H/t readers BondPlainBond and Steve. Breaking down the front door of a suspected al-Qaeda stronghold in Fallujah took great courage. But even that fearless feat pales in comparison to the dangerous mission that Willie Geist took on. The intrepid member of the Morning Joe crew ventured out onto the sidewalks of Manhattan's Upper West Side wearing . . . a McCain-Palin T-shirt, trying to drum up support for the Republican ticket.

As Willie explained, it was all a good-natured goof. But the West Siders for the most part lived up to their stereotype of, as Willie described it, "a monolithic block of elitists," scorning Geist for his gall.

Every day I have to listen to one of the supervisors at my place of employment (a research facility, BTW), ranting at length, to wit: “I hate those people! No, my God, my husband and I could never retire to [various states] because they’re full of conservatives! They’re so vicious and disgusting and full of hatred!”

This is a Jewish woman. She loves and supports Israel. She is voting for Obama.

That was nothing less than a free ad for Obama. It disgusts us, but for those that go with the flow that kind of thing drags them along big time. That was outrageous.

My point was that she accuses conservatives of being full of hatred, but all of her speech is full of hatred for us. Of course, she treats me well and calls me "honey" and "darling" because she doesn't know that I'm conservative. But it's very stressful for me to work in an environment in which I feel like a spy behind enemy lines.
