I spoke out about all the Obama rhetoric spouted by my co-workers, now I'm out of a job.
Sorry to hear your story. I’ve been in the same position before. However things always turn out for the best since now I have a “Republican” company to work for.
IT ALWAYS WORKS OUT FOR THE BEST...DON’T FEEL BAD.. YOU’LL FIND A NEW JOB AND WONDER WHY YOU TOLERATED THE BAD ONE FOR SO LONG....
I work in downtown Chicago, and let me say a few things:
God save the United States of America from an Obama Presidency.
I’ll meet you in the Gulag, sister. It’s going to be a fine collection of people.
Thanks for letting us know. I was considering switching to Dish Network to save money because Comcast is so expensive. I was actually going to cancel my Comcast today and have Dish Network installed this week.
I'm not considering Dish Network anymore.
Score that Lisa from Buckeye Country: 1. Dish Network: 0
My best and most sincere wishes for you to find a better job in a more hospitable workplace. I know what you're going through. The place I work for is 95% Obamanuts too. Hard to be the lone voice of reason in a crowd of people looking for their "savior."
Lisa, life is too short to abide this type of abuse, & you can be sure it would have continued after the election, no matter who wins.
Yes, things are at their darkest w/o a job. But good employees don’t stay unemployed long, so I’m sure you will find work soon. And if it is not exactly what you want, then continue looking for a better job.
I too, have had to resign because of an abusive work environment. So has my wife. Both of us were scared to death of being jobless, but both situations turned out for the better.
In the case of my wife, her new job has been everything the old job wasn’t! She is so glad to be away from those ugly people, & she is clearly a happier, more self-confident person.
I am sure your situation too will improve, & soon you will wonder why you didn’t resign sooner. This is likely to be a “blessing in disguise” for you. It certainly was for my wife & I!
I know how you've got to be feeling, and I wish there was someway I could whisk your pain away; been all through this.
You were essentially told by your supervisor, after coming to her/him for counsel/assistance, to "stop causing problems". Your next step should have been marching directly to your Human Resources office.
While this still may not have given you satisfaction, legally, it would have put you on the grounds to possibly a lawsuit should you have chosen to go that path.
The Art of War also teaches that when one is surrounded by crocodiles, sometimes it's best to wear camouflage until you've got your exit or attack lined up.
And I do understand why you quit. Now, you do need to find a job. The Holiday season is starting up -- it's time to hit the pavement. I'd be glad to email you some job websites.
And I offer to help you with your resume.
No, I don't say you screwed up. You just had a very hard lesson; one of life's amazing curveballs. You will get up again, and you'll find coworkers better than the ones you've just left. Rest assured, however, very possibly your coworkers are also being told to "cool it". While they may feel smug for having busted "the enemy", know that what goes around comes around; and their false victory is going to bite them hard.
Hang in there! The moment you stop listening to your own inner thoughts, and following these, is the first moment you derail from living your own unique and special life.
You've got skills; and you left before you were fired. That looks good on an application/resume. Wear it with joy. This bad episode, while you are not receiving unemployment, still makes you marketable. Everyday, send out applications/resumes. Hit the pavement. Drive around. Go in and talk with managers, introduce yourself, give them your sunniest best along with your resume and completed application.
I see on this thread some have potential jobs which may work for you. FreeperVille is full of talented, creative people who'd very much like to help you.
Now, to find you a job.
unless you live in Wyoming where juries don’t pay damages large enough to pay the lawyers fees
We must all hang together or we shall most certainly hang separately.
Go to your state’s Job Service office - and file a wrongful termination action against the employer for allowing a hostile work environment.
Since that time, we have the Patriot Act & other “security” laws allowing increased surveillance.
I wonder who the patriots and terrorists will be under an 0bama presidency?
Khalidi, Ayers, Wright, et al, obviously will no longer be the terrorists, so they must be the patriots! I guess that makes conservatives the terrorists, & ripe for having the laws applied. And the fascist state begins!
What will you be willing (or afraid) to say here at FR after an 0bama inauguration in January?
Barack will fix it.
I work at the Pentagon and McCain supportes don't talk. For some reason, the Obama supporters do. If I had to guess, I'd say that 7 in 10 support McCain.
The intimidation factor, in my opinion, is derived from the fear of being labeled a racist!
If you complain about actions being taken against because of your political discourse and report it to the authorities, you motives will be questioned and you will be accused of stirring racist activity.
I believe that the people in authority will turn you from the victum to the villain!
THIS IS THE CULTURE THAT OBAMA CAMPAIGN HAS CREATED!
Google “hostile work environment” for some ideas on how to proceed.
This works both ways: I told my receptionist yesterday to remove her Obama button or find a new job. She removed the button.
If it is a private business, I'd support their right to fire anybody, for any reason. That sucks, but it beats the alternatives.
What you should have done..you should have said some guy touched you.
Sorry about that, but a lot of us are in that position. I’ve chosen the “keep your mouth shut and ear to the ground” route. You pick up a lot of good stuff playing clandestine spy.:) The day after the election, OTOH, if all goes our way, I won’t even try to contain the glee.
