Iran Tested a Nuke?
American Daughter Media Center ^ | October 30, 2008 | Allan Erickson

Iran may have tested a series of nuclear weapons underground. The Israel Insider reported:

Iranian source: “Quake” Saturday was nuclear bomb test October 28, 2008 at 11:00am

Israel Insider exclusively reports that a seismic event this weekend in southern Iran may in fact have been a massive underground nuclear bomb test. According to the USGS, the tremor measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale took place Saturday night, October 25 just before midnight Iran time, with its epicenter at 26.70°N, 55.02°E, just north of the strategic straits of Hormuz, opposite Abu Dhabi.

The claim that the tremor was in fact a nuclear test came from an Iranian nuclear scientist who claims to be working in uranium enrichment for the project. A report published by Israel Insider on Friday, October 24 included a captionless map that portrayed the area of the seismic event that occurred the following night, based on location information previously provided by the Iranian source.

Israel Insider’s source reports that the test is in fact the second in a series. A 4.8 Richter scale event occurred on October 21 with an epicenter (26.70N, 54.96E) within 5 km (3 miles) of the October 25 tremor.

Israeli and foreign sources have long speculated that Iran has been in possession of ready nuclear bombs but would only begin testing them when a full production line for nuclear weapons is in place.

The source indicated that Iran is being assisted by China and North Korea. Israel Insider’s Iranian source reports that two “nuclear rockets” have been completed and are intended for use against the Jewish State in the coming months.

The site of the test and the development facility are believed to be in close proximity. The location appears to have been carefully selected. The area is exposed to significant seismic activity, which could serve to mask nuclear tests, although the recent spike in activity in that specific area significantly deviates from historical trends. A tremor measuring 6.2 struck the area on September 10, 2008 (its epicenter was 80km or 50 miles due west), the largest seismic event in the area in more than 33 years.

The location on the Persian Gulf near the straits of Hormuz would also facilitate delivery and transport of material and personnel. the strategic importance of the immediate area may also be intended to deter potential strikes against the facilities, which could close down the flow of a substantial percentage of the world’s oil.

There has been NOTHING in the mainstream media about this. Perhaps they think it would help the McCain/Palin ticket!

Isn’t the seismic trace of an underground nuke detonation clearly distinguishable from that of an earthquake?

I'm certainly no expert, but the answer to that has almost got to be yes.

Well well... once upon a time US presidents received a Heroe's welcome in TEHRAN. Truman, Ike, Nixon...

But, dontcha know? Carter thought the Shah to be a mean, cruel, tyrant who doesn't fit Jimmuhs vision of human rights! Having the Shah of Iran, as the most pro-American, pro-Western statesman for four decades as the Guardian of the Middle East was of no significance for Jimmuh Cartraitor.

Obviously Arafat, Khomeini and Chavez are "godly" to him however.

Curse on Carter and his like. They have the blood of Americans, Israelis and decent Iranians on their hands.

No need to apologize. I’m not used to seeing things couched in these terms, but I have been having the same thoughts - as are many others.

No matter what happens, I can take comfort in the fact that conservatives, by and large, are far more likely to call upon God for blessings and guidance than to mock and deny Him, which many on the left seem to enjoy. Not that God is automatically on our side, but that we seek to be on His side!

PS I am in a DAR family also (SAR, I suppose, for me). I shudder to think what our ancestors, who fought and died for us, would think.

With today’s generation of seismometers, they thay should be able to pinpoint the test location to within a kilometer. It will take a few days of computing, but it can be done.
OK, the target will be located on Friday and the strike force will need a day to prepare. I’m betting someone does a massive strike on Iran on Sunday or Monday.
Just in time for event to saturate Monday’s news services.
With the election Tuesday, this will be an interesting weekend.

A few examples from Wikipedia:

French nuke test (4.8 Richter scale, notice the relatively short duration)

Heavy earthquake (7.3 Richter scale)

Worldwide distribution of earthquakes (notice the location of Iran)

Trying to sell a minor earthquake as a nuclear test is just publicly confessing you're stupid.

Where’s Baghad Bob when you need a good laugh now and then? I still remember the comment about how he said they were going to use their shovels.

Welcome to FR. If this is true, there could hardly be more horrible news.

That’s the problem - even Mutual Assured Destruction won’t work if A-jad is willing to sacrifice Iran and its people in order to bring about the ultimate triumph of his religion. Do I know for sure he would? No, I don’t - which is all the more reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt. But too many people can’t conceive of or imagine any leader who would do this. For them, it’s much easier to ascribe evil to Bush, Cheney, et. al. for taking eight years of crapola for trying to defend us than to see our enemies for what they are. After all, it’s only a “tiny country,” as Obama said. My fear is that we will look back at this election and wonder why everyone was so preoccupied with the stock market when a far more grave matter was totally ignored. And none of this changes for me even if this was not a nuke test. On the topic of Iran, I think we all need to be clear, as your excellent post sets forth. PS When was the last time any Hollywood movie cast Muslims as terrorists? One has to take a moment to laugh so as not to become totally demoralized.

That’s cool. Where was your ancestor from? Mine was from North Carolina. I take such pride in knowing that my relative was so instrumental in our country’s birth.

I loved your comment about not that God is automatically on OUR side but that we seek to be on HIS. Oh, AMEN, brother, AMEN to that. I have been so down lately. I just know what’s at stake and how evil many are and how dumb many are and the combination of the two is lethal. Useful idiots? Wasn’t that a Lenin term? Or Marx?

Earthquakes happen daily in that part of the world. Most are too small for people to actually feel or to cause damage.

With today’s generation of seismometers, they thay should be able to pinpoint the test location to within a kilometer. It will take a few days of computing, but it can be done.

The test location and depth was pinpointed in a few minutes by the USGS network, as usual.

Since the depth of the earthquake is over 21 miles, and the deepest hole ever drilled on earth was 7.6 miles, as I mentioned it's obviously not a nuke test, and this thread has no business being in "breaking."

AMEN to that, CV. This could be a most painful end to the left's iron grip on the infostructure. The MSM, who should be telling the American people about issues of our survival, instead choose to play games designed to be sure they get to crown their little Marxist king. It's like arguing over how high to hang a picture while the house burns down around you.

This is the set up for the Israelis to bomb the crap out of Iran

Bomb what? Theres nothing to bomb because the facilities are deep underground. Israelis would have lob lots of nukes and that ain't gonna happen.

Thanks for kind words. I will have to dig out the DAR lineage and re-check the details.

Yes, I worry about the “useful idiots” also, including the MSM which may applaud the idea of the “Fairness Doctrine” challenging talk radio. Who do they think Obama will try to control next? (I think it was Lenin!)

Yes, these are trying times. I am working hard, doing what I can for the effort, and preparing myself mentally for whatever happens.

But knowing that God is there is a great comfort, and like Washington, Lincoln, FDR and Martin Luther King I derive strength from it. If the liberals read FDR's speeches during WWII and didn't know the author or the context, they would decry the speaker's lack of understanding of the “separation of church and state” and call the speaker a Bible-thumping Neanderthal or something like that.

I say was hope we are on God's side also to echo Lincoln, as Sarah Palin did earlier this fall - another comment the MSM distorted.

I have rambled, but thanks for response. I'm praying for a wise decision from my fellow Americans on Tuesday. But I'm also asking for courage and strength in case we're about to be tested. We'll know soon enough.

If a bomb goes off in the desert, and the MSM does not report it, did it happen?
