Today President Bush traveled to Camp David where he and Mrs. Bush and key members of his cabinet will stay this weekend.

The President released a statement on this upcoming Veteran’s Day, proclaiming November 9th through 15th as Veteran’s Awareness Week.(Transcript)

President Bush: Our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their quiet courage and exemplary service. We also remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom's defense. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. On Veterans Day, we remember these heroes for their valor, their loyalty, and their dedication. Their selfless sacrifices continue to inspire us today as we work to advance peace and extend freedom around the world.

Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Sarah Palin campaigned in Pennsylvania today, speaking at rallies in Latrobe and in York—and as Rush said, “she was on fire!” (Transcript)

Governor Palin: Pennsylvania, the far-left wing of the Democrat Party is preparing to take over the entire federal government. Now, with Democrats in control of the House and the Senate, heaven forbid the White House -- and this isn't a mainstream policy, mainstream thinking in the Democrat Party. It is far left. Let's not entrust all the powers of the federal government to the one-party rule of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. (boos)

Quote of the Day:

President Bush: From the fields and forests of war-torn Europe to the jungles of Southeast Asia, from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan, brave patriots have protected our Nation's ideals, rescued millions from tyranny, and helped spread freedom around the globe. America's veterans answered the call when asked to protect our Nation from some of the most brutal and ruthless tyrants, terrorists, and militaries the world has ever known. They stood tall in the face of grave danger and enabled our Nation to become the greatest force for freedom in human history. Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard have answered a high calling to serve and have helped secure America at every turn.

Our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their quiet courage and exemplary service.

Latrobe, Pennsylvania

Republican U.S. vice presidential Candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin greets supporter as daughter Piper looks on at a campaign rally at Latrobe Airport October 31, 2008 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

Republican vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin stands with her children, from left, daughter Willow, holding her brother Trig, dressed as an elephant, and Piper, dressed as a snow princess, Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pa.

Although Election Day is only 4 days away it is still Halloween for the Palin kids and the Alaska governor introduced her family at this rally in an airplane hanger, “I’m happy to have up here also Piper and it’s Halloween so she’s the snow princess today. She’s just been dying to get to wear that costume and Willow and we have Trig with us also.”

7-year-old Piper is decked out in a full snow princess winter white dress with a tiara, and curls—clearly ecstatic to be dressed up for Halloween and by her mother’s side. Palin’s 6 month old son, Trig is outfitted in a very appropriate elephant costume. (Source)

Republican U.S. vice presidential Candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin greets supporters with husband (L-R) Todd, daughters Bristol holding son Trig and Piper at a campaign rally at Latrobe Airport October 31, 2008 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

They listen while Sarah is introduced by former Chicago Bears coach, and Pennsylvania native, Mike Ditka.

Former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka shows his Super Bowl ring to Republican vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin prior to Palin addressing supporters at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pa., Friday, October 31, 2008.

Mike Ditka: I’m not here because I’m a Republican, which I am, and I’m not here because I’m a conservative, which I am. I’m here because I am an American. It’s time in this country you put party lines on the backburner and you put your country first.

When I was growing up, it was back in 1963. Then John Kennedy became president-he made a statement: ‘ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.’ Now, it seems to be just the opposite. This is the land of opportunity. It’s not a land of handouts. If you’re willing to work, you can find a job. If you’re willing to work, you can find a job.

I want to say how proud I am because I think Sarah Palin epitomizes all the good things, all the good values, of this country. She’s a wife, she’s a mother, she’s a hockey mom, she’s a part-time coach. She was a great leader and is a great leader in the state of Alaska, and she will make a great vice president of the United States, Sarah Palin.
