might win the election due to his better "ground game" and superior campaign organization.

I had the chance to view that organization up close this month when I canvassed for him. I'm not sure I learned much about his chances, but I learned a lot about myself and about this election.

QUOTE: So you can imagine my surprise when my wife suggested we spend a Saturday morning canvassing for Obama. I have never canvassed for any candidate. But I did, of course, what most middle-aged married men do: what I was told.UNQUOTE

The fact that he has been trained by a liberal leftist wife to “do what he is told” will serve him well under an Obama socialist regime... like any good “useful idiot” the most important character quality is to know when you are supposed to “shut up and do what you are told to do”...

Also, the description of the constituents that surfaced in his door knocking experience is not a surprise...

Did they sound uninformed, uneducated, socially and financially dysfunctional folks living in public housing, all of whom are planning to vote for Obama because he is going to ‘pay them off’ with a little redistribution of wealth? I think that might be a fair assumption...

And, should McCain supporters be concerned that these Obama constituents will raise Obama to an overwhelming victory on Tuesday?

That's possible if they can remember that its election day, if they wake up in time, if they don't decide that since Obama is so far ahead that they don't need to show up anyway, if they can find an Obama bus to drive them to the polls, if they can find an Obama supporter to drive them to the polls, if they can actually find a polling location, if they can... if they can... if they can...

There is always a number of “if they can” issues that seem to get in the way when you rely on such constituents for your support as those described by this guy who was just doing what he was told to do my his liberal wife...

> Wachovia HQ is toast

Hahaha, Obama wants all the employees fired before the election! He thinks it will help him win NC.

If Wachovia employees were being canned there would already be an announcement, and the employees would be GONE. Take a look at Citibank for affirmation.

The way it works is that they keep employees around until things settle and then they let them go by degrees. it can take a while.

I learned one thing myself: there is a reason the Christan Monitor is shrinking its coverage.

Amazing how many prior W.H. Bush, etc. voters are now voting for ObamACORN. Amazing and highly suspect.

If he didn’t want to do it he didn’t have to or else he is one cowardly ‘man’. No one makes anyone do anything they don’t want to do! So, pardon me for thinking he is a liar.

I've learned that this election is about the heart of America. It's about the young people who are losing hope and the old people who have been forgotten. It's about those who have worked all their lives and never fully realized the promise of America, but see that promise for their grandchildren in Barack Obama. The poor see a chance, when they often have few. I saw hope in the eyes and faces in those doorways.

Taking a timeout from politics for a moment, the foregoing is a profound indictment against our culture. It highlights the need for meaning and purpose, that God-shaped void in the human heart. A false messiah comes along, and they in their human frailty reach and grab for him to fill that void. This should serve as an alert to our collective decadence and self-seeking, to how the Christian church, in striving to become "relevant", has lost her way. To reclaim culture, God must work in Christians to grasp the biblical Christianity (both testaments - many churches discount the value of the Old Testament which I believe is a huge part of the problem) from whence our JudeoChristian cultural mores derive.
