I didn't hear it, but my mother just said all lawsuits were dismissed. Anyone else hear Garrett's comments?

Well, I certainly don’t mean to get dippy about it, but could you please point out where, in this very carefully worded statement, you encountered the words “Hawaii-issued birth certificate?”

Okay, why would the state of Hawaii have a birth certificate for Obama if they did not issue same? Seems as though that would be easy to answer. My questions were worded so that I might get an answer, because some people either don't answer or type around the subject. I've encountered it too many times to not ask very specific questions to the best of my ability.

If you just want to pick nits about the structure of my questions, you needn't waste valuable time responding to me again. Thanks so much.

Okay, Mr. Doug, since this subject is not rocket science ... who exactly is supposed to make sure that Obama has a birth certificate to match his claims and why is this person not performing her/her job?

If you had deigned to wander into these dippy threads before, you would know that Hawaii will issue a COLB for foreign births.

Constitutionally speaking, there is no single, designated authority over this. Natural born, over the age of 35, etcetera, but nothing specific about addressing challenges to these requirements.

I just hope we don’t get to relive Gore’s “no controlling legal authority” thing again.

“I believe the reason BO made a trip to Hawaii last week to make srue the truth stay hidden.”

I think so too. Just wish someone had followed him while he was there. Was there any talk of anyone following him?

Hello? Hello?

Greetings again from dippy thread land!

Was my cite from the specific statute of the State Of Hawaii sufficient to meet your high standard of proof regarding COLB being possible for foreign born individuals, or was your valuable time wasted yet again?

Bear with me, 'cause I'm trying to muddle through this. First, was the the statute in effect at or around the year that Obama was born? Secondly, in Hawaii, is there any difference whatsoever between a "birth certificate" and a "certificate of live birth"? The statute that you cited indicates that, upon proof as required, that they will issue a "birth certificate".

An additional question that comes to my mind after pondering on the info that you've provided is, if he was issued a birth certificate pursuant to the statute above, does that birth certificate actually state the place of birth? Further, from reading the statute it would appear that there is no requirement for citizenship of either parent, just that the parent has to have declared Hawaii their place of residence.

There are certainly questions that can be answered without actually seeing this document that Hawaii officials are protecting. Now when I say protecting, it is not to imply that they are doing anything but following the rules and/or laws that they would follow for any other person.

Depending on the answers that one comes up with, it seems that it might actually be possible that Obama was born elsewhere and there is not a darn thing that can be done to verify that fact.

Thanks for the conversation. This is much more informative than a mere collection of comments from people demanding to see something that they feel they are entitled to see, while the law may say otherwise.

"Constitutionally speaking, there is no single, designated authority over this. Natural born, over the age of 35, etcetera, but nothing specific about addressing challenges to these requirements."

That is a darn shame and should be remedied at the earliest possible date. Much of the energy that is being expended just demanding to see Obama's birth certificate could really be put to use trying to change the fact that nobody is supposed to be making sure that our presidential candidates are qualified according to the Constitution.

Well, thank you for a well reasoned and fair reply. I now feel embarrassed about being testy with you. That “dippy” thing got under my skin, if you couldn’t tell, lol.

I'm so sorry, but I do have a life and home and property and livestock and hobbies and family and responsibilities. I do not sit at this computer and read FR all day long, every day.

You know, I have been just as polite as I can be with you, and you have taken many opportunities to be really a kinda smartass.

As I mentioned earlier, thank you for the information. I will not be bothering you any further with responses.

LOL, okay. I appreciate your last statement and will try not to cross-post any more snippy comments.

I hope that you can see that I'm really trying to get some facts and understand this matter. Thanks again.

LOL! You started it (neener neener).

First, was the the statute in effect at or around the year that Obama was born?

I would venture a guess that it was, since the statute references "Territory" as well as "State," and Hawaii became a state in ... what, 1959? Or was that Alaska?

Secondly, in Hawaii, is there any difference whatsoever between a "birth certificate" and a "certificate of live birth"?

That I do not know. I've been under the impression that "Certificate Of Live Birth" was the specific legalese under Hawaiian law for a birth certificate, but the wording of the statute does throw that into question.

I'd love to see some sort of resolution to this question, and it really is a genuine point of concern, prior to the election. It appears to me that the far left is angling to create a Constitutional crisis.

Actually, both. Alaska in January and Hawaii in August or September, I believe.

"That I do not know. I've been under the impression that "Certificate Of Live Birth" was the specific legalese under Hawaiian law for a birth certificate, but the wording of the statute does throw that into question."

To me, both terms mean the same thing. However, many of the folks on these threads have made a distinction between the two things, and that may just be misinformation. Lots of that around.

I actually pulled out my "birth certificate" a few minutes ago and it is not identified or titled as either of those things. It is signed by a registrar and sealed that it is a certified copy of an original document on file. Interesting.

"I'd love to see some sort of resolution to this question, and it really is a genuine point of concern, prior to the election."

I really think that there must be people somewhere that have seen all of the facts and know that there is no problem with Obama's candidacy. It is difficult to imagine that he has come as far as he has without being bombed out of the water by an ideological opponent.

I wish I still had your faith that the letter of the law, and the Constitution, was being following in our country. Laws are being ignored, wholesale, though. Voter registration, immigration status, citizenship ... in light of this, if one were to be of a mind to undermine the United States, it’s a logical step to test requirements for political leadership.

Sorry, I change the channel when smug Garret is on the telly.

I have liked Major Garrett ever since his coverage (from Washington, DC) of President Reagan's funeral. Just a pity he got stuck with the Obama duty.

Perhaps the judiciary is hoping this will be a moot point if Barry loses. Although he has no right to be a senator if he is not even a legal resident, which is suggested in the Obama Timeline.
