Here's an email to send your soft-hearted friends that want to vote for Obama "because he cares":
Vote for Compassion and Generosity: Vote McCain/Palin
There are at least 50 reasons why I am voting for John McCain, but this one goes to the personal qualities of the candidates themselves.
The McCains have a long record of community involvement and reaching out to those in need. From Cindy's work as a special ed teacher to their adoption of an abandoned young Bangladeshi to their providing a house for a needy Aunt and a multitude of other ways, they have shown compassion and generousity all their lives. Their tax returns show a consistent pattern of many years of giving to charity, with 22% of gross income going to various causes.
Then there is Senator Barack Obama. From his various streams of income, including his book royalties, he makes over a $1,000,000 a year. Yet his Aunt and Uncle live in a slum in Boston. His brother, George Obama, lives in dire poverty in Kenya. In Dreams from My Father, (read it, he definitely has a smooth writing style), he speaks of his feelings of responsibility for his relatives. But when Uncle Omar in Boston got his eviction notice, he got no help from his nephew. And not just any nephew. His very, very rich nephew, according to Obamas own definition of wealth. A man of smooth words but little action.
His tax returns show that he gave almost nothing to charity until the year before he announced for the Presidency. In the last two years, he bumped it up to 6% on an income of more than a million.
Or we could compare Joe Biden to Sarah Palin. According to the Obama campaign, Joe is well within in the category that we must call upon to spread the wealth around. So how much spreading has he done? Over the past ten years the Bidens have given an average of $389 a year to charity.
By comparison, although the Palins have an income that is half of the Bidens, For every dollar Joe gave, Sarah and Todd Palin gave $19.
