Brought home my new AR-15 yesterday. For those who don't know what that is, the AR-15 is the civilian model of the M-16 rifle. It is what one would call an assault gun. I am in my fifties, a hunter who has always had hunting rifles and shotguns. A man who has always got a sense of pride of ownership for his guns. Cherishing the thought of passing my collection on to my children.
This is different, there is no joy. In fact, I felt sadness as I drove home with my new possession. You see, I purchased this weapon as a safety precaution. Not from home invasion by criminals, not from looters, but from a possible civil war that I fear may be close to being unavoidable.
Our nation is on the precipice of falling into the darkness of socialism, not the friendly European kind, but the Nazi like type Germany experienced in the thirties. The fascist socialism that has been so cruel in history. The kind that takes from all but their favored. The kind that does not tolerate opposition and indeed crushes it. The kind that we all know inside is driven by evil rather than good.
So, bringing this gun home was a sad day, a day I would rather not remember. And, after familiarizing myself with this new weapon and becoming proficient in it's use I intend on putting it away and hope to forget about it.
But, should the day come when I need to remember, I will be prepared.
So go ahead and have fun with your AR-15 while knowing the skills you're practicing may come in handy "in case of zombie invasions"! I enjoyed both shooting and working with mine so much, I went ahead and built a second Vietnam-era retro version from excess parts. :-)
Oh, and I recommend you visit AR-15.com for a great source of on-line info.
“When we have two groups of people with such opposite political philosophies, why should they be forced to live with each other?”
I agree with you wholeheartedly. The problem is, the left cannot, by its very mindset, allow separation. The left is akin to cancer: It must devour all that is not like it, with the ultimate goal of having all become just like it. The left and the muzz pretty much believe in the same thing, and both are equally fatal to freedom. That’s why there is an alliance of sorts between the left and the muzz.
That said it is possible on some AR-15s- depends on how the lower receiver is configured. Major manufacturers like Colt have modified their AR-15 lower receivers to prevent modification and use of the M-16 auto sear and trigger assembly. Other manufacturers make their AR-15 models from the same parts as their government contract M-16s but simply leave off the auto sear retaining pin holes in the lower and use the semi-auto trigger assembly and bolt. The differences are very sublte.
To each his own but you do realize what you posted was information from over thirty years ago.
What company did you buy your M1A? Springfield Armory?
I was in the Marine Corps ( Korean War)and to my knowledge,at that time, we did not have any small caliber weapons that were full auto and that was the very reason, it compromised the accuracy.
A revolver is a very basic and very reliable firearm. One can never go wrong with a revolver. All you need is one well-placed shot from a .357 magnum to the chest and the bad guy is done for the day (and likely done forever).
“While full-auto may be fun for burning through money quickly, Id prefer to be a better marksman with a semi-auto or bolt action rifle.”
That’s a fact. Far more efficient and far, far less expensive.
Pray that the Christians vote their convictions and turn out and vote against the new messiah. By all means stock up on ammo. I have avoided the black rifles, as they will be the first to be confiscared. The first thing I feel will be done is to put an huge tax on “ military calibers” which will affect Most rifle calibers. I also expect “huge” stocks of ammo to be banned for “safety reasons”. The old reliable !2GA Pump is always nice to have. Because of Confiscation concerns my house gun is a Marline Guide gun in 45/70 (military caliber?). Unless we can get partial support from the military, a civil war will certainly end like the last one did. Biden has already warned us that Obama will be tested and we won’t like his response.( “martial law”? )

That is interesting. I have two magazines for my SKS - they are completely detachable. No stripper clips necessary.
That being said, I did have to removed the swing away stock magazine (still have it in a box somewhere).
Headed to a local gun show tomorrow. I’m interested to see what it will be like pre-election...
Going to get some more .223 and magazines.
Because the Socialist need someone to feed them!
I am taking notes. :-)
Thanks!
GOD be with us all... at least if it happens, we will be on the same side.

ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE
It was said by Japanese Admiral, before the start of WW II, the thought of invading the West coast. I believe the admiral was Yamamatto(spl?) having lived in the country he said that there is a gun behind every blade of grass, and it was not a good idea to invade the U.S.
If I’m wrong I’m sure some one will correct me.
just my thoughts
Only buy good ammo and practice your jam drills.
Converting any firearm to full auto will get you a long stretch in Club Fed. And all it would do to your AR is make a weapon into a toy with a magazine’s worth of crud in the bolt carrier every time you turn on the hose.
You don’t get resupply from Uncle Sugar and you haven’t learned to clean this thing yet. Slow fire is your friend.
And as someone else pointed out, if you need to send eight or nine slugs downrange with one trigger pull that’s what OO or OOO buck in your shotgun is for.
