Earlier this morning, I went over to George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA just to see how big Obama is with the students. Because we've heard that the youth are going crazy for Obama. So I figured that college students who are for very enthusiastic will plaster their cars with his bumper stickers.
Since I parked in the garage, the closest parking lot was Lot J. Here are the stats:
Total cars in parking lot: 328 cars with Obama bumper stickers: 10 (3% of cars) cars with McCain bumper stickers: 4 (1% of cars)
If college students are really that enthusiastic about Obama, wouldn't their be a much higher percentage of cars with bumper stickers?
ugh, let me reformat that:
328 cars total
10 Obama bumper stickers
4 McCain bumper sticker
I just don’t want my truck to be keyed. LOL.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Their parents own the cars and pay the tuition bill. Parents don’t want bambi stickers on their cars.
I cry foul!. McCain cars are under polled due the scratched paint factor.
Here (Quinnipiac, you know, the school in a blue state that produces those enitrely inaccurate polls worshipping obama) I have seen about even number of McCain and Obama stickers, with perhaps a slightly higher number of McCain ones surprisingly
Good one, Edna!
But then, it may not mean anything.
We’ll see soon enough!
Thanks for the post and the counting! :)

I really hope you had other things on your todo list...
I don’t think Obama is pushing yard signs or bumper stickers... they’re tacky...
Nuber bumper sticker on cars whose owners are smart: 314
Number of bumper sticker on cars whose owners are smart: 314
Might as well set out to see how many students wear red hoodies and how many wear blue ones.
Talk about clueless!
Great idea for sampling, except that you left out the “car keying” cohort.
I would not put a conservative bumper sticker on my vehicle unless I wanted lines scratched all over it.
GMU Patriot ping!
The problem is that at GMU, it is a commuter school, even though they’ve built some dorms in recent years (I am from Fairfax) and if you haven’t noticed, there are many foreigners who attend school there.
A better test would be GW, UMD-College Park or Georgetown, which, I would presume to be be a minimum of 75% Obama.
All the aforementioned colleges have a lot of resident students whereas GMU, as you noted, has many parking lots to accomodate commuters.
My take.
That leaves 314 cars that you could have put McCain stickers on!
My two college age kids voted by absentee Ballot on Tuesday evening. I hand carried the ballot’s to them. They were very logical and understood the issues. Of course I did buy them a nice dinner. But they would have voted RIGHT anyway.
Some college kids have their head screwed on RIGHT!
I was on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus a few weeks ago, expecting to see overwhelming support for Obama. I saw one Obama poster in a dorm window. That was it. I was expecting to see signs everywhere.
I did see quite a few of older gentlemen wearing McCain/Palin stickers though!
I was just in Georgetown Tuesday and it was more like 100% Obama. I didn't see one McCain sign/sticker.
