In another clip from the same January 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle in which Barack Obama promised to bankrupt anyone foolish enough to build coal-burning power plants, he also made an interesting admission about his entire energy plan. Obama told the editors that his policies would make energy prices skyrocket as the energy industry passed along the exorbitant costs of his cap-and-trade policy:

The problem is not technical, uh, and the problem is not mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington. The problem is, uh, can you get the American people to say, This is really important, and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. Uh, and climate change is a great example.
You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because Im capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.
They you you can already see what the arguments will be during the general election. People will say, Ah, Obama and Al Gore, these folks, theyre going to destroy the economy, this is going to cost us eight trillion dollars, or whatever their number is. Um, if you cant persuade the American people that yes, there is going to be some increase in electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term, because of combinations of more efficient energy usage, changing lightbulbs and more efficient appliance, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy, the economy would benefit.
If we cant make that argument persuasively enough, you you, uh, can be Lyndon Johnson, you can be the master of Washington. Youre not going to get that done.
>>Why is this freak even still in the running?!<<
Because he has an unpopular war, and financial collapse. otherwise, even John McCain could beat him.
PLEASE PEOPLE, GET THIS OUT TO THE NEWS MEDIA
“Because Im capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.”
Heat or food? And the Republicans were going to take the food from the mouths of the unwashed.
“Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad.””
This attitude is in the midst of demanding that the auto companies retool and build electric cars that take us no more than 80 miles at a whack.
The auto companies will be bankrupt.
The workers will not be able to get to work.
The trees will be gone because everyone will be using wood to heat their houses.
Starvation will occur because the refrigeration units won’t work and food stocks will spoil.
There will be a never-ending list of trouble.
ATLAS SHRUGGED!!!!!
Where is John Galt?

and financial collapse”
The financial collapse was born, nurtured, engineered and triggered by the Democraps.
Here is an item posted by Calpernia which relates to the coal/carbon credit scheme in Chicago:

A NJ reporter was on the our local radio last night. He was reporting on a meeting Gov. Jon Corzine was in. Corzine is working Obamas campaign. Word is Corzine is promised a high level position in the Treasury in an Obama Presidency. Corzine was former CEO of Goldman Sachs. The reporter said that Corzine told his Wall Street buddies that this financial crash will be fixed in an Obama admnistration. No details on how though.
I DO know that Maurice Strong is involved with Chicagos Climate Exchange. Al Gore is chairman of a private equity firm called Generation Investment Management. That firm invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companies that are going green. Generation Investment Management purchases carbon dioxide offsets. The co-founder of Generation Investment Management is former Goldman Sachs CEO Hank Paulson, who is currently the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury. Goldman Sachs bought 10% of Chicagos Climate Exchange shares for $23 million. Chicagos Climate Exchange owns half of the European Climate Exchange, Europes largest carbon trading company.

I`M SO RELIEVED TO BE CANADIAN !
EVEN WE REJECTED THE SOCIALIST LIBERAL PARTY AND THEIR PLAN TO CREATE A CAP AND TRADE AKA CARBON TAX SCHEME.
THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS AN INSULT BUT,
THE USA IS F****D !
SERIOUSLY.
bttt
I am still amazed at how much the Dems trot out “changing light bulbs” as if it’s that easy.
thanks a lot, Mr. Bush
FREEPERS, Write Drudge.
NOW
At least he was truthful about what will happen to electricity costs.
The greens always pretend efficiency will do it alone or that all the taxes will be paid by the evil corporations.
Sorry, homeowners will have to pay to 50% to 100% more for their electricity if the Greens and Obama do what they want to do.
OT, but didn’t know where else to put this quite yet:
Obama is campaigning live right now, and he said something like, “Usually I meet with important people...blah blah...but today I’m meeting with 2 people (mentions their names).” In other words, whoever those 2 people are are not “important.”
