(BOWLING GREEN, OHIO) Over the course of her two months on the campaign trail, Sarah Palin has accused Barack Obama of palling around with a terrorist, wanting to wave the white flag of surrender to the terrorists and has suggested that he doesnt want to win the wars the United States is fighting. At a rally here this afternoon, she upped the ante even further by wondering aloud whether the Democratic nominee really supports Israel in the way he has repeatedly affirmed he does.
Palins impetus was a story published in the Los Angeles Times in April about a 2003 banquet, in which the then Illinois state senator spoke about his friendship with Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO spokesman and current Columbia University professor, who has a history of espousing views on Israel that many consider incendiary.
And the twist here is that there's a videotape of a party for this person, back in 2003, a celebration of him, and Barack was there, and we know some very derogatory things were said there about Israel and America's support for that great nation, Palin said. And among other things, Israel was described there as the perpetrator of terrorism instead of the victim.
Palin then insinuated that Obama might not support Israel in the way he says he does.
What we don't know is how Barack Obama responded to these slurs on a country that he now professes to support, Palin said.

Oh this is getting good. Can you imagine the meeting with Steve Schmidt on the conference call with Sarah and he lays this out.
And Sarah says, “Great, let’s do it.”
The woman has an Israeli friend with a flag of Israel she keeps up.
Can this campaign get any better. These may be the best days of our lives!
(And the worst ones for the media!)
LOL
I don’t know how much traction Governor Palin will receive from the Jewish Community for pointing this out, but I do think she is aiming directly at Evangelicals that support Israel whole heartedly.
"Vice President elect Sarah Palin" has a nice ring to it, ay?
It’s way beyond any one group. It’s placing the radical tag right smack in the middle of Obama’s name tag.
Does this guy have any normal political friends? Any?! :)
Here in Florida there seems to be a great deal of skepticism (SP?) among Jewish voters. Except for the ultra-liberal, I don’t think they are buying it. I think Obama is going to lose big with Jewish people who practice their faith and have knowledge of history.

The media isn’t doing their job, so Palin is doing it for them.
At this point, I think the Evangelicals support Israel more than most Jewish Americans. Jewish liberals want to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. It’s easy for them to deceive themselves because all of Obama’s anti-Israel connections do not fit the stereotype of the White, redneck, Neo-Nazi type of antisemite.
They give Rev. Wright a free pass because he’s Black, and Blacks didn’t persecute Jews in Eastern Europe (which is where most Jewish Americans emigrated from). Jewish liberals are proud of the role that Jews played during the civil rights movement, so when they see Black antisemitism, they look the other way.
They give Rashid Khalidi a pass because he’s a “respected academic”, and Jews have the utmost respect for universities in spite of all the Israel bashing that goes on on college campuses.
They give William Ayers a free pass because there are so many Jewish baby boomer families that had teenage kids who embraced the hippie movement.

I think you are correct, Political Jews are a strange, strange group, but if pure numbers are looked at, I’d bet that Evangelicals that support Israel directly easily outnumber them.
I’d bet Rod Parsley’s Mega Church is in the area of Bowling Green....
I feel that if Iran Nukes Israel Obama might bring marshmallows. Or the next best thing—go to the UN and make a speech. I think he is for the Muslin Arabs more than any other political leader in history. The people of the Middle East see this clearly. McCain/Palin is the best hope for Israel.
Wow, Palin is unloading on Obama both barrels now - this is getting real good !!

The McCain campaign must sense NY is in play. I am thinking McCain believes with the Jewish vote he can win NY and possibly Jersey.
I love this! Who needs the tape? Just suggest that Obama did things on the tape that are far worse than what he actually did. And then the fact that the tape is being kept secret merely amplifies those suspicions in the minds of Americans.
That makes it a kind of win-win situation for them. As long as the LAT won’t release the tape, they can speculate as to what it would show.

*********
I was thinking the same thing — the more this videotape thing is bandied about yet not released, the more the speculation grows.
Good post! OH, and welcome to FR!!!
Regardless it gets released or not, by refusing to do so the way they have, the LA Times has shown itself to be most definitely in the tank for 0bama.
