Senator Barack Obamas infomercial drew 33.5 million U.S. viewers Wednesday night, according to Nielsen.
The simulcast the first of its kind since Ross Perot ran a political telecast on the eve of Election Day in 1996 aired on CBS, FOX, NBC, Univision, BET, MSNBC, and TV One between 8pm and 8:30pm EST.
Perots 1996 telecast drew almost 22.7 million viewers.
On an average Wednesday night, these networks draw a combined average of 30.3 million average viewers during the that half-hour daypart.
In comparison, the final debate between the two presidential candidates drew 56.5 million U.S. viewers on October 15. The candidates first debate on September 26 drew 52.4 million viewers; their second debate, on October 7, drew 63.2 million viewers.

The Barack Obama paid political message rated very well, scoring 26.4 million across NBC, CBS and Fox, with an impressive combined 18-49 demographic rating/share of 8.1/22. Flying solo among the broadcast networks versus Obama, Pushing Daisies was relatively pummeled, but it did actually increase average viewers by nearly a million versus last weeks airing when it only drew 5.67 million. Last night it averaged 6.64 million.
Compare that with this article Dated Oct. 10th. It states that Perot got 26 million viewers with his simulcast in 1992. I dont' think the 26 million viewers Obama got across 3 major channels is all that significant. I'm not sure why some of the numbers don't seem to match, but I am comforted by the overall feeling that Obama wasted a whole lot of money!

Obamas Oct. 29 Simulcast Follows In Perots Footsteps
Perots 1992 telecasts drew an average audience of 11.6 million viewers 4.6% of all viewers nationwide. His one simulcast, carried on ABC and CBS on November 2, 1992 between 8pm and 8:30pm, attracted 26 million viewers.
They want their PIE.
apparently many of the people who will vote for or already voted for the one, watched him in adoration
I’d settle for him getting 33 million votes

Okay, which of you Freepers watched this B Hussein Obama Infomercial????
Did not watch this. I had to pick up dog droppings in the yard. I suspect Barry is seriously overexposed by this time. More and more people are hearing the truth come out. Pray that November 4th swings our way.
"Muahaaahaahahaha! I control all of the channels and will soon spend another $800 billion DOLLARS!!!!!"
I suppose a few watched it 'cause they actually like the guy.
Ratings are like polls. I’ve seen 17m, 26m and now 33m.
As Rush asked, when will the people in the video who make their cases for Obama based on poor financial issues be investigated by the media and State the way that Joe the Plumber’s taxes, licenses, child support, et al were made front page news?
Didn't Sarah Palin's debate draw some 72 million viewers?
The real story is the 170 million who turned off their sets entirely.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could have Palin on during primetime on Monday night?
It makes me sick to think that Obama had 30-mins to puke out propaganda without any rebuttal. If McCain had given a 30-min infomercial, the media would have torn it apart piece by piece but not so with Obama....
well, 70 million people tuned in to see Sarah in the VP debate...
I wonder what the viewship would be if Sarah did an infomercial?
If Obama wins, we'll ALL be getting 'pie.' ;)
Yea, but how many could actually stand to watch it through to the end? It was sicky gross !
There is no way I watched this! I don’t think I could stomach any more of this guy’s nauseating ideas for America.
I think it’s interesting that he didn’t seem to draw any more people across the 3 major network channels than Perot did on only 2 major network channels back in 1992.
That's what I would have done.Although I was out having dinner anyway so I missed it.
Obama is running long commercials today. I didn’t time it but it had to be over a minute long about the Obama Plan.
The numbers certainly suggest that he was preaching to the choir last night. Only about 1/4 of the likely 130M voters actually watched it. In another perspective, barely more than half as many people watched it as voted for John Kerry in 2004.
