Friends don't let friends...Persuading Dems to vote McCain
tsomer

Posted on 11/01/2008 8:04:56 AM PDT by tsomer

We all know more than a few--
Dems who support 0. Reasoning makes them stubborn.
Warning them angers, begging reassures them. But, there may yet be a way to breech the walls. Try this:

"So you're voting for Obama?"
"Oh yes, (blah blah blah)."
"Well, he might win. That's too bad for Hillary."
"Why so? "
"Well you know, if Obama wins he'll probably get two terms, and then the pendulum will swing back. Or he might get booted after one, it's going to be a rough four years no matter who is in there. If Obama's fixed the economy, it'll be smooth sailing and they'll keep it a full 8 years. That means she can't expect to run for another 12 years, possibly 16. She's 61 years old now, and a lot can happen in 12-16 years. If McCain wins, with a lousy economy and all, Hillary's got a shot in 4 years."

Then change the subject. Immediately

Maybe you shouldn't say this much, this is a tactic, not a formula. Mileage may vary with road conditions, driving habits, weather, etc.

Hit them with information from this post and ask them my tagline. That at least might get them thinking.

I prefer:

Socialism has failed every time it’s been tried.
Everybody has an insurance card and nobody has healthcare.
No National Defense and no personal defense.
The Chicago Mafia is the model for dictatorial regimes around the world.
Abortion and Euthenasia will be mandatory, under “government guidelines”.
Productivity and inovation will disappear.

My oldest daughter was set to vote for Obama. However, knowing she has a top secret security clearance, I pointed out that Obama’s association with Ayers, if Obama were a private citizen, would probably be enough to deny him a security clearance. I also mentioned Obama’s lack of voting record when he was in the Illinois State Senate.

I don’t know if I changed her mind, but she promised to look into it. Knowing her, she will do the appropriate research. I think the security clearance issue really opened her eyes. At one point in her life, my daughter had to end a relationship due to problems it created with her security clearance.

Uh.......I think the Hillary supporters know this. That’s why 30% of her supporters are voting McCain. The others are so left-wing, they’ll go ahead and vote for Hussein.

If you sense them “going wobbly” on McCain before the election,
send them to the link below.
To show them they know more about Obama than TOM BROKAW and CHARLIE ROSE.

(remind them their tax dollars help pay Charlie Rose’s PBS salary,
at least indirectly)

the best and maximum use of your time is to head down to your local GOP headquarters and help make phone calls and doorknocking. aside from that, you should first make sure all likeminded friends and family have voted and voted republican. go after your conservative Ds and evangelicals friends and family. offer elderly friends and neighbors a ride to the polls if you have to. these are votes that are in the bag if we can just get them all out to vote.

after these effective efforts, then try convincing your dem friends and family to vote for McCain. (my experience has not been successful, but maybe mine are just more hardheaded than usual.)

anyone seen the documentary “So Goes the Nation” about Ohio in 2004? it’s changed my view on how to approach elections. I’m not wasting precious time trying to convince my liberal brother and sister to vote with us. rather, I made sure my mom, granny, aunt, uncle and other family members and friends have voted. they all hate obama but unless they vote, what good does that do? also targeted family friends that are evangelicals and are conservative democrats. that’s 20-25 votes in the bag in two states, vs my 2 siblings in one state.

I also traveled to a swing state to be an RNC victory marshal. let’s maximize our time and opportunities and win this thing!!!

I was talking to some neighbors a week ago. I said I supported McCain, and I asked a guy wearing an Obama button why he was that was his choice. He admitted he supported Hillary, but felt obliged to vote Dem regardless.

Getting him over the line would help twice as much: one more for McCain, one less for O.
