Citing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obamas technological savvy and technology policies, Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt expressed his support for the Illinois senator yesterday at the Law School.
Schmidt and Obamas technology advisor Julius Genachowski made a stop in Charlottesville yesterday in an effort to garner support for the presidential candidate and his technology policies. The pair spoke on a wide variety of issues from income disparity to using the Internet as a means for civic engagement, but the primary focus was Obamas technology policies.

Me too, I am no longer a Google user.
Heck, it hurts, but not that much
To: ml/nj
Guess it is back to Yahoo for a start page. I won’t support him and his company if they are that stupid.

From a strategic standpoint, I can see why Google would do this. Recall back in the early days of the Clinton administration that Apple, IBM and Sun Microsystems lobbied the Justice Department to go after Microsoft for allegedly being an evil, illegal monopoly (which to this day I find hard to believe because even back then you could use MacOS if you liked).
The court case dragged on for years, and Microsoft ultimately killed it by lobbying the Bush Administration early on to do so. Even though Google does indeed back Hussein, I still believe that this is simply a form of protection money first and foremost.

Gotta' give Obama credit...
it's quite a coup to leverage "a community organizer" career
to being considered the technologically savvy candidate.
And it doesn't hurt when some of his cult members are heads of
big companies.

Come on, there were legitimate claims of monopoly abuse. Especially when pressuring vendors like Dell, HP, etc... that they would lose sweetheart licensing deals if they bundled Netscape with the machine.

Yup...aren't these the guys who will cozy up to those tyrannical dictators in China?
So...why wouldn't one completely expect them to do the same with Hugo Obama?

No, this guy knows what he is doing.
He’s making it harder for the ‘next-Google’ to ever get started so that they can maintain their dominant position.

Come on, there were legitimate claims of monopoly abuse. But even back in those days if you as a customer did not like Microsoft you could buy a Mac. Furthermore, what business does the government have telling a private company what they can and cannot bundle with their own software?

I’m not talking about Apple. I’m talking about Netscape (and now Linux/BeOS).
Microsoft was twisting arms of companies NOT to bundle Netscape with their OS. And doing the same if you dared offer another OS on your machines (BeOS, Linux, etc...)
Unfortunately the DOJ made a bad decision — to go after the ‘bundling of Internet Explorer with Windows’ problem. To me it was no problem at all. If Microsoft wanted to bundle a browser, great.
The problem is when they blackmailed OEMs to not bundle any other OS’s and Browsers on their machines.
That’s my beef — and it stifled other OS’s and browsers to the point that they are now only starting to recover.
