Kenneth M. Duberstein, Ronald Reagans final White House chief of staff and a former political confidant of Senator John McCain, is the latest high-profile Republican to say he will vote instead for Senator Barack Obama for president.
Mr. Dubersteins decision, confirmed in a brief interview, was not a big surprise given his close friendship with former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who recently announced on NBC News Meet the Press that he would vote for Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee, because he was disappointed that both Mr. McCain and the Republican Party have become so socially conservative and negative.

Liberal Republicans -- good guys to have on your side in a knife fight, eh?
Over at NRO The Corner, Kathryn Jean Lopez is trying to find reasons why Peggy Noonan has not joined this crowd -- an unsuccessful effort, I think.
“Everybody wants to get into the act!” - Jimmy Durante
“Peggy Noonan has not joined this crowd — an unsuccessful effort, I think”
Not hard to understand. She wants to continue to be identified as a “conservative” writer.
I trust RINOs even less than I trust Liberal Democrats. They truly have no value system, at least Liberals know what they believe. RINOs are opportunists.
You know, this reminds me of the end of World War II, when all these cowardly “neutral” countries started to declare war on Germany and Japan. These fools believe the media polls, and want a place as the trough in Obamanation.
If McCain was leading in the polls, you can bet Duberstein would have kept his mouth shut.
Better to vote for someone who is morally bankrupt than someone so conservative.
Okay then.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
“socially conservative” bugs this guy so much eh?
this election is eye-opening
This election is acting like a great cleansing enema for the Republican party. If we win this election we can thank the ONE for outing these RINOs from the closet
Really, these people are craven.
They’re much worse than the misguided liberal who truly believes Obama’s lies. These RINOs know Obama is full of it, but they want a seat at the table of power.
Isn’t Duberstein a tad old to be very much worried about getting abortions for his girlfriends?
What the f is going on with these turncoats? Doing this so late in the game is clearly bravado and utterly classless in my opinion. Sounds Jewish?
I think you’re right. In fact, if McCain were leading in the polls all these people would have come out and endorsed McCain. I have come to realize with this election that a lot of these people are just opportunists. They never were conservatives.
“Love the one you’re with”. :)
This election has the potential to split BOTH parties wide open. The Democrat party has a huge split between the Clintons and traditional Democrats and the new Pelosi-Reid-Obama Axis of Marxism.
On the Republican side, you can see the liberal RINOs split from the Moderates and Conservatives.
Duberstein strikes me as one of those guys who refuses to admit he has a failing testosterone level and damaged prostate, so he puts on a false front of being overly concerned with abortion rights ~ as if his girlfriends still need them.
Maybe he's just trying to rationalize away all the ones that occurred in the past.....
This is why I would love for McCain to pull it off. Just to see the looks on these losers face Wednesday morning.
The guy is a weasal. His wife works for Charlie Rose, another non-surprise.
And a lot of these are the same jerks who pushed McCain down our throats during the primary. Well, they got their moderate Republican, aka RINO. Where are your votes RINOs????
