On a brief jump flight from Philadelphia to Scranton, McCain adviser Charlie Black and Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback came back to talk up the campaign's conviction that the glass if half full. "Four years ago at this point, George W. Bush was down five points in Iowa," Brownback said. "Today John McCain is down one point in Iowa."
He was citing an unreleased internal McCain campaign poll of the state, which was completed last Thursday, said Black. (The campaign stopped doing its own polling after Thursday, he added, because television time through the election all had to be purchased by Friday.) However, public polls in Iowa suggest that McCain is still in a big hole. Last week, the Des Moines Register poll, which has a good record of prediction in that state, put McCain's deficit at 17 points, with Barack Obama garnering 54 percent of the support.
"McCain is in a good position to win every red state," Black said. "Plus he is probably going to win Pennsylvania and Iowa." Polls have narrowed sharply in Pennsylvania in recent weeks, though Obama still has a sizable lead of 7 points in the Real Clear Politics average. Black said he had seen a poll recently that showed McCain tied in the Philadelphia suburbs, a crucial swing region of the state.

I think they keep the polls open late so they can vote the unused ballots.
It’s just a little trick to keep the ballots available longer until late in the evening - rather than locking them up where they would be safe and away from tampering.
It was a trashcan:
However, there was a bag in the trashcan, so technically you are correct. :-)
Well, meet a black Scot. LOL
Your family sounds a lot like mine. Our family roots stretch out all over the place, and go back to before colonization. Short version: We're European-African-Native American.
My family looks like a doggone rainbow, with everything from blonde hair and light eyes, to nappy hair and black skin. All of it from the same four grandparents.
I've got a Clan Bell badge tattooed on my shoulder. I'm like a bag of M&Ms - brown on the outside, with every color in the rainbow inside.
I got freckles too ;-)
not if we do not show up. Polls mean ZERO.
McCain is in a good position to win every red state,
Go Mac!
I do not know if it will do any good, but all of us from Ohio need to email Strickland and ask why his administratin is allowing corruption. Didn’t we have enough of that with Taft? We also have Ms.Kelly that pulled Joe the Plumber’s files. Just go to the Ohio State site and you can put in Strickland and get his email.
We voted early to make sure McCain had our votes. Lets hope and pray he takes Iowa and every other state.
It's certainly worth a try, though I think that a couple of 'letters to the editor' in the major newspapers (Cleveland Plain Dealer, Akron Beacon Journal, Columbus Dispatch, Canton Repository, Cincinnati Enquirer) would have been good a couple of weeks ago. Maybe that was done - I'm not in Ohio any more.
I did call the Medina County Election Commission office about a month ago to make sure that my name was no longer on the voting list since I've moved out of state. I told the official on the phone that I was deeply concerned about the voter fraud in Ohio that I'd been hearing about on TV.
We MUST be vigilant and make sure that we don’t allow anyone to be discouraged. I have no doubt whatsoever that the second the polls open in PA, all we will hear about all day will be the “huge, overwhelming” turnout in the southeast and the “massive exit poll lead for Obama”. Don’t you believe it. I find it impossible to believe that this state will elect The Marxist. Go vote, and don’t let anyone you know waver.
The MSM is going to bear the real responsibility for cities burning all over the US next week.
They are falsely raising the hopes of millions of clueless, but faithful Obamabots, who are going to want to declare open warfare on the "evil Republicans" for "stealing" yet another election when McCain wins it.
If that is the case, the MSM is COUNTING ON IT.
(CNN had the racist Havard professor who complains caucasian people are insufficiently balkanized.)
If they really want The One to win, why would they do this?
Maybe they're just so hard-wired to shill for Dems that they can't stop themselves. Or, they actually believe these wacked out poll numbers enough to report them.
Sheeesh... I guess you really don't have to think to be a liberal.
Oh well. Tuesday will be a grand day!
A GENUINE American, THIS is why we’ve succeeded!
Well met, cousin!
A leftie at a Halloween party was complaining about this, and I was agreeing that it was bad that they weighted the polls artificially. She was agreeing right along until the conversation diverged enough for her to realize I'm a >gasp!< Conservative!
She then proceeded to start shouting at me, leaning over me as I sat there.
Good for you. Where are you now living?
LOL call me “sister.” Although, truth be told I’ve had relatives from Philly to Rutand, Vt. be of the old variety amidst interbreeding w’Irish and German. I, however, look distinctly Spanish/Welsh/French/Italian.
Mainly I am Irish/English. V’s wife.
I won’t be getting out of work until 10:30 on Tuesday night, but I’m off on Wednesday, so I plan on staying up as late as needed to watch the results come in.
If he's tied in the Philly suburbs, Obama has had it. Philly is blue, rural PA is red, and Northeast PA despises Obama. Joe Magarac (the giant Pennsylvania steel worker) will stamp Barry flatter than a cockroach with the state's 21 electoral votes.
Funny how we don't go postal on people when we find that they're liberals, but turn the situation around, and damn...
Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.
Don’t forget the ballot questions!
